The World of Street Fighter Alpha 2

NKI’s links are down. I’ll try and youtube that shit. Thanks though.

I wish I questions, but I don’t. Which is good. Cause it means most of what I need to learn is the play of the game. Increase my footsy skills. Basic foundation principles which are rather weak after playing too much 3s and HF.

Just wondering whos stands the best chance vs chun li? i have a lot of trouble vsing her.
I usually use Ryu but chuns attacks seem faster and have more priority than ryus and beats nearly everything i do, also whats the diff between E.Ryu on p1 or p2 side?

as a chun player, rose gives me the hardest time. Basically everything Chun has, rose has more of.

i would say a really good ryu, but you need good footsies and dp reactions to really abuse fierce fireball in that match.

rose, not so much actually imo.

All you need with Rose is low Strong ad infinitum. GGPO everyone else.

EDIT

*no it doesn’t

but chuns c.fp seems to consistantly beat or trade (trade is in chun’s favor)

also sweep.

Her standing Short seems more reliable then low MK in most cases.

But then again, that’s why Chun Li and Rose share the top tier (with Ken thrown in there for good measure).

yea after testing, im wrong i edited the post.

c.mp is pretty godly.

Other things I’ve learned.

You can get OG chun li by holding start for 5 seconds before selecting her.

All I noticed was that her fireball went from hcf+P to charge b, f+P which was hella lame.

So I assume OG chun isnt’ worth playing. The sprite is cool though.

Also, stage selection in arcade mode is done the same way. when selecting a character you can put your cursor over another character hold start for 5 seconds then pick your character, You’ll now play in ultra cool stages of your choice (albeit all of A2s stages were hella cool IMO)

The problem I have with rose is that rose’s low forward beats my low forward. roses’ low strong beats my s. short, she eats/reflects my fireballs all day additionally all her pokes cancel to that fireball thingy move for massive damage/chip. rose also gets like retarded damage/chip for those level 1 soul illusions.

you have…crazy tick throws, crazy jump ins, crazy AA, and crazy custom. also roses no meter alpha counter combo (AC c.mp xx lk soul drill thingy) doesn’t work on chun-li.

You can also access the secret stages if you hold the Start button longer than 5 seconds on certain characters. Sagat gives you Australia (the BGM kicks ASS) and Bison gives you Venezuela (the waterfall stage).

It also seems you have to figure how to select Evil Ryu and the CE versions of Sim and Gief.

Uhh, don’t you think the AC actually requires meter?

And I think the timing is different, but Rose’s bug AC combo should work on everyone.

i think he means no additional meter because it is possible to ac into c.mp into l2 fireball super

yeah, i meant no additional meter, because AC, c.mp xx lv2 fireball super is her other one. that combo works on chun-li, but you have to omit the c.mp, and just go straight into the super.

another retarded rose combo, c.mp xx lv1 soul illusion lv 2 fireball super.

And don’t forget that Rose is the only character with a 100% CC (which requires a lot of prep-time and will not work against some characters, but it’s still worth mentioning).

yeah…just absorbing 7 fireballs is hella impractical.

Personally, I don’t see why SFA 2 Gold isn’t more popular. It basically corrects some of the stuff that makes the regular SFA 2 look like BS: 1 1/2 meter for ACs, less damage in CC, some top tier characters get nerfed (Chun Li can no longer cancel c. Forward into Kikoken)…

Some people just enjoy more A2 due diferent reasons, I even heard that some Ryu players enjoy more A2 then A2G because in A2G you must perform HCF to knock down the opponent and in A2 is just QCF (both at close distance) etc… but this is just one small example, Im sure there is many other reasons…? (I guess)

gen has a 100% cc also but its hard as hell to to.

A2G is a strange game. CCs and ACs got nerfs as did some top characters but so did a lot of weak characters as well.

Usually when a new game comes out that is a minor upgrade people notice new problems and downgraded moves a lot more than they notice fixes and upgraded moves. You see that with nearly every revision, not just in SF but in Tekken and VF as well.

I haven’t played enough of A2G to have any real opinion but it does at least trade in one set of problems for another. One major issue would be it just never had much market penetration.
