My first team that I settled on for a while was Zero (Ryuenjin), Dante (Jam Session), Doom (missiles). Missiles work for Zero, but it’s a different Zero. You play to protect Doom while you get your missile coverage out, and then you can go on the approach quite safely because even if you are hit the missiles will likely break you out of their punish. Luckily Zero is more than capable of holding the line for Doom between Buster, Hadangeki, amazing normals, and Sougenmu.
Difficult to hit?? how difficult?
If you did launcher, MM, buster, command dash down, could you relaunch as you can in vanilla?
I heard some TVs for UMvC3 were laggy… couldn’t this be the issue?
Yes, they were laggy, but the dashes were also slower, meaning you had less time to hit the relaunch. Command dash down -> dash forward launch had really strict timing.
Uh, I could use some opinions. I’ve pretty much settled on having Zero and Ameterasu on the same team. The problem is that I don’t know who should go in and where. I know there is a lot of Dante talk but I just don’t feel like using Dante. That said, I’m not completely beyond using it.
I was thinking of using Felcia, Morrigan, Dormamu or Storm instead. Storm seems like a special mention due to all the DHC synergy and the DHC glitch if I want. Though her assists seem lacking for zero. Does anyone have another idea or opinions?
Zero and Ammy make a good team. I use them. Unfortunately, almost every character you named in that last part are either bad characters or don’t mesh well with Zero and need two assists of their own to be competent.
the buster causes soft knockdown now. So you can’t do MM teleport down into relaunch. zero can still otg just fine but he’s going to need the help of an assist to keep it going. when i was playing i was able to still do otg dive into spencer assist buster shot lighting relaunch so being able to combo after the buster is not impossible you just lose the ability to do one high in the air teleport down and wait for them. I don’t think zero’s dashes are slower the game felt kind of sluggish overall. but i imagine it will be back to normal once the finished version comes out.
UMVC zero>MVC3 zero. by a wide margin.
Even though it seems like Zero is getting buffed in Ultimate…
Do you guys think that the overall buff to zoning/keep away in UMvC3, with both the new and exesting characters, will be an indirect nerf to Zero?
You obviously don’t play against tournament level opponents.
-
Sogenmu costs meter;
Not everybody plays dante;
You obviously don’t know what you can do with samurai edge;
If you think Zero doesn’t need unblockables you are a scrub who only play against other scrubs (just for using your kind of language, jus’ sayin’). -
That combo is nothing impressive.
-
I’m going to just say lol to that.
soft knockdown is indifferent in this issue.
the only thing thar differs buster soft knockdown from hard knockdown is that in soft knockdown they won’t stay on the ground after getting hit, they’ll just fall and roll out straight away as they do as they get hit by lightdash in vanilla.
if there was no other alteration besides turning hard knockdown into soft knockdown you should have no problem at all if you hit them before they hit the ground after the buster.
This is hard to know… but even though zoning is being buffed, canceling stuff into buster improved Zero’s general mobility by a lot. In UMvC3 you can use Raikousen to move quickly, cancel it into buster and raikousen again, for example.
Also, Zero can put more projectiles on the screen now, just Hadangeki, Buster cancel, Hadangeki again and you’ll have a respectable amount of projectile durability in front of you as you command dash to rush…
It’s hard to know how this game will be played once it’s out, but Zero is not an all out rushdown straight forward character, and he’ll probably be fine.
Wolverine should be more worried about this… he lost the ability of negate projectiles in a game projectiles are getting better…
Zero got better mobility AND better zoning in a game projectiles are getting better.
This “buster cancels specials” thing is one of the buffs I’m most looking forward to in this game… the other ones are Ammy Switching weapons in the air, Deadpool canceling guns into teleport and Ryu’s everything
Is it that hard to take things lightly? For what it’s worth my usual training partner placed 2nd at the latest Toronto tourney (losing only to probably the best player in Canada - but that will be determined in a few weeks at T12).
I had a feeling that might be the case. Maybe I will try Storm for awhile. I don’t hate Dante, I just don’t feel like using him right now. I will probably practice it though.
