There will be arcade AC at Evo

Just as the title states (unless it comes out on console before that.) Singles tourney or team tourney, it’s gonna be one or the other. I have run Evo tournaments before, they are no fun and take way too long so only one of the two unless someone wants to co host with their own AC kit. Thanx.

Well…I say you should do the inverse of what is done for Slash…if slash is team, then do singles or vice versa. Either which way, sounds good to me…

Whats the Point? isn’t Ac supposed to be out on ps2 in July?

and where did you find this inscibed on some tablet of gold that is so emaculate it has to be true?

oh even if its true EVO south north east is before july so if there qualing this game it would have to be there right?

and if all this is true, evo holding AC this means they have finally decided its time to try and keep up with the japs. good move imo. although i can see a post now where mr. wizard replies.

Mr. Wizard “Evo is a console tournament.”

to be honest though if they could they should just run AC since its the new game.

in other words no slash

Umm…this is clearly going to be an UNOFFICIAL tournament.

Nobody knows when console AC is coming out, or even what console will have it. Add in the Generic MrWizard Reply, and it means arcade AC in the BYOC room.

Slow down there texas, theres other kids who want to play their games first. :wgrin:

Not our problem if you guys are behind the rest of us. That’s why Texas is the best state.

Whoa calm down everybody, this is all being taken out of context. To clarify some things:

  • This is an unofficial tourney.
  • The first thing I posted in my first post said that “unless it comes out on console before that.” Read before you post.
  • Reason there wont be an official AC at Evo is because who the fuck is gonna be able to play it before Evo?! Not a lot of people. There will probably be around 20 - 40 people that actually know how to play AC entering. The other majority will just enter for fun. It is an incredibly hard game to get right now and only dedicated arcades that are still willing to shell out $2k+ for the GD-Rom + Dimm board are buying it.
  • Also, posted on Dustloop.com it has been stated that AC will be coming out for PS2 and the estimated release is going to be July (I don’t expect it till Nov.) It will also be released for the Nintendo Wii :looney: as posted at gamefaqs.com .

Thanx.

-See Ya!!!

I already won an accent core tournament, you? I’m speaking for the masses, theres no reason for ac as the main game at evo. Keep that ish as a side tournament and save that shit for evo next year.

I hope they have air conditioning…

there is a reason, to kick the rest of the nation into gear, if people start demanding these games they might find avenues of access to them. but america is a slow country and geographical problems are the reason this country sucks for fighting games. if i knew japanese i would be in japan already.

whats unfair about is that we cannot play the games the japanese are playing when the games come out, and that puts us at a disadvantage although it not the whole reason the japanese usually beat us its a major one.

Well I don’t know about Texas but everywhere else arcades are dead, just the few hot spots are whats still striving and I mean STRIVING. When a game doesn’t even have a console release, is import only and is hard to get a hold of even when being import only I don’t see how it can be an american standard. I mean When at home we have TGA but i have to drive almost 3 hours to get there, I love guilty but it’s not my life. I can see how you guys are enthusiastic to be the 2nd spot in the US to get it but c’mon here you’re gonna allow the rest of the US to fall behind? I’d wrather have the last and most balla slash tournament with huge amounts of entries then the twenty people that would enter AC and the 8 people who actually played it before evo weekend and that is TRUTH. AC side tourney will be dope but don’t get irrational here, it makes you guys seem stupid.

From a promotional standpoint, i don’t think anyone cares which version of GGXX is being shown, if you could get 500 people for the original GGXX for ps2 it would help AC’s case more than a 50 man AC tournament.

If they make a console release, they are going to use the most recent version, and if arcades get it, i think they’ll just pick whatever version is the most recent, so I don’t think having slash will hurt AC in the end, the more important thing IMO is to keep the players coming.

I know it wont hurt AC, but comon console is retarded, and its even funnier that you guys at EVO allow button mapping. if there was a GGXX/ SBO qual and you guys were responsible for running it would you allow button mapping? i sure hope not. although this conversation has nothing to do with this subject what it does point out is americas thinking is ass backwards.

