Like always, thursday in socal we have another gathering in riverside and saturday we have a late night gathering in azusa. Check out VFDC match making forum for more info, or keep playing quest mode with random characters.
Wow, that article made no sense.
If the 360 version isn’t version C and doesn’t have any new content over PS3 version, I will be very pissed for waiting this long.
Then again, it’s not like I have a choice as I don’t really got a spare 700$ layin around.
Can’t wait to see the input mapping for the 360 D-pad…talk abouit dropped inputs.
They are re-releasing the DOA4 stick, though a Virtua Stick high grade would be preferable.
Didn’t know serious players actually used pad in this game
couldn’t SEGA release a patch via XBL if and when ver.C gets the green light?
Just from playing UMK3 on the 360’s d-pad, and being entirely frustrated, I would like to see just how bad it is, and the display option to see inputs in VF5 seems like a good canditate to see those inputs.
I’ve got a HFS3, and can’t even be considered serious, unless it’s got the Sanwa parts
just got my vshg and my execution is soo much better
cant wait for evo :tup:
still workin my game with Goh.
Shoulda got a VSHG.
And a V8.
After shipping, that would have been a little too much for me. Plus, I think they were out of stock at the time at Play-Asia, and all other online retailers were way too much. I do like the HFS3, though.
i liked it for a while but its too damm small
not good on my lap
its ok for table top though
Socal VF players
Looks like there will now be regular thursday night tournaments in Riverside

Do you guys know if the 360 version will have a better AI?
There is still limited information on the 360 version, but you can bet when it arrives this thread will probably be on it.
Also if you live in socal you should try to go to one of the thursday (or saturday) meets. Even if you live in San Diego, SweeptheLeg is hosting gathering/tournaments there as well for the locals. I hope to see some people there, EVO West is in 1 and half months with EVO finals rigth on it’s tail.
^^
gotta get that practice goin,
evo is creeping closer and closer
gotta up my game

More to come.
Is Akira really THAT hard to control? I will buy the game for my 360 but I am very concerned about this because I always play with the main character (well except Alex, but he doesnt count. Ryu ftw).
^Akira in high level play has the hardest input in the game imo.
Advanced input move list: {no smiley for guard :mad: }
modified byakko (double palm) :db::db::l::r::p:
modified single palm-dashing elbow :df::df::r::p::r::p: (single palm on guard/hit)
Stun Palm Of Doom P+K+G,:l::df:P+G, :l: or :r: :p:
True Dragon Lance Combo :df:K+G, :r::p:, :l::r::r::p:+:k:
Super Dashing Elbow (in fastest input) :r::r::r::p:
Knee K+G!G (release :k: in one frame)
By themselves there are not too hard (except the knee) to pull off but to do them consistently and in combos is the key.
I would say a stick is vital to play Akira but I’ve seen some good Akira players perform well with a pad.
side note - On the VF4:Evo disc there are videos you can unlock where some guy performs some of Akira’s toughest combos one handed. :wow:
I still need to read Kage’s but this is good news.
That was one of the craziest things I’ve ever seen. Who is that guy? Does he only have one hand? Does it cramp? So many questions…
Nope. Actually I’m gona rant a bit while I have the mic
Don’t let people blab to you how difficult VF is, it will just create an extra hurdle for you to have to get over when you begin. VF is more difficult than many fighters, granted. But it’s not some incredibly difficult, must devote your life to it thing like some vetran players chalk it up to be. In-fact, I think people have hyped up the difficulty of the series for some odd reason or another.
I may be completely wrong on what I’m about to say but I feel /some/ vetran players have hyped up the difficulty to build their pride in playing the game. I really do. I’m really not trying to take away from VF or its players in saying this either, cause in the short time I’ve played the game, I love it. It’s just that it isn’t -that- hard. There are very complex things in this game, character specifics, movement, juggle system, throw breaks, that yes, they will take you ages to fully understand if you ever really do . But but I think people would be amazed how natural the game can feel if you spend a little time with it without bias and just go at it.
Ahem anyway lol, sorry rant over.
Speaking directly about Akira. He’s actually more beginner friendly in this game than probably any other installment there’s been. His execution is strict on many things, mainly his juggles, but that’s nothing you can’t learn. His pokes and speed will be the toughest thing I feel for new players starting out. But if you enjoy him, play him regardless. Just be patient and have fun with him, and you’ll end up doing well.
