yup you have to respect zero’s jump even from fullscreen cause of dash > command dash… so if they try and punish ironman on assist you get free overhead punish and if they decide to block then you are in and if Unibeam lands you start BnB @ 7hits. i definitely like/use/recommend Unibeam.
Going to try zero/trish/dante.
Right now my team is Zero/X-23/Ryu and I’m having some trouble deciding upon assists… I’m definitely sure that I want to use Ankle Slicer for X-23, however I’m not sure what I should be using for Zero and Ryu. I typically start off the match with Zero, land a combo and chain it to his shadow afterimage super, then immediately switch out to X-23 so I can use Zero as an assist with his clone. Zero’s Hadangeki projectile(with the clone) assist seems to really help X-23 get in on the opponent and makes Ryu’s keepaway game that much more annoying. But Zero’s ryuenjin assist is also nice because with the clone it essentially becomes a dragon punch with hyper armor.
With Ryu, I don’t really have any idea. His hadoken assist can really help Zero if I feel like playing keep away. His shoryuken can be nice for getting some pressure off of me. And his Tatsumaki Senpuukayku assist also seems like it can help Zero and X-23 get in on opponents, but it also seems like it can be a really risky move.
So yeah… Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Right now my team is Wesker/Zero/Deadpool. I was running Wesker on point simply because of Zero’s life but I realized today that my Zero is my best character and can really overwhelm people when he’s running point. Naturally I ahve Wesker using his Samurai Edge assist to extend my combos but I can’t figure out what to do with deadpool. I had him using Quick Work because he’d trip people up and get them off of me but I realized that in order to use Zero effectively I need a projectile assist that will keep the opponent busy while I command dash behind them. Trigger Happy works if they’re close because I hit them back into the rest of the bullets when I get behind them with Zero, but I’m still looking for an assist that would work best. Right now it looks like either projectile that aims downwards (either Dante or Amaterasu) or Doom’s rocks would be the best bet. They’d also help Wesker in helping him extend combos as well after OTG samurai edge.
Anyone else got any other recommendations for good assist for crossing people up?
My Current Team that I’m workin with is:
Zero a
Trish a
Chun-li y
I use Trish and Chun to continue my launch combos in the corner and have Zero on Point as long as possible. Zero and Chun are my pressure characters and Trish is an imbalance of keep away.
Still in the lab but I’m happy to say I can do a 101 hit combo with my assists :woot:
I’ve been thinking about running Zero (Hidangeki – Point) / Haggar (Lariat – 1st Assist – 2nd in) / Captain (Shield Slash – 2nd Assist – Anchor). I thought this would be a good idea, because:
Lariat can protect Zero in the corner, as well as it can be used to keep opponents in the air after a H Sentsuizan re-launcher for a longer combo. Captian’s Shield Slash can be used to get behind people trying to turtle Zero’s rush-down. Once Zero loses some life, you can Sougenmu (Shadow Clone) and then pull Haggar in. Double Hidangeki’s from Zero would make a great assist for getting Haggar in position, and Captain would be used for the same purpose as with Zero.
The only thing I am doubting is Captain for the 3rd because Zero can H Hienkyaku behind opponents as it is, so Shield Slash might not be as useful for him as for Haggar. Maybe Wesker’s OTG might be a better fit? As much as I don’t really like playing Wesker.
What do you guys think? Is there a better 3rd choice? Also, I refuse to play Sentinel. Ever.
You know…you’ve just given me an idea. I’ll have to hop in the lab with Haggar and that Lariat as I think it might work well with both Zero and Wesker. I could be wrong but it may be able to help extend Wesker’s OTG which is an issue I was having in the post above with an assist that can help both Zero and Wesker.
Well firstly I just wanna say use whoever you like man, lol. The game is still new.
But anyway, I say keep Captain. Using his Shield Slash assist in unison with hienkyaku can help cross opponents up if you time it right because of the 2 hits. Plus like you said, it’s still useful for Haggar to get it.
Currently running a rushdown team of Zero(Hadangeki)/Dante(Weasel Shot)/Doom(Missiles). I rush with Zero and if I can keep close to my opponent to pressure (getting them close to the corner) I’d use Dante’s assist to keep pressure/extend combos, or Doom’s missiles from a little further away and attempt command dash mixups. Also good with rushing as Dante on point, my weakest character atm is Doom, mainly getting stuck either trying to play keep away if he’s my last character or somehow figuring out how to get in without assists. Any suggestions for this team, maybe different assists or maybe even character changes to help Zero better?
