The Zero MvC3 "Team" Thread

They did. Instead of doing the rotation x-amount of times, you just press the attack button x-amount of times.

Looking for that got me reading the early posts in this thread and looooool how embarrassing.

Back then there were a bunch of people (including myself) testing all sorts of moves out of Rekkoha > Devil Trigger like thunderbolt, sky dance, killer bee, launcher, volcano, etc. with no success. It took TWO MONTHS before someone decided to just super jump up and do j.S into a corner combo. We are so good at this game >_>.

(This is the first post in this thread that talks about how good Rekkoha > DT is; but given the context the discussion probably originated in another thread.)

Yeah old posts are pretty embarrassing lol. I used to say Dante/Zero were such bad partners because of “NO DHC SYNERGY”. The days before so many discoveries

I’ve actually been working on a ‘new’ Z/D DHC that makes better use of Devil Trigger moves, specifically Thunderbolt and Air Raid (fly)

All I know now is that it’s possible to combo an air S after a thunderbolt if you hit them the right way. And I’m trying to figure out as many ways to combo into that. Still needs grinding out, and I don’t know how Ultimate will affect these things.

Hopefully Ultimate doesn’t change much of our tech. I really like my dizzy guard setup :frowning:

bro, I just think acid rain loops are badass enough, but this caught my interest.

maybe dante can like shoot his purple stuff 4-5 times, into vortex??? TO THE LAB!

hmmm. can dante get an aerial exchange after zero super???

Vortex won’t work after a full combo due to hitstun scaling, but the lighting’s hitstun if fixed.

Some combo’s I’ve gotten to work after a Z/D DHC:

Acid Rain xN, super jump, lighting x 1-3, j. S.

(after knockdown) Sentinel assist + TK lighting x 3, land, TK lighting, j. S.

(after knockdown)Cold shower stinger, bold move jump, air play, lighting, something? Not sure if j. S can work here.

Still need to lab it.

What I’ve started doing for style points after acid rain is to do million carats so they just get caught by the tip of it and you can jump and do j.S after but the timing is very tight (also if you haven’t used your Zero assist or wall-bounce yet you can do this again by doing stinger wallbounce (no bold cancel) > call zero > acid rain > million carats > j.S…looks fancy as hell).

As much as I’ve said I’m just waiting for Ultimate now, I’ve actually got another video project on the way as a send-off to vanilla. There’s a bonus style combo in there I call “Eight Million” (just a teaser :p).

NOICE. Now I can practice Dante.

Is it worth it now to go into training mode and learn his combos and Bold Cancel to prep for Ultimate?

Yes. His timing looks mostly unchanged in Ultimate and Bold Cancel at first is an extremely awkward thing to learn, but once you learn it it becomes simple and second nature (very much like buster charge switching actually).

Alright then.

Zero/Dante/Wesker. I MIGHT take Wesker out for Wright depending on how different Samurai Edge is. Its a huge Combo extender for Zero from what I have played at least.

Change Wesker to Jaguar Kick assist. You get the Steb combo out of it and it’s better anyway. Good for Dante too. Neither of those characters need Wesker’s OTG assist.

Jaguar Kick huh…how do I do the Steb Combo? I have no idea how lol.

Thanks dude. Off to practice this for a while, maybe extend it a bit more for the hell of it.

I think Samurai Edge has its uses with Zero at least, not Dante though. If you hit your opponent with a raw lvl3 buster, the hard knockdown allows you to call Samurai Edge and then combo (obviously this won’t be possible in Ultimate). It’s also useful for comboing after very low-to-the-ground backwards airthrows which I often use against moves like Taskmaster’s web swing

I’ve never seen the use of Samurai Edge for Zero. Even in the above scenarios, TK dive and almost any assist will pick them up.

May you please stop repeating this “zero don’t need samurai edge” thing like it’s an indisputable truth?
Just watch this

All I see is KillerKai getting exposed by Noel Brown. He never even used Wesker’s OTG assist for Zero. Not like he needs it or anything.

I’ve seen KillerKai play. I know what the OTG assist can do for Zero. But he doesn’t need it. He can OTG by himself. What he does need is an assist like Jaguar kick that will help double his damage output and meter gain, while also serving as a good teleport mixup tool and whatnot. Jaguar Kick is better for Zero.

An example of someone that needs Wesker OTG assist is Haggar.

Samurai Edge assist means combos off of back airthrow and high height forward airthrows. You don’t normally have time to dive OTG after these because of the horizontal distance. Also full screen buster -> run up and call Wesker (you don’t have time to jump forward and dive at anything closer than half screen). I find having these options at the extra ranges to be much more valuable than getting 1 extra launch and lightning at the end of a long combo, but that’s just me.
