i use tron as the assist, is there something wrong with that or should swap her out for doom bc i do use doom as the assist on the side
Isn’t beta his Horizontal arrow? Ooops.
Should add Dante-a to that list. Jam Session is best Zero assist.
a-horizontal
b-parabolic
y-vertical
I also agree that Jam Session is a good assist for Zero, which is part of why I run Zero/Dante/Taskmaster. Taskmaster/Dante is such a good pairing (Air Trick + Aim Master [horizontal] and Sword Master + Jam Session, plus much better space control) and both characters support Zero well, as well, using the same assists they use to support each other. I put Dante in the middle so I can swap Zero and Taskmaster back and forth without worrying about losing a lot of red life any time I lose a character, but it means I don’t wind up with a full-life anchor. I also like how all three characters can work well as meter users or meter builders. I’m actually kind of surprised I’ve only ever seen one other guy running this team, especially considering their tier placement and the whole sword theme going on.
Dante (weasel shot)/Zero (shippuuga)/Felicia (Rolling Buckler)
Felicia is the one character I insist on repping because the little kitty needs love. Dante and Zero get unblockable setups out of their teleports along with kitty’s low hit assist and Dante’s Weasel Shot keeps enemies in place while I go for the hienkyaku shenanigans/mixups. Not to mention the DHC glitch between dante and both Zero and Kitty.
What do you guys think?
I had this team in the back of my mind for a little while. While the Dante/Felicia unblockable setup should be known by now, Zero can only reliably setup the unblockable in the corner without worrying about push block, and it’s not perfectly timed together so it’s not an air tight unblockable. There’s still use for it I’m sure though, I didn’t spend much time trying to figure out how Zero could use Felicia assist.
Also, switch Dante to that Jam Session. I would even put Zero on Ryuenjin for better Dante combos.
Is there any way to DHC Zero into Tron? It seems like Rekkoha launches them way too high to DHC after.
The only way to combo after Rainbow is to DHC to Tron’s level 3 (or x-factor after something else.) You can also DHC Sougenmu to Lunch Time, but I can’t figure out how to DHC to big man, not sure if possible.
yeah I thought so. I was doing rekkoha into level 3 stuff earlier, but that’s a lot of meter.
This is probably old but you can use Wolv’s slash assist and still keep the character on the same side. Basically it works like Wesker/dante/ akuma/mag etc… for the relaunch.
The timing is hard. Hitting the slash is really easy, but getting it not to cross up is hard. Most of the time the slash cross them up and they go other side… which is useless to you if you have them in the corner. However every now and then I can keep them on the same side so it works like all the other assist.
what do u guys think of she hulk with zero
There’s a few things they can do together. They can DHC to eachother well enough. Rainbow DHC’s fine after Emerald Cannon, and Emerald Cannon and follow ups can DHC after the Rainbow if you DHC just before the first hit. Otherwise the followups won’t combo.
Zero gets a low+OTG assist out of She Hulk, which gives him some unblockable setups and even some cross up setups due to the long range of She Hulk’s assist. You can call She Hulk before doing an H Hienkyaku for an unblockable, or call her before an L or M Hienkyaku for a cross up.
She Hulk can use Zero’s Shippuga assist like Tron, and cover some of her command throw options in similar ways (works well with H version,) but I think it would be better to just have Tron in that case. Zero can use Tron assist as well, and Zero can then be put on Hadangeki assist which helps out both She Hulk and Tron, especially when he’s powered up with Sougenmu. Call Hadangeki assist, and run forward with She Hulk using Chariot, the projectile goes at the same speed as She Hulk, great cover. Then use Emergency Stop and mix them up.
I don’t use She Hulk much, and I only spent a little while in the lab coming up with that stuff but hopefully that’s helpful.
thanks a lot man
Dante (Jam)/Zero(Ryuenjin)/<assist character> is one of the most solid team constructions in the game. For the 3rd, something like Sent(drones), Ammy(ice shot) Task(H.arrows), Akuma (tatsu) or Tron(flame) to round it out. Basically any good horizontal assist that will aid your rushdown and mixup.
Believe me guys, I know how frustrating it is spending hours in training mode and still dropping Dante combos. I mained Dante even before the game came out (lol pre-release) and I dropped him for a period just because I couldn’t deal with advanced execution in tournament. However I picked him up again because of the potential. He has amazing synergy with Zero. If you can do his advanced BnB with all the bold cancels and finish off with Jet stream (which pushes to the corner) into Crazy Dance, you get near 600K pre-DHC. Do the full loop with Zero and OTG into Jam session and you will kill Thor for 0 starting gauge. People use stinger->grapple for a shorter combo but easier DHC glitch. Getting Crazy Dance as a DHC glitch starter is very tricky (it’s a 2 framer) but undeniably worth it for the extra damage and meter gain.
Even without the really difficult stuff, you get decent DHCs with guns into Rekkoha (corner only) or Rekkoha into DT jS OTG combo. And seeing from the combo thread, Jam session is one of the best assists for maximizing Zero’s damage potential. Also, If you guys didn’t know, Ryuuenjin assist can be used to setup the Acid Rain loop.
Backed by a good assist and good execution, I feel this pairing is one of the strongest you can play in this game.
