Generically good assists, and everyone can DHC to each other via vertical supers (rainbow, up hadouken, sphere) Nothing bad, really, but it’s not Zero/Dante/Sent.
Depending on who I have on my team and their character’s aerial options.
Since I always have Dante, this is generally my go to mix up as it bodies everyone, even those with aerial options (Mags/Storm/PMS bitch):
Jam Session>L or M hienkyaku
Pretty straight forward 50/50, sentinel can get out with harddrive though buster will punish his ass. If the Jam session is blocked, I can go for a L Raikousen which might cross up or not.
I do the same thing with Trish and Peekaboo, as well as Haggar Lariat, but it can be escaped by characters with aerial options
With sentinel, I do M or H raikousen(works midscreen too!) covered by hidden drones, if the lightning is blocked, I do the overhead/low mixups
With Zero by himself, meaty M raikousen midscreen is hella ambiguous and leads to full combos.
Can someone tell me whats so great about dante/zero/dormammu? I can’t really figure it out.
A quick question, i’m trying to run Zero, Dante, Doom… (with Zero Ryuenjin, Dante Jam Session, and Doom Beam assists)… what I want to know is, how do you DHC from Zero’s Rekkoha to Dante and how do you DHC from Dante to Zero ???
answers are appreciated
Rekkoha -> Devil Trigger is the main DHC. Follow up with an Acid Rain combo, wall bounce combo, ground bounce, and throw in whatever assists you have left.
Million Dollars -> Sougenmu works (at least in the corner, it can probably work midscreen too.) If you DHC right when the last few bullets hit them and make them spin. Then you can combo into the lighting loop. In the corner you can also just do Rekkoha.
@Evil_Toaster do you have any video that shows Rekkoha to Devil trigger and Acid Rain Combo ??
Or can you give me the notations for the Acid Rain Combo ?
So Im trying to build a zero team, been considering trying my hand at some maverick hunting. Right now Im running zero/amateratsu/dormammu, but I just stuck dormington on anchor on another one of my teams and I like to have 3 different characters on each team so could y’all give me some suggestions for my third character? Im not a big fan of anchors who can’t hold their own or are riddled with bad match-ups(sentinel, tron, haggar, you get the point) so any suggestions?
I have scripts on this page turned off so I can’t see if it embeds the video, but go to 10:10 in that video if it doesn’t automatically.
Should be Zero/Dante/Doom. IMO
hey guys i stopped playing mvc3 since the beginning becuase i hated x-factor being to powerful and dieing in one combo but i plan to pick up again when umvc3 comes out. i was thinking of using this team: Zero/Iron Man/Trish. do you think this team will work and might there be some setups that they all can do their part in making them all useful?
Kinda silly if you ask me. If you want a beam assist, you should use Doom, since he’s overall better than Iron Man and Zero doesn’t have a problem with the Plasma Beam knockdown. Trish-b isn’t bad for Zero, and you get the Trish Trap after a hard knockdown which can be followed up with a Sougenmu unblockable. (Round Harvest, DHC or hard tag to Sougenmu, unblockable)
But honestly, if you want to play Zero at his best, you pretty much need Dante or(and) Sentinel. Drones for valuable setups, Dante for everything else. I know it sounds like I’m just hyping up my own team but I’m super serious.
Look at the first post on this *page, *that video shows the Trish+Zero unblockable set-up. Iron-Man’s Unibeam assist is great for Trish and probably the best overall assist for Zero. This team doesn’t give much to Iron-Ma though, and Iron-Man and Zero DHC is pretty bad, the same could be said about Trish+Zero without counting the unblockable set-up and the extra Maximum Voltage after Round Harvest DHC after Rekkouha.
If I were you, I would use:
*If you want to use Trish and Zero.
- Zero-a/Trish/Dante-a
- Zero-a/Trish/Doom-b
- Zero/Trish/Sentinel-a
I’d like some input on my current team. I’m running Zero(shippuga)/Spencer(slant shot)/iron man(unibeam). Basically zero dhcs well with spencer’s bionic arm, spencer can dhc trick into zero and iron man dhcs well into both of them. Slant shot allows for both zero otgs and incoming mixups and iron man provides a beam assist the helps both other characters. Meanwhile shippuga barely gets used anyway and can work a little bit as a pressure assist for Spencer.
