The Zero MvC3 "Team" Thread

I’ve been trying to put together a Zero/Viper team also. Right now, I’m messing with Chris (Gunfire)/Zero (Handangeki or Ryuenjin)/Viper (Burn Kick). Haven’t played anyone, just still getting a feel for what could be possible. The initial plan is Chris on point control space early on. I don’t like the idea of having a low health character on point in the game’s current climate due to the crazy damage from the DHC glitch. Chris’ job is to control the early game by picking spots to chip (primary focus) and land combos from TK Shotgun or unblockables using Viper assist (secondary). I want to limit the options the opponent has available when Zero comes in, making him a little safer and at the same time a license to rushdown.

I feel like Viper has an innate advantage at the anchor spot due to her focus and EX attacks combined with lvl3 X-Factor. I’m thinking it’ll be worth taking 3-5 hits while X-Factor’d to charge an unblockable focus in an endgame 1v1 or 1v2 situation. Seismo chaining gives her some excellent zoning as well. Everything I look at with her just gives her a ton of advantages if it comes down to a 1v1 situation.

DHC’s work pretty good thus far. Most excited that Chris’ lvl3 is available from Rainbow and both of Viper’s lvl1 hypers. Surprisingly, his Sweep Combo does well when coming from Rainbow.

Other anchors could be Akuma, Task, Doom, Phoenix or Tron. I may be pretty much settled on Chris/Zero and I’m about 80% on Viper, with Akuma, Phoenix and Tron being the strongest other possibilities.

Damage after DHC (No assists, same combo before DHC)
**834k dante **
**833k sent **
**831k doom **
763k ammy
823k viper
**837k wolverine **
770k wesker
760k tasky
**836k dormammu **
***900k ***HULK

Remember, this is with a solo Zero combo, so it uses no assists. Most characters assist allow Zero to do atleast 110k more on every combo. BTW, Dormammu’s
stalking flame does 10k less than Chaotic Flames. Sent super is Plasma Bubble, Doom is Sphere Flame, Viper is Burst Time, Wolverine Fatal Claw, Taskmaster upward arrows. HULK >:) is Gamma Crush.

So I’ve been running my new team to great success:

Zero (Hadangeki) / Dorm (Dark Hole) / Dante (Jam Session)

So obviously both non zero assists allow for lock down. Zero can Sougenmou > Chaotic flame after buster for easy full screen damage if he’s out of range of command dash > rekkoha. That leaves you with dorm with Zero’s double hadangeki (godlike with his teleports) and Dante with his space control and knock back assist. You can easily hit confirm into damage off flame carpet with Jam session. If you DHC at the end of a combo from rekkoha to stalking flare and the flare kills them but doesn’t use up all it’s hits, you can lay a flame carpet and teleport behind them with a jump in for easy unblockables with jump in > flame carpet. You can DHC back to Zero with Flare > Sougenmou to put them in block stun, command dash up, and do sougenmou unblockables, or DHC to devil trigger and go for whatever with dante.

Zero / Dorm just work super good together, I never though about them being that great before but outside their synnergy just as far as what they can do, Dorm also covers the things Zero has trouble with. You have balls to the wall rush down and then balls to the wall zoning.

Amaterasu just became one of Zero’s best partners (as if she wasn’t already) imo. She has the only assist that is both useful for helping you get in, and can be used as a full combo extender for Zero’s more advanced combos (including RTL).

Copied from the combo thread:
Hey guys, I just found that Amaterasu’s Cold Star assist can be used for the double Raikousen combo finisher (Steb’s combo) like Jam Session, Chun Legs, Skrull Tenderizer, and Wesker Jaguar Kick. I knew I had tested it before today but it struck me as really odd that it wouldn’t work. All you have to do is delay the OTG just a bit after the assist call so that the first hit of Cold Star whiffs, and then the rest of the assist will hold them in place for the combo. I’m probably going to be changing my team now too; either Dante/Zero/Ammy or Dante/Zero/Skrull, I haven’t decided yet; Doom is still good, but I’m not very good with him and he’s not really my kind of character (I like stylish fast characters usually).

That was knew a long time ago Avarice XD.

