I’m still playing SM campaign on Soulstorm…damn takes too long to beat for me.

Is it me…or Tau just too damn strong this time around?

Goddamn, the Tau are overpowered in the computer game? That shit is weird. It is NOT the case in the tabletop game.

Is ~170 models good enough for a 2250 O&G army? It’s 90 boyz, 40 night gobbos, 10 squig riders, 15 goblin wolf riders, 4 characters, assorted boar chariot & war machine crew.

Personally I find 40 goblins too big for a unit and 20 too small but then again that was 6th ed
Id maybe drop the gobbos to 30-35 and get some more wolf riders

I’m using two units of 20 as goblin fanatic carriers. I’m putting 2 in each just because fanatics are amazing. I’ve got the two units of 20 painted but I’ve used proxy units for the fanatics and they work great. Dwarves tend to freak out and start throwing every bit of gun power they have against the goblins, against Dwarves I don’t even get to use my fanatics because my goblins will run anyways. However because of the Size Matters special rule none of my orcs or other shit runs away. They successfully scare off night goblins and then get hit in the fucking face with shit tons of war machines and orcs. Cavalry and chariots of course move around to the side to flank right up until my Orcs are just outside of charge range and then I hit them all at once.

It’s devastating. It might take a couple of turns where all my damage is coming from war machines. But it seems like I’m pretty able to consistently get my entire army to charge at once. Animosity aside.

I just spent almost 90 dollars on a pre-order of Warhammer Online, just so I could play it a few days before release. I don’t know if this is the proper thread for this, but hey, I’m a fucking idiot. At least I will have a free graphic novel that I’ll never read.

This was snagged by one of my buddies who got an advanced copy of the new Fantasy Daemon book.

So on a trip to the GW-US HQ store in Glenn Burnie by our gaming group, we happened to come across the printed copy of the new Demon Army Book for WHFB (no 40k Codex was in).

I?m going to preface this with an apology to players of Chaos gods I don?t care about as much, since I don?t recall all the stuff for them as I mainly looked at the stuff that interested me. With 4 of us on the trip who play WHFB and the other guys actually play Chaos armies, we were all vying for chances to look at the book. Most of what I remember is for Khorne and a little Tzeench.

So lets start off:

All the ?Core Demons? ? Plaguebearers, Pink Horrors, Bloodletters, Demonettes, and Furies all cost the same amount of points as a Dryad.

No Khorne units have Frenzy.

All Demons get a 5+ Ward Save, straight up. There is no restrictions on that.

Demons no longer go ?Poof? when you roll above their LD, they just take the wounds per their current rules based on their LD.

Which BTW, for all the non Character Demons from what I recall, is LD7, except Furies who are LD2.

Bloodletters have the rumored statline, but it is only S5 instead of S6. They do have killing blow, 1A, M5, and Hatred with a Herald in the unit.

Demonettes are only S3, as are mounted Demonettes, profiles are the same otherwise (I think, I know it?s WS5, S3, 2A). Regular Demonettes move 6 now. With a Herald in the unit they get ASF.

Plague Bearers are WS3. I didn?t see if they had the other rules, but with a Herald in the unit I think that they have no flanks or rear.

Pink Horrors have the rule where they can count as up to a Lvl 3 Wizard depending on the # of Horrors in the unit. I think 30 gets you the Level 3 status and one of the spells. The Lore of Tzeench is mostly as rumored, which I?ll get to later. With a Herald in the unit they get a 4+ ward instead of the 5+.

Furies are WS3, S4, 1A. They are Core, with no restrictions on taking them other than they don?t count towards your min core choices.

That?s the Core Section.

Specials are:

Khorne Flesh Hounds. Cost as much as an Ogre Bull. WS5, S5, forgot the T, 2 Wounds, M8, MR3.

Nurglings, didn?t look at the profile ? sorry but I?m not big on Pappa Nurgle.

Seekers of Slannesh ? Mounted Demonettes, but with the new Demontte profile. Mount has poison but I don?t remember more than that.

Tzeench Screamers ? Reduced S, T, Wounds. Cause a S5 attack on everything they fly over, but if you get them in combat they die.

Rare:

Blood Crushers ? Cost the same as a Dragon Ogre. About the same, get a 3+ armor save I believe. Total of 3 Attacks from it, maybe 4, I?m not 100% sure on the recall here. Sorry guys.

Flamers of Tzeench ? Skirmishers. Do D6 S4 hits at 18? in the shooting phase. Forgot the rest, Sorry.

