Sentinel.
My main Zero teams are Zero Ryu Sentinel & Zero Sentinel Akuma. I use the drones for cover and mix ups. While Ryu’s tatsu assist is used for helping zero in mid-screen combos and getting the opponent into the corner. Akuma’s tatsu assist is mostly for cover and to fly through projectiles, also he is my best anchor. I also have Ryu and Sentinel paired up they seem to work together very well and its easy to combo multiple shinnku hadoukens together with the help of sentinel’s assist. I have a lot of trouble dealing with keep away characters such as Trish and Hawkeye. I have been using different characters lately and I am trying to pair them with Zero to have different teams. I have been using Chris, Dormammu, Rocket Raccoon, Spencer, Wesker, Super Skrull, Thor, and Shuma Gorath. Rocket Raccoon has been working quite well with Zero. I mainly use his log trap to catch my opponent off guard when they are rushing in or trying to escape my rush down. And I would DHC into rocket raccoon with his trap super to keep the opponent at bay then i hard tag back Zero to pursuit. Which of these characters could help benefit me in the long run with Zero?
Just making my 3rd reserve team and am looking to run zero on the point. Would a zero/vergil/dormammu or zero/wolverine/dormammu be good?
Wouldn’t be very good for Wolverine or Vergil, Zero/Dorm/Vergil might work better. Wolvie doesn’t fit on that team unless you use akuma or one of his BFF assists.
Ok guys, I’m having another anchor dilemma and this time, it’s between Hawkeye and Taskmaster.
I play Zero/Vergil/Hawkeye (team Flocker) and I’ve had extreme success with the team; Hawkeye’s Greyhound assist gives Zero quick 50/50’s, a midscreen combo extender, and a fast neutral get-off me assist (sometimes). The Greyhound assist doesn’t scale hitstun too badly either, which is another plus.
But lately, I’ve tried out Taskmaster with his horizontal arrows assist and I’ve found similar success but on the PLUS side, I’ve found Tasky to be an even more ridiculously solid anchor. Taskmaster just seems like a more complete/versatile character than Hawkeye and his anchor capabilities appear to be more solid. But his arrows assist is a little slower in the startup department compared to Greyhound. ahhhh any opinions or advice on which character fits better on my team?
I currently have Zero/Doom/Arthur and Arthur’s daggers are just as amazing an assist as Greyhound albeit abit slower. I’d say they’re alittle bit faster than Taskmaster’s arrows as well, so if you’re really into zoning characters (seeing as how you’re running anchor Hawkeye anyways), I think Arthur fits quite nicely with Zero.
but arthur just feels too goofy for me. and he seems more xfactor dependent than the other two *TM and HE
What do you guys think of Zero/Doom/Phoenix? I saw a little chit-chat about Zero/Dante/Phoenix but I really like it with Doom, especially since I can utilize the TAC tech pretty well with the team, I get pretty lazy corner carries with both Missiles/Overdrive, and my meterless damage hits around 800k-900k
I dunno about Phoenix anchor though, feels like i’d be better off running Vergil anchor or Strider anchor, since I feel those are better overall anchors, especially considering the assists they bring ( Though TK Overdrive is pretty nice as well ). I haven’t seen enough Phoenix, Vergil, or Strider anchors to really make an educated assumption though. Spiral Swords on Vergil makes me feel so safe when i’m trying to go nuts as well.
Oh well, any advice?

go to 1:00:00. PZPoy plays that same team, and is really good at building meter for Phoenix. not to mention has a reset that lets you do the same combo with Zero twice without needing to use Super.
What are your guys thoughts on Zero/Sentinel/Strider or Vergil anchor? Or perhaps Zero/Vergil/Strider?
i guarantee zero vergil strider is very solid, due to having both horizontal/vertical assists. also solid dhc’s, you can use both assists to make for a pretty damn long zero combo also. not many flaws to that one, outside of the low health all around.
being an OG zero/dante player, on a b-team of zero/magneto/sentinel how hard do you think it would be for me to adjust without jam session? i know drones is gdlk cuz i used it for a short period of time in vanilla but im not so sold on magneto… the two of them seem to have shitty synergy honestly.
its just a temporary team though, practicing magnus/sent until i feel confident enough to run them with vergil instead of zero, same with viper.
I want to know what makes Zero/Dante/Strider better than Zero/Doom-HM/Strider? I can understand that Dante’s jam is faster but Zero can do all of his bs with HM too, just differently in timing. Doom also is posses as a good DHC, offers the team better health and easier damage input while dante has lower health and needs more inputs to dish damage. I do agree that Dante/Strider is a powerful shell, i think Dante/Strider is leagues over any ???/Strider.
I think the top 3 characters for Zero/Strider teams are Dante, Doom, and Vergil. I want to see the opinions here on who they feel is the best 3rd character, and why.