Repost from the combo thread but yeah, Ammy with Zero is a mixed bag. She doesn’t do much damage and she dies rather quickly like Zero, so you better be real solid with her. If you’re running her after Zero, your DHCs will suffer a bit in the damage department. Otherwise though, cold star is awesome, just make sure to call it under cover of your normals because she gets wrecked pretty easy when called as an assist.

Wait, seriously? For the longest time I thought it was only Jam Session and Chun Legs that worked, then EvilToaster posted this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwimdSvBpe0 and in the description it lists Dante, Chun, Skrull, and Sentinel (aside from Wesker) but no Ammy. People gotta speak up >_>

In my defense, I also said “And many other multi hitting assists” so there’s that.

Also, you are going to be very happy with the video I’m working on this moment. Some Ammy/Zero/Dante stuff. Could become my secondary team. I’ll put it up here in a bit. I’m doing most of the research at the same time that I’m recording it.

Edit: Oh, more accurately, I said that quote in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kq7fEsdBN4c I just assumed you’ve seen it

I had seen it; I don’t think the annotation listing the assists was there when I watched it though. I actually have a Dante/Zero/Doom video finished but I keep thinking of new stuff to add so I haven’t made it public yet XD

Back when Steb found that combo extension I actually tested every assist in the entire game to find what works but I didn’t have much time to play around with changing the timings so I only found Jam Session and Legs.

Took me long enough. Here ya go.

Nice toast, I was looking for good amaterasu combos on that team.
I cant decide on my main team.
It’s either:
Zero/Dante/Sentinel
Zero/Dante/Amaterasu
Zero/Doom/Sentinel
Zero/Doom/Amaterasu

Doom and Sent are my MVC2 mains, and Ammy and Dante are the my favorite newcomer characters.

Zero/doom/doggy seems unique

Could take a note from Clockw0rk and have something like Zero/Ammy/Doom with hidden missiles.

Nah Kef’s all about that Plasma Beam.

I’m pretty sure I’m picking up Ammy for my third, but I’m keeping my mind open to Skrull, Chun, Phoenix, Trish, Sentinel, and Dormammu. Making up teams in this game is more fun than actually playing the game ^^

Lol its big boy dress up pretty much. You know we all base our teams off if they match also haha

if i use wolverine what assist should i use that would be best for zero right now im using the Y assist

Berserker barrage has the most uses out of wolverines assist. The timing for using it for OTGs is really tight though. Slash gives a little longer to combo on OTG but it also tends to launch them unpredictable directions, so I’d say stick with barrage.

So I’m new to MvC3 and obviously have trouble building a team.

I generally like to have some zoning capabilities, though not so much keep away, more forcing my opponent into a position I want them in (Lambda in BB:CS, Ermac in MK9).

I first tried Dante/Zero/Ammaterasu, but I simply couldn’t do anything with Ammy and with Dante, while at first I found his basic attacks easy to use and made some simple 30-40%ish combos, I really can’t pull off a lot of Dante’s moves, those double input ones are absolutely brutal. Doesn’t help that MvC3 seems to register about 4x the amount of inputs as other games and I screw up my inputs all the time.

I then switched to Zero/Dante/Sentinel and I’m liking Zero as point a lot even though he seems more of a rushdown character, but I am still hopeless with Dante’s more advanced techniques. Sentinel also just doesn’t really seem my kind of character and while I know it there and others use it, I can’t really find the synergy with Zero for my playstyle.

If I could keep Dante though it would be awesome, maybe I’m missing something entirely with how his moves work, but I really like his tricks and he seems to have many options.

I was thinking maybe Zero/Dante/Storm or Zero/Dante/Akuma?

Any better options? If I was to drop Dante I don’t really have a clue who I’d pick up there either.

Dante is worth the investment, especially if you plan on playing Zero.

Zero/Dante/Sentinel is pretty well rounded. Zero/Dante/Akuma is gets a little better rushdown and is a little more Dante oriented, so starting Dante wouldn’t be a bad idea. You may also want to try Zero/Doom/Sentinel, since they have a lot of zoning options.

I played the robot women in BB too so I know how it is. I play Zero like I play CS1 Mu.

I had an idea…

How would Zero a/ Dante a/ Wesker b fare? Those Wesker gunshots really help a scrub like me extend my pitiful combos.