Any reason why you only post here to tell people their opinions are wrong?
I wanna learn Doom so I can play Dante/Sent/Doom. Probably one of the most annoying teams I’ve designed.
Honestly of all the characters I learned when I started Marvel 3, Doom was by far the quickest I got proficient with (I’m not counting Zero here because my TvC experience with him largely carried over). Doom has some unique movement and combo options, but I think if anyone puts work into him they’ll learn him quickly and I also think he’s a great character to get newcomers started on since he’s a solid character who can lay a foundation for virtually every aspect of MvC3 without being too difficult like Magneto.
hey, what are some combos taking the liberties of dooms missiles? are there any combos that zero can do with them?
^I too would love to know the answer to this, (most damaging combo with doom missles)
I know if you press doom assist at the same time as Zero’s launcher that missles will lock the opponent in place and otg by the time you land for Zero’s finisher, but I just started playing Zero so I kinda suck with him at the moment
with doom missles you can land double rekkhoa…i was using zero air combo otg spencer grab charger buster launch m…buster teleport down call doom rekkhoa…missles hit rekkhoa its not that hard to get the timing down for just mash on doom as you land and it will work fine.
Zero can’t be zoned in ultimate. being able to call a beam assist toss a hadgenki full buster shot and and do whatever you want is pretty insane. hadgenki+buster=15 durability points i’m pretty sure thats enough to beat whatever beam they can toss at you. even more if you’re working behind a beam.
I’m seeing a lot of theory talk, both in terms of this game and a game that isn’t even out yet. That’s fine since this is the place for that but info is more solid when backed by facts (IE tournament exp and high level play). Buster special cancels sound stupid good in theory, but we haven’t even seen it in practice and ya’ll are saying stuff like “Zero is super buffed” and “Zero can’t be zoned”.
@Toaster: Duke came off as kind of abrasive but I agree with some of his points. Not everyone plays Zero/Dante (even though they should). KillerKai plays Wesker/Zero and even though they don’t have much special synergy or super advanced combos, it’s been pretty effective in tournament for him. He makes good use of samurai edge and placed top 8 at Revelations. Is he a scrub?
@Avarice: Canada’s best player is Detrimantix? He’s really good but last time I played him he got opened up for free by my Zero (not talking shit, he’s a better overall player than me and we’re cool personally). As an aside, I thought generally Magneto is easier to pick up and be effective with compared to Doom.
Actually, even a lot of tournament level players have issues with blocking/pressing too many buttons. FilipinoChamp (one of the best defensive players ever) was talking about it at a tournament two days ago. People are stubborn and won’t block even when they really should. Especially with Zero, a lot of players may lack matchup experience and not respect his priority. if you watched the Evo stream people were just eating raw jHs to the face. Who needs high level mixups/unblockables when people can’t even hold back properly, lol.
its not theory talk i was actually at evo and played him. so unless they made changes to how he was its going to be very difficult to keep him out with projectiles. When i was testing out what he was able to do with his zoning now. its completely possible(or was in the evo build) to do H FBxxlvl3 buster activate clones so that gives you a plethora of projectile durability to work behind.
unless they’ve changed him he is going to be very effective at zoning. Possibly too good?
Canada is really, really big. Our best player is probably White_R. He wins every tournament around here and is at least 2 plateaus beyond any other player in Ontario. Everyone saw RDK blow it up with Trish on the Summer Jam stream right? White_R bodies him for free every single time they meet. RDK is good no doubt, but I haven’t seen him even place top 4 in an Ontario tourney in a while now, and White_R is on an entirely different level than even the people who beat RDK.
Detrimantix however lives very, very far away and these 2 have never met in tournament so it’s hard to say who is really better.
T12 is coming up in 2 weeks though, and I hope Detrimantix is going. There’s a lot of really top level competition going and I expect people to be really surprised when they see White_R on the stream. I honestly only expect him to lose to Combofiend and Chris G, and I wouldn’t even be surprised if he could beat them.
