Hm WOuld Zero/Frank/Trish work out?
Shopping Cart and Low Voltage would be cool my only worry is that Neither character really helps Zero do big damage… could they? How does Zero even do big damage?

Zero can one hit kill any char in the game with no assists, using his Lightning loop. I would use Zero/Frank/Dante, thats pretty good.
Outside of Lightning Loop you’re only getting big damage with Zero if you’ve got really good combo enders like Jam Session, Hidden Missiles, multi-hit ones that allow some variation of the Steb Extender.
But damage really shouldn’t be your #1 priority with Zero by any means. Find something 95-100% reliable and then find ways to make sure you put yourself/ the opponent in situations where you can execute that plan. Hell snap backs with Sentinel drones on incoming character mixup will get you a long way. It’s Zero’s neutral game that you want to work on so tailor your assists to that and not the damage. (Though that’s a general rule of thumb for everyone anyway).
Vergil will help you corner carry from basic combos but most of the assists in the game do that anyway. I still think Vergil’s only in Zero teams for the DHC damage and that’s it. Doesn’t actually give Zero anything.
Unless the last char helps vergil somehow (like Hawkeye or Doom or Wesker). Actually Vergil’s assists is pretty good for zero, helps him to extend combos, corner mixups and corner carry.
This is why Z/D/S is so good. Dante and Sentinel assists help in neutral game as well as in combos.
You just have to weigh that with having Dante and Sentinel on your team.
Also I think Zero/Vergil is more weighted towards Vergil, since the uppercut assist does wonders for his combos. The fact that Zero always builds meter and can DHC to Vergil while building meter after the DHC is helpful too. But again, it’s mostly for Vergil, not Zero.
Truth. Playing Zero/Vergil/Dante is like playing R3 Zero. Buffs his damage and those assists can be useful but I don’t believe they’re optimal for him utility wise.
Jam Session not optimal? That’s one of his most preferred assists.
Rapid Slash, on the other hand, I agree with. I dropped Vergil pretty early on in Ultimate because I didn’t like sacrificing my neutral game control for a lazy midscreen combo extender.
Ive been switching between Zero/Vergil/Dante or Hawkeye. Seems to work pretty well either way, but with anchor hawkeye, Vergil gets a much better point game and gets useful reset ability.
Maybe I’m not giving Jam Session enough credit as a lockdown assist. Lemme elaborate a bit. Jam Session is nice for sure, but for that quick hitting lockdown assist, I like Akuma Tatsu and DAT CART better. If you can play Dante and you want the sick combo extenders, it’ll definitely get the job done. I just don’t think it’s has everything Zero wants in that type of assist. But it definitely isn’t bad or useless by any means. Sorry for ambiguity.
I don’t know the exact frames, but I think Jam Session might be one of the fastest (good) assists in the game? Is one of the few Zero can use to combo off hi ground throw.
Startup is 37 frames, it’s definitely one of the faster good assists.
It actually has everything Zero wants in an assist. Lockdown, mixup potential, AA capabilities, screen control, superior combo extension, you name it. While Tatsu or the cart are both really good, their overall versatility is limited in comparison to Jam Session which is why a lot of Zero players swear by that assist.
But hell, if you’re more comfortable with tatsu or the cart and you get good results, who am I to argue?
i also ran zero/doom/akuma as a main in vanilla
If I played Dante on my team and the Jam Sesh combo extenders weren’t so damaging I’d run Weasel Shot personally.
I dunno man, I guess I just prefer other assists. But I will concede to you. You’re probably right. Different strokes fo’ different folks?
Respect and likes for some civility though. Nice to see that shit around SRK. These kinda threads used to be just rotten sometimes.
I actually tried Weasel Shot for a little bit when I ran Zero/Vergil/Dante just because Weasel Shot is way better for Vergil, but I didn’t like it very much for Zero. I’ve been using Jam Session since Vanilla so anything else from Dante feels weird. But no doubt, whatever assists work the best for you are the right assists. I was just dropping some Jam Session knowledge based on your original comment, because that’s just how I roll.
In regards to civility, there’s definitely some nasty people on SRK but for some reason the Zero boards avoided those people. Everyone’s too busy breaking our character here to worry about being inhospitable.
I’m considering picking up an alternate team for cases when I need a teleporter (fuck Hawkeye).
Which would you guys think is strongest:
Zero/Strange-Eye/Magneto-Disruptor
Zero/Strange-Bolts/Doom-Missiles
Another possibility is Zero/Dante/Akuma (fuck Vergil). The only problem with this last team is it’s 2 characters that are not on my main team so I get less practice with them, at least on the other teams I’m only switching 1 character out.
Zero/Strange-Bolts/Doom-missiles seem to me to be the better pick for swag :D, lol, & damage…but it’s up to you…because personally i don’t really think Mags disruptor will cut it compared to the rushdown capability of the missiles. Plus Doom seems to me like alot better than mags in ultimate…
I play both Doom and Mags and I think they are roughly on the same level… I would probably give the edge to Mags actually. Doom provides more to Zero through assists and DHC’s though, but the great thing about Disruptor is any time you are pushblocked on the ground you can easily react by calling Mags and doing Hienkyaku-L or M for a free safe left/right mixup (I don’t know if Strange bolts startup fast enough for this).
Disruptor>Plasma Beam
Doom>Magneto
Doom’s Friendship>Magneto’s Friendship
Zero / Dorm / Dante
and:
Zero / Dante / Strider
Zero / Dante / Strider I feel like is the strongest Zero team, but you HAVE to have the lightning loop down to play it to the same level my first team is at. I think having lightning loop opens up a lot of team options for Zero since DHC becomes less important for max damage.
So for run away players I use Zero Dante Strider and for assist spammers I use Zero Dorm Dante since Dorm / Dante team combos blows up assists so hard.
I think Zero/Dante/Strider has ton of potential that still needs to be discovered.
To be honest, the most solid Zero team IMO right now is Zero/Dante/Doom.
