I dunno about mix ups, but I find it just generally keeps him out of the air where he has a bit harder time with his slower and somewhat oddly angled Air moves. I guess you do blocked jumping S tele down cmdthrow/c.L and that might throw people off. It’d be kinda similar to Doom but he can ADF to create a actual mixup as opposed to a reflex test.
EDIT: Actually a thought is using the air gun with a good ground assist [amy/doom/akuma] to cover most of the angles tele down and then tele again etc…I really like akumas for this since it pushes them around making the sides a bit harder to read and if it actually hits they don’t get to tech until the ground so you periodically get to launch them for free.
I don’t have any problems just straight up dashing considering Wesker can OTG from now until the zombie apocalypse, although this might be helpful if they get knocked really far away. That being said has anyone had a hard time picking up Jill after Cobra strike? I can’t seem to get the B&B on her is it just me?
It’s definitely her, try starting the combo with cr.a next time.
Also I may be on to something as far as squeezing a little extra dmg out Weskers standard bnb, right now I’m doing Cr.a,Cr.b,Cr.c, df.c,Cr.b,S.c into cobra strike. But after the cobra strike I’m having a tough time following up with the rest of the reg bnb is it hit stun deterioration or is my execution just bad lol?
Will do! Also I’m pretty sure that its HS deterioration. He just can’t self pick up more than once. Of course there’s the why bother portion of it when he does 480-oddk meterless and can assist pick up all day in the corner.
Meh Wesker is a mediocre anchor. He does his best work with assists, has largely meterless combos that don’t particularly scale up has some trouble getting past beam spam without assist cover [mags v wesker sucks] no DHC means no guess Rhino Charges etc etc XF makes everyone awesome but there are way better choices. Actually he kinda sucks as an anchor and is kinda awesome as a point char. Consider Dorm instead as anchor.
Wesker and Anchor should not be used in the same sentence. Assists are critical to his game play both for mix ups and for combos. He is a much better point than anything else.
Running Mustang Kick is already baller and easy as pie, but if you really need that distance up close, 632B14A is the most reliable way to do it. It’s a mixup in and of itself since you can stop at 632B to get the crouch Medium.
C63214A gives the biggest range increase but is honestly kinda slow.
This isn’t blaze blue. Get that number notation out of here.
I always thought it was a stupid notation not because it didn’t make sense, but because forward back down up make a much more natural notation in fighting games where you controls change based off which side you are facing.
Numbers just add another level of complexity that doesn’t need to be there IMO.
I’ve just recently been giving him some serious play (Wesker/Dorm/Doom), and there’s no way in hell he could possibly be an anchor. He honestly feels like one of the few characters that is literally required to have an assist to do anything much at all. As a point character though, he’s a fantastic battery that can also punish relatively easy.
Even the strategy guide suggests that Wesker needs an assist to make him amazing. I play the same team myself and I wonder why some tourney pros (i.e. Floe) use Wesker as an anchor.