Before you tell me to drop iron man for doom, while zero handles the knockdown from plasma beam well, Spencer I feel does not. Also I just like iron man.
My main problem is I’m having trouble getting good damage out of this team beyond a double relaunch (buster and assist). However I only have mediocre execution from a marvel standpoint (most of my experience is with sf style links).
I originally ran a zero Dante combo but frankly I just don’t jive well with Dante whether he be paired with iron man’s beam or drones.
Other teams I play occasionally: wolvie/task/akuma (my old main team) and trish/deadpool/sentinel (team keepaway+dhc glitch)
I came up with a new team (mostly by it being necessitated by the god-awful netcode of this game) and I think I’m going to make it my second team.
Zero-α/Doom-α/Haggar-α
Sadly I came up with this early Sunday morning and immediately realized how amazing it was but everyone’s just gonna think I’m riding the bandwagon of Haggar’s success at Evo even though this was before I saw any of it >< (MvC3 hipster right here yo).
Anyone who’s read anything on this forum is already familiar with the Zero/Doom synergy so I won’t go too much into it. You get one of the absolute best assists in the game to cover your approaches and amazing DHC synergy.
With Zero/Haggar you get a few things: 1) Advantage in the match start mixup - if you go for air-throw + call Haggar at the start you either win or tie; 2) Incredible corner/knockdown pressure - thought pressing buttons against Zero was hard? Try it against Zero/Haggar; 3) Decent DHC synergy; 4) The obvious: incredible defensive tool that leads into full combo (you can do Shippuga loop*2 into full combo if you catch them out of Lariat with s. or c.
Doom/Haggar is actually something I’ve seen used to great effect before, so I’m kinda disappointed with myself for not thinking of this team sooner. Doom obviously has great keepaway from mid-far ranges, and has really solid rushdown, but his weakness has always been getting someone off of him when they get in his face. Haggar - no more weakness. Doom also has normals that OTG making for incredibly easy followups from a Lariat knockdown.
The final point to make about this team is about X-Factor. I usually cringe when I see an assist-tier anchor (Tron, Haggar), but this team is designed to use X-Factor early and never need an anchor. Kill off a character with Zero at the start - this should be pretty easy actually, you have so many advantages going into the start of the round, and a combo into DHC to Doom will kill just about anyone. Switch back to Zero immediately after throwing Sphere Flame DHC and you will have plenty of time to mixup their next character’s entry. As soon as you have their most important character caught in a combo (whether it’s a Phoenix you snapped in or a point-Wesker) X-Factor and kill them. In the initial stage of all this if the Sphere Flame DHC isn’t enough to kill their character then do X-Factor double Rekkoha instead (or if you need WAY more damage Rekkoha DHC Sphere Flame X-Factor Sphere Flame) and make absolutely certain that you kill off their next character before that X-Factor runs out. If you can do this and get it down to a 3v1 you win. Honestly even Dark Phoenix should not be able to make a comeback at this point (and hopefully you snapper her in and killed her anyway).
I don’t think this is the best Zero team by any stretch, but it is certainly one of the better ones. I will be running this as my secondary team in tourneys, probably against people who like to blindly rush in and press too many buttons.
I think my zero team has some great synergy guys. Check it out and tell me what you think.

I fought someone at Evo using Zero / Phoenix / Tron… god. Zero + Tron is so hard for another Zero, that team is crazy. Other than that match though my team did really good at Evo. Had a chance to fight Evil Rahsan, Neo, P.Gorath to name a few.
Ok so my team is Zero(Hadangeki)/Doom(Beam)/Phoenix(TK Overdrive). I’m thinking of getting rid of Phoenix and putting in Dante as a second and making an entirely different team for Phoenix because I’ve realized how many times I land a hit already but can’t get a full kill on some high health characters. My question is, do you guys think Dante would fit better on my team than Phoenix or is my team good enough as it is? The only reason I have this team is because these are my favorite characters and it’s the first team I decided on using.
If you really want to play Zero/Doom/Phoenix, then that’s a good choice IMO because they are your favorite characters and that team actually works very good together. Zero and Doom fit very very nicely together, and they actually builds TONS of meter. I would recommend changing Zero’s assist to Ryuenjin so Doom gets better combos and builds more meter.
Zero/Dante/Anyone is a good team, just saying.
K, I’ll stick with my team then and try out Ryuenjin instead.