It should be obvious, the amount of mixup and immediate screen control Zero gets from JS is ridiculously powerful. HM doesn’t give him immediate pressure and mixup. I’m talking strictly Dante vs Doom as an assist for Zero. Can’t really comment on the teams themselves though as they’d both have a largely different gameplan and dynamic.
The same reasoning to choose from Vergil/Drones and Vergil/Disruptor, the mixups are a lot more instant, but you have less overall screen control to work with. Also, Hidden Missiles doesn’t allow Zero to combo from air-grabs, which Zero honestly needs to do his point role accordingly, you can’t also combo from ground throws in the corner traditionally (you’ll have to try something like MVC2 style assist call first then grab).
Also, Zero does more for Dante than Doom. Doom doesn’t need the LL DHC at all, and Ryuenjin is hard to use for him. Dante can get easy teleport mixups and combo extensions with it.
What character you like more, Dante or Doom? If you like Doom, go with Doom. If you like Dante, go with Dante. Easy decision.
Who has shitty synergy? Zero and Magneto? Nah, they are great together since vanilla.
I wouldn’t say one is better or one is worse, just the assist fits different playstyles. HM is far easier to use but has less applications than Jam Session, but its probably the more preferred assist for a Defensive/Runaway Zero over Jam Session. You also have to work around more hurdles with double assist extensions when you use HM because you have to call it before you do your relaunch, where Jam Session lets you do it after, allowing for more time for assist calls to refresh. Also AFAIK Jam Session is more damage off an assist extension, and makes the LLoop a bit easier. On top of that, HM is way more vulnerable than Jam Session and can not be called as freely when you are about to be pressured. Plus, converting off SJ without Jam Session is pretty rough.
In a sense of practically, Doom/Strider is probably more intuitive to play than Dante/Strider, as you can convert into bigger damage easier with Doom and the way you use Vajra is more straightforward.
However, Doom+Vajra isn’t self-sufficient when you get to higher levels of player, Dooms only real flaw is that he needs a strong lockdown assist to be play full potential, like Drones/Cold Star, Vajra only covers a small hole in his gameplan. Dante/Strider however is different, Dante on his own is self sufficient, any assists you add on top of that is just icing on the cake.
Anyway yea, that explains that. I still think HM vs JS is just a matter of preference and playstyle, but playing Doom does limit some of your options. In the end I want to play Zero/Doom/Ammy but until my Ammy gets leveled up i’m sticking with Strider/Phoenix/Vergil anchor for my Zero team.
Thanks for the input, i like Dante better but I’ve been using Doom for a long time so in other words my dante is noob dante i’m still adjusting to the gameplan with Dante in it. The only thing i’ve managed to see is how great of a shell Strider and Dante are. Jam session lets strider do anything and Vajira is something important to Dante’s game. I’ve tried vergil and he works amaizing too, the only problem is that i can’t do any flashy air lightning combos with rapid slash. lol. But there are allot of great stuff Zero and Strider can do off rapid slash and my vergil is way better than my dante.
zero with disruptor is very nice of course, but magneto seems to get nothing out of zero. i guess it isnt an issue though because the only thing magnus needs is sent.
I thought about running Zero / Dante / Vergil but I really like Vergil / Dante much better than Dante / Vergil, but I don’t like having Dante last much these days.
With Zero / Dante / Strider, I don’t think the meter management is really all that strict at all. Just hit them, do lightning loop, kill them. You can use Dante as more of a battery and go for resets if you want, or just say fuck it and play Dante with Strider assist and spend meter as needed. Strider is plenty strong without oroboros in XF3 to not really need meter.
Plus the pairings are just godlike. You have the best assist for Zero, the best assist for Dante, and one of the best anchors in the game. It’s so collapsible, you’re never in a bad spot.
Zero gives Magneto TODs. He has not 1, but actually 4 different ways to set it up that I know:
- Vanilla Raw Tag Combo
- TAC that doesn’t care about HSD.
- Hypergrab “DHC Glitch”
- Combo in Corner > Backdash X2 > Shockwave > Sougenmu DHC > TK
Raikouzen
Attraction + Ryuenjin is pretty good, not as good as Attraction + Jam Session, but still pretty nice. You also have the Ryuenjin invinsible Alpha Counter to work with. You just have to be, emmm, “creative” about it, I guess. Some Psylocke styled mixups are available with Magneto and Ryuenjin because of it’s vertical hitbox and long hitstun (pretty long actually). Also having Sougenmu to safely DHC out of a desperate Shockwave is great (or even get a combo of it if you;re close to the corner). There’s also combo extensions with it, but there are pretty useless seeing how going to a LL setup is better IMO.
Great duo, especially when finished with Dante on the team. I think I finally decided on a team, and it’s going to be one of my old vanilla teams. Also the three characters are very stylish and different, so it’s a very fun team (funner than Sentinel combos for sure).
