The Walking Dead - A New Series from AMC

Asians are basically an unknown variable in horror movies since you really don’t see a whole lot of them in American horror movies. Will they take the place of the black character and be the first to die? Will they be the stereotypical “smart one” and figure out some kooky way to defeat the antagonist, only to die later or watch the main white guy get the hot chick in the end?

Does anyone know of any shows or movies that are based around the origins of zombies deriving from Haiti and Africa? Never seen a zombie movie based in Haiti.

Look for movies done by Lucio Fulci like

used to get played during White Zombie concerts. Actually not a bad movie…plus a zombie kills and eats a shark

I wish they’d go into what happened on the day the dead rose, in Walking Dead. In the comics, do they ever really mention how the dead came back to life? Is it religious, biological, or extra terrestrial in nature???

They don’t talk about the origins.

If some people don’t get bitten next episode, I am out. There are so many people, lets start thinning them out. The comic is about the people, not the zombies. You gotta get the zombies out there so they eventually just become part of the world. Not the villains.

I get the last episode, I understand it from the people who didn’t read the comic perspective, but wasting 30 minutes with Rick and Lori in the tent was too much for me. Lets get this shit moving.

Well so far the asian guy is the map for Atlanta if that counts for something.

I don’t ever think any GOOD zombie movie is ever about the zombies.

The zombie vs shark fight was more of a stalemate. The shark bit off one of the zombie’s arms and the zombie took a chunk out of the shark.
Whether or not it became a zombie shark is unknown.

Best part of zombi is the last getting her eye poked out. And then the zombies at the end invading NY while people are just happily walking on the bridge below.

Weird. I didn’t really see any black zombies in that trailer. It would be weird to have a zombie movie in Haiti and/or Africa without the majority of zombies being black.

Oh another good part in Fulci’s Zombie was the woman wearing quite possibly the skimpiest bikini ever shown on the big screen:rofl:

Just downloaded all the episodes so far, gonna check it out tonight or tomorrow.

what do you expect of a movie made by italians on a shoestring budget in the 70’s? FFS, the black dudes are wearing whiteface makeup to look ‘dead’.

And yes, that shark is now a zombie shark.

I still love how a NYC cop lets a fat scary bloody wierdo inch closer and closer to him, especially after killing his partner WITH HIS TEETH.

FYI asian kids always die in horror movies (ie - the remake of Friday the 13th), they just wait until black dudes tap out, and white dudes have scored, and they’ve run out of jokes

Actually there are black zombies in Fulci’s film, especially in the 3rd act. P;us you forgot about the assistant Lucas who turns into a zombie. Fulci’s Zombie is a fantastic film, nice to see it mentioned here. If you enjoy it I highly recommend checking out Fulci’s other Zombie films: City of the Living Dead, The Beyond, and House by the Cemetery.

Great episode #3. I’m now starting to separate the comic from the series, and just let it unfold.

It is still cool seeing the comic scenes now and then, like the zombie eating the deer.

Seconded.

I liked the most recent episode. The wife is easy to hate at this point, but I like how she's projecting all of her guilt and shame onto the friend who she was just getting doggystyled by a few hours before.

Speaking of which...the main character guy was in a coma for what, 2 weeks? If that? And she was already fucking his friend? WTF? Like, it didn't occur to me how little time probably actually passed. Dude couldn't have been in a coma for that long, I don't think...? So I would have to imagine she had already been cheating, right? Just because their relationship was already on the rocks.

Anyway, just some thoughts. No spoilers please, thanks.

Although there was a weird scene where the husband/wife are reunited and have sex in the tent....with the son about 4 feet away. "He won't wake up," the wife said. Which made me think...has she done this before? Was she fucking this dude's friend, in front of their son?

Glen is kind of a retard for leaving the car alarm on that way. I do love him, though I figure he'll be dead soon.

Re: Movies-

I don't remember if is any good, but I remember it freaking me out as a kid, because some guy gets buried alive.

It is just sex, plus the bitch is going to cling to something.
She is trading Sex for protection, it is human nature. Not really a big deal when the end of the world might be near.

Now if she didn’t clean her box after dude nutted in it, then had her Husband up in it, then that is foul as fuck.

watched the second episode last night, did not like it that much. the whole zombie smell thing is complete crap, they are mucking with the mythology too much when there is no reason to. That rubbing guts on eachother to fake out the zombies is something I would expect from Shaun of the Dead or some writer who has never been exposed to a zombie movie before…which at the end of the day I suspect is the case in the AMC writer’s room (they all probably think seeing 28 Days Later gives them cred…).

I also thought the sex scene between Shane and Rick’s wife was going too far and makes her less redeemable. In the comics it was handled on the DL for the most part and you got the feeling it was more a case of an emotionally distraught person in a desperate situation reaching out physically in order to keep going at all, like an emotional survival instinct. However in the tv show it shows them having fun and joking and being carefree in their passion and it just feels all wrong and the exact opposite of what Kirkman was trying to portray in the comic.

I also don’t like how Rick was clean shaven in the second ep…I mean wtf?

Also zombie running and jumping the fence was bullshit. Brick zombie, fine, but jumping/climbing the fence that quick? gtfo with that.

The Beyond and HBTC aren’t zombie films…

but it was handled the same way in the comic, so they took it straight from the comic. so if you have a problem with that, i would blame the comic writer not the amc writers because in this regard they seemed like they were trying to stay true to the comic?

Gorath,

They rubbed zombie stank on them in the book too, it is not like the AMC writers put that in there.

Zombies always get their mythology changed. These zombies seem to still have bits of humanity left. Going by smell was interesting (considering they have become predators). And it’s not like the plan was foolproof. Zombies still seemed to know something was up. You also have fence climbing zombies and window smashing zombies and door opening zombies. Whatever. As long as they don’t drive cars or shit like that, I’m down.

Yeah, she didnt seem too remorseful, or considerate of the situation. However, I’ll wait to see how it plays out, versus the comics.

Him and the black guy and his kid all have a shower and shave in the first episode, in the sherrif’s station.

meh, fresh zombies still have muscles. Climbing shit is acceptable to me, unless they’re like 100 years old and missing limbs. Fresh zombies I can believe doing simple shit like that.
