THE WEAK LOSE AND THE STRONG WIN @ POWNZ on 05/02/2009 (SFIV/STHD)

So in order for me to play in this tourney, I’ll have to pay 20 bucks? 5 for the SF4 tourney and 15 to be a member of the shop???

that’s correct. unless you’ve already been to pownz before, then it’s $10 + $5.

maybe ill walk over there at lunch and pay the 15 right now… i dunno… kinda cheeses me off… but hell I’d Like to see some of the players and get more involved in the community around here.

well, when you pay $15 the first time, it includes the hours for the day, so i don’t see why you want to pay this first?

cause i thought it was just a static registration fee to be able to use the machines period. kinda like a one time membership cost.

So yeah sign me up for May 2 for SF4.

Thanks for clarifying that.

What about controllers? we got sticks or just Dual shocks?
and if its just dual shocks… do we gotta use the standard button scheme? I heard from a friend that most tourneys run that way.
I play on XBL so im sure ill need to adapt to the dualshock controller feel

you’ll have to wait for Justin aka NagataLock for the rules regarding button schemes, I’m pretty sure you’re allowed to change them (before the match starts).

There will be sticks on hand, but this tourny is billed as a “Bring Your Own Controller” tourny, so if you are picky about what you use, bring your own pad/stick.

Dont own a PS2/3 controller so hopefully someone will let me leech. or ill have to find one prior to.

You are free to change your buttons to whatever you’re comfortable with.

3P and 3K are not allowed though.

seriously? how does someone on a pad do an ultra? (maybe it’s a non-issue…haven’t used pad in a long time)

Cool. I will try and rouse some interest within my circle of friends and see if any wanna go, so we can get more people out.

thanks

x+square+trigger and circle+triangle+trigger? those are the easiest combos to hit simultaneously, usually.

YEah thats how i manage it on the 360

except for you PS3ers for me its square and triangle + R1 and X and O with L1

anyone know what time this place opens up in the AM?

Fight Night at Pownz

Hey all

We are expecting a decent turn out for tonights SFIV fight night, Fareed and a group of Missaugans are coming down as are some locals. I might even run a micro tournament with a prize of some sort.

Pownz is also offering a Pre-Registration deal for May 2nds tourney. If you Pre-Register and pay IN the store on or before May 1st you will receive a discounted Venue fee of $5.

Level up your game with some practice matches every Wednesday night at the Centre.

Unless people use default you mean right?
But even so, you should allow them to bind 3p or 3k to whatever button they want. Why would you not want to, it does not hurt anyone.

I still say people should play with Default because that’s the most common configuration everywhere.

NeoRussell

Yeah, and default maps 3P and 3K.

is bringing Spectators frowned upon? cause i know my Girlfriend would be interested in hanging out and watching some matches.

She’d have to pay the venue fee like anyone else who’s never been there before.

Thought so. ill tell her. .Shouldnt be a problem Thanks Nagata

I am new to this forum and will attend. I know ksharpie from school and he told me about this. How early can we come in for some practice? Also, out of curiosity, what size screens and format are used?

I noticed you mentioned not allowing 3P or 3K. Why is that? There are 8 buttons on any control so unless you only allow 6 button to be used, binding a throw or FA is no different. Trying to reliably pull off a 3P or 3K on a standard controller is pretty tuff.

Can you clarify how many buttons will be allowed so I can be prepared. I do quite well with the standard PS3 controller, but need to get used to my new MadCatz Tourney stick.

Lastly, are any characters not allowed?