Not really, but it does point out that you like to troll, if your going to reply with some off topic random hate, just save it.

To OP, cool that your bringing your cab, although if it is on console by that time you just may be doing extra work, do you have any other boards for that, or is it AC or nothing?

I run most of my stuff on superguns I make. I do have a cab but it takes up too much space so it’s in the garage. I need to get rid of it and get a sit down cab. I mainly have CPS2 fighting games but once I stop paying off my car and have a little more cash to spend I might get a couple more games. Yeah, I don’t plan on bringing the thing if it’s out on console. Rather just bring that then. Thanx.

Yeah…Evo isn’t trying to cater to the Japanese or how SBO/1337 GG players think. It’s a matter of what’s going to be easiest under time constraints before the tournament. People learned to deal with T5 for what…2 years now. GG is in the same boat. AC arcade cab is expensive and there’s no way for anyone in the US to practice. We live in America…even though both countries have people that share a passion for fighting games…our communities are different and we have to cater to them in order for things to work out.

Slash is still a good game and switching to AC for finals would be more a joke than anything else. Yay…we get to smash buttons in shit we have no idea what the fuck to do in. Great. Japanese win for free. At least in games like 3S we can actually put up a fight against them. AC tourney would be the most rape event in the history of Evo. Basically…if the Hokuto No Ken set up at Evo 2k6 was an official tourney…it’d go just like the casuals. US just walking up to get raped. Not just like a regular 3S rape. Like I have no idea how to do the stuff these Japanese guys are destroying me with rape. Like Robot said…even if we were to try and promote AC…geographical/cultural issues will get in the way of AC succeding in the US. Basically…AC won’t mean shit until it comes out on PS2.

As far as the console thing…button maps are one of those things where it may affect people on a lower level of play but anyone who knows what they’re doing is still gonna win. With 5,000 dollars on the line some scrub who maps their buttons isn’t going to get any sort of advantage vs. Yipes or J.Wong in MVC2 who have worked their asses off against competitive players for a long time. Especially with money on the line they could be able to read their minds and still work them.

Although arcades may be the 1337 thing to do…they aren’t going to allow for the maximum number of players to enter and to be honest…there are a lot more people that would not enter a 3S or GG tourney because of not being able to use pad/custom stick than not being able to play on an arcade cab. Maybe 3 or 4 random good players may not enter due to not having an arcade cabinet as opposed to 30+players leaving a tourney because of lack of being able to use their own arcade stick/pad. It also makes it so that you can use the controls that you are used to and if things don’t work out…it’s either your execution or your controller. No blaming it on the sticks. The only people that don’t agree with this are hardcore arcade cab guys who honestly make up far less people than the pad scrubs/custom stick warriors that make up the tourneys as of late.

Which Evolution tourney?

look im not saying i do not like EVO tournaments, i went to my first Evo last year, and watching the finals and the crazy money match was pretty exciting, and i do not even play those games, except GG. but what im trying to say is i wish EVO staff wasnt so set on using consoles. and if they are going to be atleast they could try and replicate the conditions the game was designed to be played on. as in the case of button mapping. there is no button mapping on arcade, and as far as skill vrs button mappers. thats not an excuse.

im sure everyone here has seen clips from SBO, doesnt a center stage with arcade cabinet setups and the stage being in the center with screens for everyone to see look alot more professional? instead of two people sitting infront of two tvs with sticks on the ground? and the only reason majority of tekken players play on pad is cause tournaments allow it, i gureentee if they cared enough and tournaments stoped allowing pads tekken players would swich as nessacary.

also i heard the sbo quals for tekken on the west coast(or whatever coast) was going to allow controller, but i know controller ports will not be at SBO. shoulndt people qualifing for an event qualify under the same conditions as the oppents your playing against in the tournament?

also no i do no spell check.
