a2G sucks. they removed chun’s cancellable low MK. nerfed 70% of her poking game.
I thought A2 was balanced enough as it was made, Gold just made changes that made people upset.
A2g just screwed the whole A2 meter management strats for the lower tier characters. AC’s were too costly in favor of CCs or SCs, and it was already enough of a challenge to get your meter charged back up when you have Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li in your face, charging their meters faster than you.
Chun Li’s low MK cancel removal was one of the few good moves they made, it’s not like it was completely nerfed as a poke, just that BS cancel. At least she didn;t get totally screwed like the Grief and Charlie.
The 2 Button custom thing was cool, I guess.

i think ken is even better in a2g.
yeah ac’s take more meter, but his cc does the same damage (although not unblockable) and he gained close s.rh, and is completely unchanged otherwise. add that to the fact the other top tier was nerfed, (except rose…too much) and he’s easily number 1.
after reading majestros cvs2 article on kattobi cancelling, I had to ask if they extended to A2.
are there any useful kattobi cancels in A2?
aka, karacancelling moves in to activate.
in particular anything useful for chun?
i mostly play snk games, but ive played enuff capcom games. . . but until recently i just ignored alpha 2, but seeing this thread made me want to give it a try, and its soo good. I def like it more then a3 among other sf games.

one:its a2 gold (why?)
two: its on saturn (again why? no one has saturn pads/sticks anymore)
three: regardless of gold/regular, the ps2 versions are better, and people actually have sticks for ps2.
one: A2Gold is more balanced than A2 in most peeps opinions.
two: Anyone can bring any system of their choice. My crew just happens to be bringing multiple Sega Saturn systems/pads/MAS sticks with copies of A2Gold because that’s what we mostly have. Feel free to bring a PS2 with the game if possible though.
three: Sorry, but those Saturn pads were just godly! Again, feel free to join our gathering with a PS2 and your copy of the game.

Oh and BTW, why do I keep reading in every post ever made about SFA2 Gold that Chun Li’s low Forward kick doesn’t 2-in-1 into her specials anymore when that is NOT true?! I play A2Gold on a regular basis with my friends and I use it all the time. Is it not able to 2-in-1 in other versions of Gold for other systems?
We have the Sega Saturn USA release of A2 Gold and it IS easily 2-1 capable. Also, CC’s are VERY balanced for everyone in the game. Everyone in the game has a 50% damage CC available to them with the exception of Rolento (why I don’t know?). Come to think of it… maybe I’ll start a new thread with everyone’s Custom Combos, level 1’s, 2’s, and 3’s with the damage meters too. Many of the characters that you think sucked against the top tier characters in the regular SFA2 can definitely hold their own in A2 Gold. We probably know this game as well as most people do because we are still very active with it. Anyone who disagrees with this is free to voice your opinion or show what you got if you’re close to the state of CT. I’d be happy to host anyone interested. Just let me know 'cause we’re always up for some healthy competition.

a2 gold is not the tourney accepted version of the game.
regardless of people thinking its “more balanced” (its not, ken is easily number 1), people play alpha 2, not a2g. if you’re trying to get people to join, hold an alpha 2 tourney instead.

There is no such thing as a “tourney accepted” A2 game considering that A2 has been dead for 5 years.
As far as balance, nobody should even pretend to know as there has never been a highly competitive A2 Gold environment. Anyone talking about who is the best is merely talking about when they play their 3 scrub friends.
regardless of how long the game has been “dead” when there were tourneys, a2 was the one being played.
i’d play a2, but wouldn’t play a2g. my presence at evo east isn’t 100% yet though. I’m still hopeful.

but the SS version of A2G is ok (even if its not the A2 that we all love) we = people who play A2
just one question: can you record the matches? or at LEAST the finals? 3rd places and grand finals, etc… or everything that you guys can record. the reason that Im asking is because I can host all that stuff in my site (fast server), all I need is to grab the files with good video quality and I can do the rest (video edit, uploads, etc…)
so: if you can please record that stuff and I will be glad to host the files.

I believe that rolento vs sakura match was a semi final match taken place in Las Vegas “Arcade of Pros” U.S. Fighting Game Championships.
The tourney was very controversial due to the fact that it had a point system to win an extra 1K for the best overall player.
The race of me and Choi owning up in our respective games…
Choi got assed out cause one of his best games got canceled (Hyper Fighter) where he could’ve easily tied up the score or won the overall player 1K.
