grabs vol. 1 hardcover from shelf Well what do you know. I guess I forgot about that, because in the comic it’s just Rick and Glen and not a bunch of other people watching. Also I guess in the comic it seemed more of a “let’s try this, it might work” versus in the episode it was one person standing there explaining all the rules. And I guess I didn’t much like it in the comic (note that they NEVER use the smell tactic again - why not if it works so well? Because it’s pretty bullshit when you think about it for more than two seconds) so seeing it in the episode just amplified my dislike. But I take back my snark about the amc writer’s room!
Eh I just find running and scaling a fence on a different magnitude than opening a door or smashing something. The fence scaling requires a dexterity that zombies just don’t have. This is different than Bub learning how to use a razor or firing a gun. It’s physicality.
ya, i agree about it being handled better in the comic, it was more of a lets try it, experimentation type thing. and i think in the comic the writer maybe tries to use the smell thing again with the black chick who shows up and has 2 zombies on a leash. it’s not very well explained in the comic why this worked for her, and it wasnt out right said it was because of the smell, but you could interpreted that way.
my gf got me the compendium one for my birthday and im reading through that so im not caught up on the series entirely. it is also why it is fresh in my mind.
Leash zombies stop attacking because she removed their arms and jaws and they were around her so much they just stopped trying.
On my way home today, I thought about how dumb it is to have zombies be super strong. None so far have been like that, but in some Romero films when zombies are just ripping people apart, that is dumb. Like the giant monster chop bites? That is dumb. They are supposed to be dead rigor mortis’d bodies that are stiff and decaying. The muscle structure should be deteriorating at a fast rate. I’m not a big fan of how fast the zombies move in the show either. They like power walk. More shambling, less quick powerwalking. No more fence climbing ninja zombies.
that’s not the point, the point was that by having them near her it didnt attract as many zombies so she was able to walk around more freely, hence the possibility of smell.
I didn’t say it wasn’t the point, I was explaining why the chain zombies didn’t attack her. You can also say that other zombies didn’t come after her simply because the ohter zombies were there and weren’t going after her.
Zombies are like time travel. Trying to explain it based on real life science or what you’ve seen in other movies will just make you enjoy the story less.
Yeah, her bf and his brother aren’t actually capable, but they also just don’t. And other zombies ignore her for the most part too, because she smells like em
if they were rigor mortis and decaying, u could just punch them to powder, or shit like that. They’re still the same form they were in when resurrected, so they’d be missing whatever was eaten/rotted/etc. But the zombie ‘virus’ gives them powers. Hell, wood doors would easily stop em if that wasn’t the case, and they would not be able to rip any chunks off flesh off people. They’re not dead bodies, walking around, they’re zombies. It’s a whole new world, baby.
AMC OnDemand is great. I liked the animated comic better.
this series, I’m not impressed. I still want to know what happen to ol boy in the first epi. My gf wont stop bugging about it like I’ve seen all of this before or something, lol.
I like having zombie nitpicking moments myself, especially when it’s just plain ridiculous cough House of the Dead Matrix zombies cough, but some of you are just taking it a bit far.
Nah, if you think about it. He road a horse from Atlanta from Kentucky. Unless he grows facial hair like a ninny bitch now, he should have had a little beard.
In the comics, I’m fairly certain the kid dies, and the father keeps him around or some shit…can’t 100% remember though. Some wiki entries I checked arent up to date, and just state they haven’t been seen since
I watched the first three eps at my brother’s place last week. However, since I don’t have cable at my grandma’s, my being able to watch the show depends entirely upon whether or not I can get a ride over there.
I really, REALLY hope I do because that is a damn good show.
They keep talking about the fence zombie like he ran up that bitch, did 3 gainers, and landed in a Batman-style crouch. He barely got over the fence…I admit they shoulda had him climb to the top and topple/flop over and land on his back on the other side rather than land on his feet and recovery like a drunk, but still, it was believable. Y’all need to quit cryin’.
Just caught up with episode 2 and 3.
Both episodes were awesome.
As what others said, they changed the zombies a bit in this, with them being more agile and having remnants of memory, but honestly I don’t mind too much. It actually makes scarier and draws more emotion from the human characters.