I Main on deck Hsko(A)/Dante(A)/Zero(A) In this order but zero is point
This team I love alot but h8 there stamina alot (especially 5 hit combo into sentinel drones -_-) but are good for rushdown and can qet in on keep away teams pretty well…Sending in Hsko first and activating her f,d,df + ATT ATT super then switching out to zero is a definite plus because she recives NO hit stun while sent out so she goes through anything but still takes damage tho so use her wisely or when u need to get through some mid screen projectiles/out the corner/break block strings etc…She also aids zero in his rush down very well adding PLENTY off damage and offers a great otg to extended combos after setsuizan etc, also dantes jam session assist does the same and can chain into rekkoha while he opponent is getting hit into jam session.
When Zero seems to be taking alot of damage you can DHC his soul body into dante’s DT while dante can still hold a very good rushdown game or keep away and builds alot of meter and can do alot of damage without and can get in on keepaways via teleport very well. Also as you DCH zero will remain in his soul body state and ryujin will hit twice so even if the main zero gets hit the clone will still attack. Only downside about this team is there low stamina and if your Hsko gets taken out before you can activate super/switch out your in trouble
That’s one of the teams I run. I’d put Dante on Jam Session though - it’s almost too good not to use. Zero’s anti-air game is pretty mediocre but Jam Session is amazing anti-air, and it’s even great for extending combos unlike most anti-air assists. Also you don’t need an OTG assist as Zero either since from an air combo you can do J.:s: call Jam Session Assist, Sentsuizan to OTG them into the Jam Session and continue the combo. Missiles is an amazing assist for Zero; it covers the command dash mixup so well. Keep Zero on Hadangeki assist, it’s probably his best assist, Dante doesn’t need any help extending combos so Shippuga is pretty well out (it doesn’t do much for Doom either), and Hadangeki is good for covering Dante’s teleport mixup if Doom is unavailable. The other option would be to run Ryuenjin assist for Doom since Doom’s anti-air is… pretty well nonexistent, it doesn’t do much for Dante though because he has a toolbox full of anti-air options.
Thanks a lot for the opinions. I was initially using the Jam Session assist, but I thought Weasel shot was a safer assist for me since Dante jumps back during it while still sending the bullets a good distance in front of him. Wasn’t having much luck initially with Jam Session (or using it properly as an anti-air to begin with) since I had a bad habit of calling him at bad times that resulted in him or both of us getting punished. Gonna try and run it again for a while and see if I can work on that.
So last night I was toying around with Zero,Amaterasu (Cold Star),Taskmaster (AAA). This team seems intriguing, but I haven’t gotten it to click yet, Thoughts?
Signed,
Everybody
I’m having mad trouble figuring out a team for Zero. He’s currently my favorite and best character, but I just can’t figure out who else to use to compliment him. Originally I was using Zero/X-23/Morrigan as those were just the characters I was best at. I wanna change that up and kinda center my team around Zero.
Lately I’ve been replacing X-23 with Dormammu, Arthur, and Doom. Their assists compliment Zero so well. Any input from other Zero players who have tried a team similar to that?
Got to try Zero/Ammy today. Ammy’s assist is probably the 2nd best assist for Zero in the game, 1st being Sent Drones IMO. Command Dash mix-ups are extremely easy with it, and with Shipugga leaving you at +4 on block, you can easily call Ammy during Shippuga and then go for a mix-up. Zero’s Genei-Hadangeki assist is amazing itself, so Ammy uses good use of it, even do Ammy doesn’t need that much assists (kind of like Storm or IM). I think everybody should give this combination a try. The only bad thing is that if you combo after the Ice Shots, you already have like 9hits on the hitstun scale that would probably make you drop the Bnb on the third Shippuga before the launcher. This might be able to OTG in pair with Zero Sentsuizan to launch, still testing.
Zero/Wesker/Ammy
I’ll display some stuff on saturdays stream of Rival Schools 3.
I’ll go through
- some unblockables (or near enough)
- mix up options
- escape options
Cool man, at what time does the stream starts?
Zero/Wolv/Sent
Rush down or die trying.
X-23, Amaterasu, Zero.
It’s all about the rushing, I hate to play keep away in this game. >.<
Tron/Zero/Thor for the moment
Zero Handeki or Shippuga assist helps Tron combo off of her OTG. Tron fire assist helps lengthen Zero’s ground combo. Probably going to go with Handeki assist since I don’t have any projectile assists.
