Some setups for Magneto to kill with Ride the Lightning. There’s also the raw tag setup, but that requires to be half screen, these are just some other ways you could use. Nothing special really.

Also for tomorrow, I might upload a cool Shockwave punish with Zero and Dante tomorrow, but I still can’t get it to work properly, almost there. Tomorrow is my birthday, so I might not be able to upload until Saturday if I am busy.

Is zero/vergil/wesker a good team?

no

EDIT: If you don’t like having a good neutral assist and can run it only with Rapid Slash, then go with it.

What makes it bad and who would you move/replace to make it good?

Rapid Slash is not going to help at all versus teams with any kind of good assists such as Disruptor, Missiles, Drones, Plasma or Unibeams, etc. You probably struggle against Lariat teams too. It’s very easy to hit Vergil out of his assist with anything really, and gunshot is not going to help in anything.

I mean, you can derp it out though. You have Zero on point, which is he just dies at the beginning of the round, you’re going to have 2 meters. Once you have 2 meters, XF2 Vergil or XF2 Wesker with 2 meters is more than enough to kill 2 characters instantly. And you know XF3 Wesker is really good, and XF3 Vergil is even more with meter.

Combo extensions are nice all around in the team, but besides that, there’s better options.

thinking of running zero magneto vergil (aka zero/anyone good/vergil shell) to replace dante (gasp) but fuck i need some solid lockdown for magnus. when my mblasts are on point i might make it work.

i run zero/vergil/magneto (in that order), works great for me, i have been doing very solid in tournament lately.
i prefer vergil before mag because i feel vergil benefits mroe from magnetos assist rather than visa versa. i also really enjoy super fast xf-3 magneto.
and also if i ever need to dhc (birthdays) vergils spiral sword dhc is way better.

I’ve stil yet to touch the game for some time due to just being really busy, but most of the above teams are getting put in my “casuals only” folder.

Remaining teams I want to try more:

Zero/Nova/Strider
Zero/Doom/Strider

Now there’s a new team that I pondered for a long time in vanilla, but never got it to where I wanted. For some reason it popped back in my head after watching Chrisis play at FR3: Zero / * / Viper

Some of you may remember me talking about this type of setup before, but for the uninitiated it’s run like a Phoenix team with Viper in Phoenix’s place. Instead of needing 5 meters you really only need 1 for Viper for her to use EX Seismo. 2 meters would be great though. In vanilla and early Ultimate I was going with Zero/Doom/Viper for this setup, but I want to explore a few different options that don’t include him or the Sparta Bros. That being said, I’m considering:

Zero/RR/Viper
Zero/Strider/Viper
Zero/Hawkeye/Viper

All of the above second characters have awesome synergy backing up Zero and also can get some use out Burning Kick*. They also wouldn’t be bad anchors themselves, which means they wouldn’t “need” to depend on Viper to get in or just play out their gameplan. The more I think about it, the more I think my tourney team is one the above.

*Right now the plan is to use Burning Kick, but I could switch that to Thunder Knuckle for the invincible crossover counter - essentially making Zero the “Phoenix” if I need/want to and/or to just get him out of a sticky situation.

while i agree vergil/magneto is nasty, magneto with meter positive TODs and vergil with XF3 is potentially nastier.

are you saying meter positive TOD’s because he has vergil behind him for combo extender? i’d like to see a video if so i could use that :stuck_out_tongue:

Zero/Spencer/Sentinel. Been using this team for the past couple of weeks. But thinking about Zero/Dante/Spencer. Pros and cons for spencer on anchor vs. sentinel on anchor for this team. I really like sentinel drones, but sentinel hit box so big, easy to get caught.

Adding one more team to this list: Zero/Frank/Viper

Hopefully, I should have some time tonight to get in the lab (finally!) and test all these out. If can figure out a way to level Frank with Zero w/o using TAC, I might go with that because I’d love to have 2/3 characters with ultra dumb normals.

So does anyone have any methods/theories on leveling up Frank w/ Zero w/o using TAC? I’ve been brainstorming and can’t think of anything, but that may be due to my rust.

Dunno about Viper but anyone with an install Hyper can help Zero do that for Frank. i.e. Rekkoha DHC to Arthur Armour, raw tag Frank, take pic/s

Unfortunately, that’s probably not an option for me since Zero & Viper are staying put. I’ll just have to figure out other options in the lab. One thing I’m thinking is going into a LL then Sougenmu DHC to Shopping Cart. I believe Frank can OTG camera shot after that.

Thought he could only take a camera shot if shopping cart hit on a grounded opponent/ OTG’d and not while they’re in the air? I dunno, I’m not a Frank player. You can try your suggestion and you can try just ending a combo with a knockdown, but instead of Rekkoha go into Sougenmu DHC to shopping cart.

Don’t know the detailed properties of everything with Frank. I literally just thought about Frank last night when I saw his video looking for Fingercramp’s RR guide.

Did some testing night - felt good to be playing after such a long time off. My Zero wasn’t as rusty as I thought he’d be - then again I didn’t play any matches. My Viper on the other hand… let’s just say I gotta get it back.

Anyway, the only Zero/*/Viper setups I like are** Zero/Doom/Viper** and Zero/RR/Viper (though I didn’t test this one last night). While I like Frank, it’s much of a hassle trying to level him with my other two characters, so he’s on the bench for now. Zero/Strider/Viper is good, but Chrisis’ setup of Viper/Zero/Strider is much better, so if I go with those characters I’d probably use that order. Somehow forgot to test Zero/Hawkeye/Viper.

Zero/Ironman/Sentinel, a team I messed with before my break is still feeling pretty strong. Even though Ironman overall is a troubled character and Sentinel has his issues, it seems like a team whose value is much greater than it’s individual parts. Definitely a finalist team that I have to explore more.

Though I didn’t test Zero/Nova/Strider last night, I’m pretty sure that it’s still as awesome as I remember it, though I also want to try Zero/Nova/Hawkeye and see if that’s a better fit. Strider anchor gives the team great comeback potential, provides harassment for Zero and ridiculous hit confirm options for Nova. I’m just not sure if Nova can entirely depend on Strider to help his offensive game. Hawkeye though gives that crazy mixup for Nova that Combofiend does and it’s still a great assist for Zero.

Okay so I’m having a crisis with my team.
Zero/Dante/Vergil

I looove zero and Vergil, and I really enjoy playing them, but I do not enjoy playin Dante at all. (hes a cool char and i love dmc, but i dont like how he plays i guess?) I love his assist, that’s pretty much it. Now I can’t figure out who to really replace him with? Or should I just tough it out with Dante? This is going to be an annoying process either way because I’m so spoiled by jam session. :frowning:

eh i was in the same situation, i can’t stand playing dante, but i adored the assist. thing is, there are tons of other good/more tricky assists out there. though you have one of the best teams in the business, if you don’t enjoy dante i don’t see the point in continuing with him. i guarantee you’ll easily be able to find a new assist you like with a character you like aswell.
