Yeah, it’s character-specific, and it’s easier on certain characters as well. I think it’s the easiest to do on Boxer, Dhalsim, and like Chun Li.
Bump deserves a sticky.
Does anyone know if theres a difference between hk mk and lk air tatsus timing wise. I use hk all the time because it does more dmg (or does in vanilla, dont know about super). But does Akuma become more/less floaty depending on the tatsu he uses?
I don’t have specific examples to present, but I’m pretty sure there’s a difference from vanilla. You’ve gotta use all 3 kicks now, depending on your timing and spacing. I would love for someone to figure out which kick to use for which set ups. I’ve got general ideas, but I keep screwing up cross up tatsu’s too often.
HK makes you go farther forward. So its better for coward copters and long distance x-up. LK is better if you want to jump back and tatsu for whatever reason lol. You can also Kara the HK into the EX tatsu to make Akuma go forward a little bit, donno if theres any application for that
you can also do a reverse tiger kneed hk air tatsu for a funny effect, lol. Shit’s way better than a taunt if you wanna get your opponent mad.
Maybe I’m doing the reverse tiger knee tatsu wrong but I’m not seeing what’s so funny about that?
I’m up for learning vortex mixups and I know the setups for it(throws, tatsu>sweep, etc). But aside from forward throw>forward dashx2>DF, how you know which DF to use for every set up? You know timing it correctly so that df>throw is a reliable option? I’m always messing up the timing for DF>throw.
hk.flip palm should overshoot and mk.flip kick or even LATE kick will hit on head or crossup. Go for mk more often for kicks, throws, palm to land and ground throw/block string.
does he spin vertically up and basically disappears from the screen except his feet? If so, you’re doing it right.
Of course it’s nothing that will make anyone shit his pants from laughing, but that’s a cool effect, way better than a taunt.
when doing demon flips after sweeps or random knockdowns there is no real trick…you just gotta practice and it’ll come by itself. You have to see the distance and use the right demon flip
Ultima we need To make a matchup thread with new characters especially who can be tatsu>Sweep and who cant. Guarenteed Demons U1 and U2. Match-UP Advice and finally Normals that Beat or Trade with Specials.
or Special that beat or trade with specials. it will give players good advice on Matchup and gives them the edge over the opponent.
There’s already a new matchup thread for SSF4 (it’s stickied), it even mentions who can be swept after lk. tatsu.
True, but I’m talking about pretty precise set ups. I guess actually there aren’t any specific set ups, minus Exploding heart technique. Which by the way I’ve been using mk for, anyone else?
I miss HK being the universal go to version.
I use HK version 100% of the times and almost never miss, even without “precise setups”. You just gotta practice distances AND timings, it’s not hard and you’re wasting damage by using mk and lk versions.

Weird, EHT into HK x-up tatsu isn’t bulletproof for me. Gets Auto corrected a lot. MK tatsu is much more solid. Must be a timing thing.
Hey fellas two quick questions:
-
using the option select sweep of: db, lp, lk, hk all at the same time sweeps my opponent when they try to backdash after I do an demon flip palm whiff on their wake up right?
-
against Rog, after I do a forward throw and do the double dash into demon flip palm or kick I lose to Rog’s headbutt and ex dash punch. I’m suppose to lose to these things right (if they guessed correctly and thought I was going to do the demon flip palm or dive kick)? The double dash after the forward throw against Rog is only good for cross up tatsu and j.hk right?
The inputs I use for OS Sweep are c.lk, c.lp+c.hk, then another c.lp to hit confirm.
What’s a good way to connect the cross-up HK Tatsu? I got the timing but maybe there’s something I’m missing. It is much easier for me to connect the LK Tatsu, but then I find that it is harder to hit the sweep for the untechable.
2)flip palm breaks armour so it will beat all of his ex rush punches clean…it’ll get stuffed by headbutt tho. Use f.throw, dash once and hk flip palm, that should safe jump rog’s headbutt. Just gotta practice the timing.
