J.hk needs to be low to connect u2
j.tc u2 works like u1
U2 definitely works after j.tc. I’ve done it plenty.
Either version of j. hp x 2 (punches or the downward slaps) can combo into U2. Weird vid, but here you go.
New spoiler tags suck.
this thread is so awesome! thank you for all the effort that has been put into it.
If Snake sees this and wants to add it feel free mate… This is for Jae as he asked about frame traps in the general discussion thread so I’ve copied these from my own Chun notes literally copy and pasted so ignore some of my random notes :)… Fair to say that most of this isn’t new…
Frame Traps:
Use these within pressure strings as to not repeat the same string over and over, need to vary my strings more… So badly
cr.LK, cl.HK
cr.LP, cl.HK
cr.LP x2 st. MP (sometimes pop Kiko on the end sometimes another st.MP and sometimes st.RH… why do I over use Kiko so much argh)
cr.LP, cr.HK (best off a few jabs and shit and maybe I need to work on a delay of some sort)
cr.LP x2, 1 step back cr.HK (or st.MP buffer those EX Legs)
cr.LK, cr.LP (or x2 LP), LK HSU
cr.LP, cr.HP (cancel into something)
cr.MK, st.MP (loose trap)
cr.LK, cr.LP, hold towards and cl.HK (loose trap, catches late cr.techs yay)
cr.HP xx RH Legs hold towards cl.HK (crazy loose gets a ton of trades, should probably stop using it)
Anyway that’s all the basic frame traps I throw about I do use some odd other ones that use meter and stuff but they are mainly for styling
no cr.mk traps? ;_;
yay!!! lol
LOL sorry like I said these are just copied from my Chun notes so its not everything, I don’t really use cr.MK to frame trap but I probably should, please don’t cry
I’ve been using cr. mk to trap quite a bit up close. since most of Chun’s normals are pretty much 3-4 frames up close it’s easier to catch counterhits off of a blocked cr. mk imo.
With cr. lp, I’ll use that over cr. mk if I know I’ll have to walk up for a split second to connect the next move. It usually turns out to be too tight from point blank unless the opponent is BLATANTLY mashing (in which case, I’ll do it all day).
Also, cr. mk, jab, fierce is one of my favorite link combos now.
Just started a blog on last week. Please support me for those that know me and for those that are not familiar with me nice to me you and support me also. http://sosicknashfan.blogspot.com Thanx
This is an awesome link but to be fair I drop it way to much but then I guess that makes it a kind of frame trap lol
I’ve just read your blog and its very helpful. It’s good that you go into good detail becuase some of the info i get can be vague. Keep it up and i look forward to more from your blog.
same here, nice tidbits :B
Excellent blog! Especially so because it helped me understand what Option Selects are and how they work.
I have done some tests on the OS nashfan provided (very low j.hp c.hk)
It works against feilong perfectly. punishes backdash and ex chicken wing, blocks reversal DP
I’ve been noticing that when players block Chun’s cr.MP in footsies, they almost always instinctively stick out a poke or a move right after, which will then lose to Sweep. According to frame data it’s not a frame trap per se, but I am thinking about adding it anyways because it still sort of is a frame trap and because it’s so damn effective lol.
I use this a fair bit or do HSU after the cr.MP… However I have noticed that the good players I fight adapted to this after I used it like twice in a fight, just got to be careful cos I’ve used this against an excellent Fei and eaten Focus crumple a few times into a lot of damage, also fear sticking out these types of pokes against an oiled up Hakan, the stuff a good (I mean really good) Hakan can do to Chun’s Footsies actually made me scared to press buttons… If you don’t believe me this is the Hakan I play against often:
Still it is a nice pattern I guess I am just trying to say DON’T become patterned with it as its a SLOW punishable poke
Yeah, it’s definitely punishable if you get predictable with it, but I’m thinking about using cr.MP a few times to see if someone will stick out a move (while I just block without doing anything afterward) and save that information for a rainy day - and when you really need it, cr.MP and Sweep or Hazanshu into combo. Or just cr.MP and then blind Ultra 1 if you want to feel godlike (or feel stupid if they block lol).
It’s a nice idea cuz it gives your opponent enough time to stick something out before you punish it with a slower move that can still catch them in recovery. Almost every string Dhalsim does works off of negative advantage and slowish pokes and it still works out pretty well for him. Haha
