The fact that people rage at them. People have passions and pride like F champ and that’s all cool. People have differential experiences with them like Chris G and that’s cool. People wanna toy around with you like Infrit and DiosX and that’s… cool… (makes me BIbleThump) But because people have ways of being scornful like your hated XBL 12 year old that will go about thrashing with his mouth (or mind) and try to make you feel like a piece of shit because he lost or he’s outclassed or for whatever reason fucking sucks IMO. And it sucks for me because it carried on with me in a way.
P.S. I love FG’s and I don’t really rage at them for whatever reason. I do go wtf at it’s bullshit moments but I think if you accept them as what it is it won’t really bother you that much.
Then what the hell does that make UMVC3 and SSF4AE? The developers don’t want to patch them anymore, yet the rabid fanboys of those games think they have the authority of declaring other games dead, including TTT2 (Jealousy?) and SFxT which are still getting patches, dlc, updates and other support.
You know what…
I take back everything I said previously if I can replace it with most of the comments on this page:
WHAT THE FUCK?
GOG releases old games for a small fee, DRM free.
Nobody’s forcing you to buy it.
It’s not a major release. It’s not going to affect your precious GGPO.
Again, it’s a re-release of a OLD game that was on Windows 98 back a million years ago. I bought that shit from KB Toys when they went out of business for like 25 cents or something…
Friendly neighborhood Anthropologist here letting you know some important facts. We have hella people that don’t participate in: 1) local meet ups, 2) any of the FGC sites, and 3) any other secondary community site ( forums dedicated to local fighting game communities). Just because you went to Gamefaqs to complain about Ryu’s hadouken “spam” doesn’t mean you are part of this community.
Taking many hours of observation and considering various factors, if you do not engage in any of the 3 previous activities, your ass ain’t part of this community.
I find this slightly annoying - Commentators during streams and local meet ups. Not the commentators themselves, but there are few that tend to… start having irrelevant discussions during the actual matches. I understand having a good sense of humor and everything but, they need to save irrelevant conversations for until after the match or during some preparation phases - just to keep the audience informed. (I recall that there was a thread on this topic).
It can be a legit discussion though (‘why didn’t this game catch on?’) Sometimes its just people being salty that the game they like is being called dead.
Do you mean sort of like discussion that’s off-topic or just totally random? I ask because I could be alone, but it kind of bugs me sometimes if say, KOF’s going on and the current matchup is…let’s say a Ralf vs a King, and instead of talking about Ralf’s options in that situation and how he’d be trying to get in, how King would try to keep him out, or things like the different ways those characters can be played, or any player info or tells they’re aware of, they go on about another game entirely for the whole time without even mentioning anything that’s currently going on the stream. I just find that to kind of be a bit disrespectful.
Returning from a 6 month hiatus from fighters, while trying to learn a game I have very little experience with; 3SO, I’ve faced a few things that annoy me…
People who I beat online, then rematch me and immediately go to Ken SA2 in the rematch.
The Hatemail when I lose to someone. Really man? A rank 20+ Online Warrior is going to send a Rank 4 rusty newbie hatemail because you beat me?
3.People who are dominating me, then suddenly refuse to finish the match, even refusing to punish when I whiff super punishable, desperate moves.
People who go Sean against me and when I win, send me messages saying “I would have won if I didn’t pick Sean.”
Anyone saying “Stay Free/Free Win”. Yes, I know I’m bad right now, I’m learning. That’s why I want to play against harder people. It’s how I learn things.
well marvel has 3 characters so there is some exception there. the comparison gets a little foggy period considering the different defensive options of the games you are talking about.
and i think its wrong to assume that people that play strong characters dont think of those character as “extensions” of themselves or they dont like them.
IDK most f the characters that are strong in games i happen to like them on a personal level and the shitty ones i aint really like anyways
An addendum to this, you see a lot of people either excluding their own games (I hate long combos but Marvel is different!) or getting way too salty when their pet game gets hate… like Novaroad said, 's like they’re treating the games as extensions of their own worth.
Also, to be fair on my point, I’d like to note that I’m not saying I mind the long combos in Marvel. I have no issues with them and think some of them are kinda cool too. In my case, I just happen to appreciate/like/not mind/whatever them for all games, and if I gave off the impression that I liked them in KOF/Blazblue/Persona but hated them in Marvel, then that wasn’t my intent.
1: I think you mean SA3 Ken. But yeah, newer players when they lose will immediately run to Ken/Akuma. Sometimes Ryu. It’s just a thing, I don’t know why exactly they do it.
2, 3, and 5: I’ve been guilty of sending troll messages. Mostly if I feel the other guy is trolling or just not even trying. As someone who tries to improve and be the best around where no one’s going to keep me down I get a little offended if I’m playing someone who picks a Shoto and mashes. Not suggesting that you do that but that’s just my experience. It’s like “Really dude? Really? Going to keep doing Super or SRK on wakeup? Not going to hitconfirm, just do Tatsu at the start of the match? Really?” and if they don’t finish the match they’re trying to give you a chance and/or troll you. If they give you that chance then go in and give it your all. I don’t really send ‘stay free’ messages unless they keep doing something really, really, really dumb.
Best solution is to find someone on your skill level or invite a friend to a Player Match.
-People who look at stuff in marvel 3 (usually something stupid) and go “it’s just like like in MVC2”. I can’t remember a instance where these people have ever been right.
-People who complain about counterpicks
-Poeple who complain about ringouts, but don’t pay any attention to their spot on the stage.
-Scrubs (by this I mean whiners and people who refuse to adapt, not new players)
I remember there was a stream for a TTT2 tournament a long time ago and some commentators from the Mortal Kombat scene were recorded talking about ***glory holes ***and I loved the reactions of the stream monsters: “WTF?!!! GET THESE PEOPLE OFF THE MIC! WORST COMMENTATORS EVAR!!!”.
