did you try a tatsu after that. it might be able to hit him especially mk or hk version. sagat’s backdash isn’t that great.
Definitely sounds like you need to take a long walk or something.
Are larger hitbox characters easier to sweep after lk tatsu?
I’m having trouble hitting the sweep after tatsu. It seems like the timing to hit it is different for each character and that you can’t sweep them from certain distances, most notably on E. Honda where I can never sweep him from point blank range. It also seems like you can’t sweep after tatsu when holding d/b, only d and d/f. So my questions are, 1) should I be plinking or double/ triple tapping c.rh; 2) can you sweep while holding d/b or only d or d/f; and 3) is the timing for the sweep different for every sweepable character?
no.
Dhalsim for example is the easiest char to sweep after a lk tatsu and he doesn’t have a large hitbox…maybe it depends on the “floatiness” or whatever, don’t know, hehe
^^Don’t some characters fall quicker than others^^ May be the same forhard knockdowns.
I know it’s weird, but I’m most comfortable calling it a “sport.”
Even if you dedicated youj’re whole life to SF, it’s still just agame… But then again,so is Soccer or Rugby etc. Not to mention, Sports generally requires a level of exertion. I might generate some emotion playing SF but i certainly don’t sweat (in the conventional way) & i wouldn’t even define it on the level of chess, for one chess has no balance issues (But then, games with single factions generally don’t)
From my experience with Sweep after Tatsu, it’s deffinately easier on some characters, i find it easy on Balrog/Dahlsim but very hard on Sagat & Seth. Cross up Tatsu i find generally easy on generally anyone except blanka for some reason, but that doesn’t really matter i generally don’t cross up Tatsu him.
Peopleare aware of the HP Rest on LK Tatsuto demon flip right? would going from MK Demon Flip there to on landing Super be a guaranteed hit (providing they don’t Jump/SRK etc?)
>>MY god i must have double postedlike 5 times now<<.
Yea the falling speed is what makes it possible or not. The characters who fall too fast are impossible to sweep after a LK.Tatsu
How does that explain Ryu & Ken then? I understand blanka, if his hitboxes were any more screwy he’dbe unhittable
I always sweep with d/b held, any crouching moves I do are in d/b position unless it were a move that required d/f like Vega’s roundhouse.
I think sf4 requires mental exertion and dexterity… and I sweat profusely when playing sf4… ahem.
However, I do agree about the balance thing.
hi im new to akuma, and have yet to go over everything.
Now i’ve seen akuma’s vortex and am impressed.
I have several questions regarding his vortex.
-
What is our aim? what do we try to look for? I know theres a list in the front, but i mean. in game strategy? Look for knockdowns?
-
Are there weaknesses in his vortex? If they were to guess the crossup correctly, is there a recommended action plan? continue atking? retreat?
-
Is the cross up tatsu/jump kcik ambiguous? Can someone detect and block it with fast reactions? How do opponent escape vortex?
4)How do fireballs contribute to vortex?
- Sweep…under what conditions are sweeps safe? (when blocked)
Thanks I really appreciated everyone.
I really enjoy watching lordofultima’s videos

The aim of the vortex is to get untechable knockdown, and mix them up on wakeup, force them to make guesses that aren’t in their favor. One knockdown leads to another, and you repeat the cycle. -

There’s weaknesses in a lot of the wake-up options, but that’s the point of mixing them up. I don’t think it requires that much thought and a action plan upon failing will vary, just feel out what your opponent does. -

They can be ambiguous, but crossup tatsu in particular is meant to crossup, so they can detect and block, as with anything else there is no fail safe. Opponents guess right and they can block, counterattack, backdash, whatever it is that you’re mixing up with there will be an option most likely for them to escape.
4)How do fireballs contribute to vortex?
Vortex is just wake-up mixup game, it’s pretty off the cuff for me and I don’t really think too much about it. If you can mix them up on wakeup, that’s vortex.
- Sweep…under what conditions are sweeps safe? (when blocked)
**Impossible to say really, if they block sweep it’s almost always punishable, check frame data based on which character you’re fighting against, that’s the only way to get a real answer. **
Is there a consistant way of getting out a instant air fireball? Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t with me, but it doesn’t feel like im doing anything different. Is their a trick to it?
We got exectution. That is execution.
So you’re saying " do it better!"?
Look at your inputs in training and you will see where your input fails, just tighten up the graphics on level three basically.
could someone point me toward how i would option select demon in an akuma mirror match
Ok guys, first of all i’d like to thank everyone who has helped me. I’ve recently participated on a tourney here, the Versus Rio Tournament held in Rio de Janeiro. We had 90 players from 6 or 7 states from brazil, including players who came from very far places in brazil (like 6 hours by plane inside the same country, yeah, brazil is big).
I got 5th on the tourney losing to eh champion by 3x2 in the winners bracket and to the 2nd place losing by 3x2 in the losers bracker. Thanks everyone.
Now, my question:
1: Is the c.lk/option select throw is one of the vortex’s answers to a character who is mashing throw on his wake-up ? Cause if it is i fail at it COMPLETELY. I’ve been playing for 3 hours against a Sagat and EVERY SINGLE TIME I tried that and he mashed throw i got thrown. It completely frustred me and i’ve got no idea what i’m doing wrong. The only thing i can say is that i see my c.lk coming out and only then i get grabbed.
What is the problem ? Am i falling too early ? Too late ? Pressing buttons too early ? Too late ? Or is that option not the correct one against wake up throws ?
Whenerver i get the tournament videos i’ll post here so that you guys can see my matches.
See ya
buttons too early, hit him with a DP a few times and he should stop mashing grab