Fiends of Slaanesh ? Monster/Ogre style profile (T4, 3 wounds, 3A, S4), M10.

I forgot to look at the Nurgle guys, but they?re there. Sorry I don?t remember more.

Heralds:

Only Hero Level Choice.

May be mounted on one of their demonic beasts or a Chariot. Each Chaos Herald has it?s own entry, and they already screwed up on the wording for how they get their magic levels.

Each Herald can only take specific gifts from a list of options, which are detailed in the magic items list per normal. The Khorne Herald can take the one Gift (which is a sword of +1S and other stuff) that makes him S7.

I only remember that the Khorne Herald costs as much as a Great Cannon, and the Chariot for him costs as much as 5 Space Marines.

Tzeench Heralds are automatically Level 2 Wizards with no upgrades listed to the magic level (may still take Gifts, but it?s different from the ones for the other gods).

The Slannesh & Nurgle guys have the EXACT same wording and listing as the Tzeench Heralds but it says they?re Level 1 Wizards. But then it lists a points cost to make them ?Level 1 Wizards?. One of the Red Shirts there told me that it was a misprint, but it isn?t supposed to make them Level 2 Wizards, it?s the points costs to make them into Level 1?s. Of course from looking at it, they appear to automatically be Level 1?s, since the Tzeench one is worded the same way, and has no upgrades listed for his Magic Level. Go Go GW Dev Team!

I don?t remember much for the Chariots, except that the Tzeench one still fly?s and that the Khorne one is drawn by only one juggernaught with no upgrades to make it 2 of em.

Each God has a special Character version of the Herald in the Hero Section.

One Herald can be the BSB. They just let you re-roll your Demonic Test, nothing about increasing the ward save, there were no banners that let you do that either.

Lords:

There are multiple special character greater demons. The Tzeench one generates 4 Power Dice, but has multiple Heads and knows all the spells from the Tzeench Lore and each head can pick and choose one spell from any lore of magic (so yes, he can cast Cleansing Flare ? WTF?). He?s only T5, and WS3 though. Costs about as much as the CURRENT Blood Thirster in the CURRENT HoC book.

I didn?t look at the other special character GD?s.

The Demon Prince still sucks. Costs as much as a Steam Tank for his base cost. Only 4 Wounds, S5, T5, so no Rank Busting. Can take 100 points of Gifts but it?s listed in what he can take. I believe you can make him undivided, didn?t see Mark options, but then I didn?t look much at that.

Greater Demons got a points drop, are all LD9.

The Blood Thirster does not have Frenzy. Costs 200 points less than his current version but can take up to 100 points in gifts, one of which is a Demonic Scroll (doesn?t look like you can double up on this), and he can take the Sword of +1S, making him S7. He?s got the same profile as now but is down to 5 Wounds. Can take up to a 3+ armor save, and/or a host of other gifts, and no the rumor of taking a weapon that does D3 wounds is NOT true. You?ll see him get the S7 weapon 99% of the time I think. EDIT: I forgot, he’s got Hatred.

The Great Unclean One still has 10 Wounds. Can be up to a Level 4, with specific point?s costs per level.

Keeper of Secrets is the same way. I think he was up to M10, but I don?t recall.

The Super Chicken?err Lord of Change is an auto-level 4.

Magic:

The Rumored Tzeench Lore as posted seems spot on. Except the 6th spell, which is cast on a 13+, does 2D6 S5 hits to a unit and any unsaved wounds create a unit of Horrors within 3? of the target unit.

The spell that generates extra PD for you is cast on a 3+. I forget the rest but they looked a lot like the spells posted.

I didn?t read the nurgle spell list.

I only saw that the Slaneesh spell list had one that had you take 2D6 S5 hits and then you took a LD test, if you fail, you take another 2D6 S5 hits, etc until you either pass your LD test or just die. That was only the 4th spell in the list BTW.

And that?s just about everything that I can remember from the book. I tried to give as much detail as possible, but we went back to look at it in between games and there were a bunch of people trying to get a look at it. If you can make it to the Glenn Burnie Battle Bunker, you can see it for yourself.

Just pre-ordered 3 copies of the WAR CE. I’m sure some fool will pay a good amount for the other 2 once they are no longer in circulation. If the WoW CE is any indication. Cannot wait for this game. I also nabbed a gamesday beta key from a friend so I’ll be checking it out soon. gonna roll an IronBreaker. Stunties FTW.