This. As if any of you couldn’t tell already I am a huge fan of Zero/Dante. Also works pretty well with Phoenix-b, Trish-b, Doom-anything, and probably a few others.
Also, here’s a demo I made the other night of the Ryuenjin assist acid rain setup you mentioned, cause why not.

When the game was about to come out, my team was Zero/Dante/Sentinel. When I first tried it out it was good, but the DHC potential from Zero and Dante was horrific. The combo everybody knew back then with Dante was Killer Bee>Sesame Street>Sky Dance, and boy if you wanted to be advance, you would add Reverb Shock into Fireworks at the end, but only if you wanted to be fancy lol. I saw no future on the team, there were a lot of better options.
Yesterday and today I went back to the team, and I think it could be one of the best Zero teams if not the best in the game. My BnBs with Zero and Dante both build 2 meters ensuring the DHC, which with both do 1mil damage. Sentinel gets Jam Session which he loves for combos and such, Dante uses both drones and ryuenjiin for combos, and Zero loves Jam Session for vertical control (and combo extension) and comboability from a forward airthrow, and drones to get in and control the screen. Everybody find an use for the other 2 characters (maybe not Sent utilizing Zero yet) making amazing Synergy. I am pretty sure Zero+Dante couple can seriously rival Zero+Doom, but I think Zero/Doom might be a little better, for now.
I also wanted to make Zero and Viper fit together on a team, so came up with Zero/C.Viper/Amaterasu. Amaterasu holds people down for Viper’s focus attack in the corner and for her crazy mix-up game. Amaterasu also helps Zero just go crazy with teleports thanks to Ammy’s amazing 68 active frames on her assist. Zero’s Ryuenjin lets Ammy combo into super at the very end of a combo that utilizes ground bounce. Viper can use Ryuenjin to extend her combos a bit, and can combo out of it on hit in the air. Zero just used Viper’s assist for combos (especially of a forward air throw) and to zone better such characters like Hulk and Haggar which get zoned very easy. This team I find to be very fun, but you have to have at least enough good execution to use Viper and Zero correctly.
So from all the teams I’ve seen that have Zero on, this would be my personal top 3 favorites at the moment
1# Zero-a/Dante-a/Sentinel-a
2# Zero-a/Doom-a (or beta if you prefer)/Sentinel-a
3# Zero-a/Viper-b/Amaterasu-b
And yay for my 1000th post!
Zero and this game have a lot of time left to grow so let’s try find new stuff guys, and just not come here and ask questions to us who most of the time know the answer, but contribute so everybody can get better. Okay, so now I am off to fix the matchup thread :).
All this. Zero/Dante/Sent is definitely one of the best Zero teams, as well as a strong Dante team. Sent has basically been reduced to an assist character after the nerf. ( ;_; ) The drones provide Zero with amazing okizeme setups that force opponents to block no matter how they roll. And of course Jam Session gives Zero everything he’s lacking.
Currently my Zero team rankings go something like this.
1# Zero-a/Dante-a/Sentinel-a - I like to call them the Three Hunters (see sig for details.) Pretty much the optimal Zero team.
2# Zero-b/Doom-a/Sentinel-a - Wannabe Clockw0rk. This team is absolutely filled lockdown traps. Doom/Sent have the Hidden Missile trap, Zero/Doom have the Hadangeki Trap, and Sent with Doom and Zero assist has complete ground control.
3# Zero-a/Dante-a/Akuma-b - I call them Team Japan, because I see a lot of japanese players use it for some reason. Less setups for Zero, but Akuma assist can get people scared, and still adds to his pressure game and damage output similar to Sentinel assist. Also lets Dante combo off the air guns way more easily
4# Zero-a/Trish-b/Dante-a - A little untapped potential here I think, Zero can make extreme use of Trish’s round harvest trap + Sougenmu. Dante and Trish work pretty well together on their own too, so I think there’s something solid here.
Made a quick video of said unblockable reset.

5# Zero-a/Dante-a/Phoenix-b - Mainly because Zero and Dante can build massive amounts of meter together, why not pair them with Phoenix?
I like that reset. Yeah, Zero/Doom/Sentinel is a wannabe Clockwork, only if we had Strider. Zero+Strider <3
Dante/Zero/Doom not getting enough love here. It’s basically the same thing as Dante/Zero/Sent though, you just trade the extended pressure/lockdown from drones for the very short pressure/lockdown from plasma beam and better DHC synergy. I think Doom is better on point than Sentinel too, but maybe I’m crazy. I have been thinking of trying Dante/Zero/Phoenix too though.
“All I have to do is put traps and teleport and press buttons. I don’t even know what buttons I’m pressing, I just know that you’re dying.” - Me, the first day I used Phoenix after 5-0’ing someone in casuals while using an entire team I had never used before. The character is stupid.
What DHC’s do the most damage for just two bars? I know Fatal Claw into Rekkoha does good damage but what else? Devil Trigger after Rekkoha is cool but for just two bars what does it max out at? I am interested in knowing Rekkoha -->Stalking Flare, Rekkoha --> Sphere Flame (does this work vice versa?), Rekkoha -->Okami Shuffle (vice versa?) damages. I know combos before hand matter but considering standard BnBs what are the damage outputs? I can’t test myself right now
