Salutations, various peoples! New guy here, and wondering what people’s opinions on Zero(y)/Dante(a)/Doom(a) might be. Currently, It’s been working relatively well for me, as Z’s approaches are covered pretty well by the vertical(Dante) and horizontal(Doom) beams, while the other two have combos that are complimented by the multi-hitting Shipuuga.
Do a search of this thread - you’ll find tons of stuff. Like really. The majority of this thread is probably about teaming Zero with Dante and/or Doom.
Ah, thanks. Looking through a second time, I see I missed some mention of plasma beam’s uses; very informative.
So with Vergil having a couple gameplay videos out now, what are people’s opinion on the Zero/Dante/Vergil team. Vergil’s Rapid Slash assist seems like it would be good for combo extensions and mixups. He has two transformation supers to DHC into if needed and on point he’s almost self sufficient. He’s got air teleports, huge range, a variety of ground bounce inducing moves (so far I only know of stinger for wallbounces.) and an air super that looks like a GOOD version of Maximum Wesker (the air super causes hard knockdown for even more DHC synergy).
I’m looking forward to getting more information on Vergil (like if his super continues if you DHC out for example), but he already seams like a great candidate for my team.
The only thing I want to know about Vergil is if the Spiral Swords super will stay around Vergil if he is tagged out and active while he is an assist. If so, the possibilities are endless.
But since it looks like he’s a meter hog, maybe he’ll be a good anchor.
Also if Rapid Slash assist does all of its hits in the corner, it might work for the assist combo extender. Maaaybe.
Y’all need to come down to MTL and see some real shit. MTL is canada’s hidden gem for fighters, I thought everyone knew that.
I’ll MM this White_R dude.
No doubt your regions have some great hidden talent. My previous post might’ve seemed presumptive, as if I was talking down on peoples’ experience level.
Just the fact is, the player base in my region is extremely stacked with talent, multiple Evo top placers, so the baseline skill is very high. No joke, for Marvel we have high placers (top 25 at Evo) going 0-2 in local tourneys (also attributed to the fact that the game is pretty random). I’m not saying that I’m a gdlk Zero player, but I do know what works and what doesn’t against high level competition.
I was planning on playing good old Zero/Dante/Sent in Ultimate, but I’d like to see how Vergil fits in there. If rapid slash assist is sufficient horizontal coverage it might be worth it to play him as anchor.
I think Vergil could have a good bit of synnergy with Zero. What are his assists other than that Tekkaman Blade rip off move though?
Also I wonder if his Ryouma rip off super stays out if you DHC out of it? Do that into Sougenmou for some easy full screen cover. Zero / Dante / Vergil will probably be a very strong team.
if vergil has a horizontal type of assist almost like a dormammu or possible beam …ish type of assist he would create great team synergy since dante is more of a vertical assist.
Basically every character has a horizontal area assist, the issue is whetherVergil’s assist has a good enough hitbox, priority and/or hitstun to be able to confirm mixups into full combos.
Well there’s a horizontal assist that runs through the entire horizontal plane with orbs… the in match version has invincibility but I don’t know about the assist, problem is he runs at the front of it so there won’t be much priority.
I actually think the judgment cut assist will be best for zero if it’s anything like dormammu’s.
Combo extension and mixup setups.
That’s not something Vergil’s other assists can’t do. Pretty much any assist can. Dark Hole is actually a pretty annoying assist to use for Zero, or anyone.
Hmm doesn’t sound all that good to me. Seth Killian said that Capcom’s going to be buffing zoning by increasing the start up of a lot of projectiles and reducing their recovery. If you’re going to play rush down, you’re going to have to have something on your team to be ready for that. I would ditch one of those characters and put a helpfull assist in there.
I’m still gonna try it out since I like all of the characters. Maybe I can get by playing keep away myself with the team (calling Vergil behind hadangeki->buster seems like a good way to push people out).
as long as the assist provides cover or some decent hit stun while zero teleports behind then its good imo.
Dark hole is a good assist for Zero but it has two flaws:
- long start up
- high hit stun decay (particularly noticeable when used as a combo starter).
It’s still Dorm’s best assist to use with Zero.
With Dark hole it’s possible to relaunch everywhere on the screen, in the corner it’s a little tricky because it tends to appear outside the screen but with some shrewdness everything works out just fine.
That’s true, but for me the most annoying part of Dark Hole is it never covers the area I want it to in a lot of situations. If it was the L version I might like it more, or somewhere between the L and M versions.
Vergil’s 3 assists are Judgement Cut, Upkicks, and Rapid Slash.
Upkicks have no invuln, rapid slash pushes opponent too far away, but with teleport + soft knockdown you can probably use it the same as Jam Session now in a mixup and hopefully the same in the corner.
Judgement Cut is the light version (closest too him) according to GameSpot and when he does this move, he actually steps back so it might not have the same problems in the corner (not even a big deal) as Dark Hole.
Remember that EM Disruptor assist is soft knockdown but it’s a really big chore confirming hits with Zero. Most likely if you want to be playing Zero/Vergil you’ll want a 3rd dedicated assist character.
