Things That Annoy You About Fighting Games and the People that Play Them

Nothing really. I’m pretty numb to it all now and just play what I like.

Other aspects of fighting games as well as the people playing them:

  • Players that never improved over the time they spent fight countless matches… players that still fall for the same mistakes despite fighting them over so many times. I swear… on KOFXIII, at least two or three times out of the month I run into the same players again… and for some reason they STILL keep falling for DAY ONE mix ups and simple tricks! This was going on for MONTHS sense February! And now, also starting to recur in TTT2 also - I fought the same players at least more than a few times already and they still never learn. Not that I am trying to be mean, but you would think these guys would just… LEARN things overtime…

  • In line with the first entry, players that don’t make adjustments during game play and in situations. When an opponent shuts down your rush down options, you should have a secondary game plan that allows you to capitalize and adjust properly.

  • Individuals who try to tell others about a certain character that they never “really” played before. For example - on CVS2, there should not any resident A-Groove Ryu player trying to tell me how to play N-Groove Mai. That would be… stupid. Now, if you DID main that particular character or found some new technology somehow, then it is a different story altogether and they are just trying to help you. Otherwise… I will laugh at you and enjoy myself while doing it.

  • Players that try to tell others about a certain game that they they never played before. Imagine a SSFIV player trying to tell others about 3S without them having ever touched the game ever before! Just imagine…

  • Individuals who complain that a certain game is too hard and needs to be toned down. There was a recent article about this on TTT2, which was taken down shortly after it was introduced.

  • Tasteless or purposely ugly color edits/costumes designs… or players not putting much thought on customization edits… not that it effects the game play in most cases but some edits just look either too boring or too weird. How many times have you seen a pitch black color edit of Ryu and Ken on SFxT or some randomly bad design of Asuka Kazama on TTT2 already, huh?

  • Individuals who take the online game play too seriously.

  • Good fighting game ideas being adverted by really bad ideas.

You don’t have to play a game or a character to know how they should be played…

Honestly, the people that I think get the most nut riding aren’t “even that good”.
Example:

  • Daigo got ridden so hard after that Justin Parry in 2k4… Daigo isn’t even a good 3S player, he just made an all-star Hail Mary play.

Marvel players who hate anything that isnt marvel because derp lv3 vergil comebacks are fun to watch for some ppl

I was thinking of the “OMGMIKEWATSON” types (or Chenriders, or Ski-doos)

So being one of the best in America in the game you like, and placing top 8 at EVO in games you play casually, just based on fundamentals, is not enough to be considered “good” in your eyes?

And anyone who still runs an active arcade and supports the scene’s activities is “significant”.

Your standards are pretty high for someone who has done jack shit other than annoying people on an internet forum.

If anything, you are the nut rider because you aren’t aware of anything outside of the Justin Wong/Chris G flavor of the month circle jerk, and have no appreciation for anything else.

I don’t think you should defer to Jwong or ChrisG either, just to be clear.

I know who Watson is of course, or Chen, but they’re simply not that significant as players anymore, but are instead significant as community personalities.

**We need fewer community personalities. **

You seem to be confused (as usual), people who contribute to the community are not simple “community personalities”

People who act like stream monsters in stream chats.

Also people who use different text for the sake of being unique snowflakes.

Also no, we don’t need fewer community personalities. Less blind adulation maybe, but there’s nothing wrong with giving recognition to people who have made contributions to their community or the FGC in general (Whatever you want to consider that). The problem isn’t necessarily the celebrities as much as the people who celebrate them (aka arm-chair stream monsters).

WTF does this even mean? Does it bother you that they fucking exist? What makes someone a “personality” if not you who are willing to click and watch him do some shit?

As long as they don’t replace someone who is better than them at something, what’s the problem exactly?

Well, I’m sorry if I offended you by insulting your friend.

Still, the thing is not to much the people, but it’s the slavish deference they get.

When somebody says “Don’t you know who that is?!?!” I find it annoying (see:thread title).

Edit: Also, I almost certainly do know who it is, I just don’t think their ‘celebrity’ makes them right. If I disagree, I’m gonna disagree and explain why.

I guess everything they did/are doing means nothing now.

Fuck you watson and the super arcade that has wednesday night fights

fuck you james chen and your multiple strategy guides and tips on becoming a better player.

YOU GUYS ARE IRRELEVANT.

The lack of PC versions of popular fighting games annoys me.

He’s not my friend but he’s also doesn’t have anything to do with what you are talking about.

People who like Gootecks and Maximilian and similar shit deserve exactly that. It caters to them, not to me, so why should I care? You talk as if we are all in the same group or something and should have the same standards and values. Let the smarter be smarter and the dumber be dumber, and you just deal with things that suit you.

There are “personalities” in this community…
There are “players” in this community…
Then there are the people that made this community’s roots.
I hate JChen’s commentating… But he’s a legend.
Watson, Gootecks, even Max…

They’re not “OMGZ LOOK AT SHERRY’S AZZ”

How this turned into what it did from my comment about people nutriding, I don’t know… But the point of MY original post was along the lines of people jumping all over Daigo for SF3 or Damdai for SF2, but they’re not the best. Both are incredible players, and I don’t hold a candle to either… But things like when Damdai lost to ALegends, I was happy he lost. Why? Shut the nutriders up for a week. When Valle beat the shit out of Daigo in both ST and 3S at Evo… Again, it shut the nutriders up. I like it when that happens… because it really separates the players from the celebrities. For years, I heard Daigo this and Daigo that for 3S… but meanwhile, he’s not even relevant in that game. People put on their best panties when he made that “I’m coming for you in MvC3” video, and what happened? He got smacked the fuck up. He’s not even relevant in SF4 from what I see these days - that game’s all about Korea out of nowhere. Super Turbo, he was amazing with Ryu but he can’t even sit at the same table as players like Shooting D - and neither can Damdai for that matter. Justin was amazing at Marvel 2… But people jump on his nuts like he’s absolutely brilliant at SF4 and UMvC3… I don’t see it… He wins, sure… But he’s not the MvC2 Justin that basically benchmarked the way you play that game.

Seriously Xes… Who the fuck are you? You want to talk about relevance… meanwhile…

Because some things are apparently Sancrosanct.

If I’d known Watson in particular would be such a trigger, I’d have used somebody else. There are plenty of examples.

But Watson IS a good player, just not at a game that’s as popular.

I don’t like when your opponent underestimate your skill in the beginning of the match. Not only do you have to deal with preschool setups the opponent thinks will work, but also the shit talk that comes up after, whether it be on SRK or online. After BUSTING their ass.

There are enough people in this scene to make a girls club for them. They talk trash for nothing, gossip about what they think you do, and these are the ones losing like hot cakes. Hell you probably supported them at one point but at the end of the day, they are as fake they come.

Thats dat shit I don’t like!
