i thought there wasn’t gonna be a japanese 360 version? what’s up with the ranks being in japanese?
The VF5 360 press release came from Sega America, or Sega Europe, can’t remember. Just because it didn’t mention a Japanese release doesn’t mean anyone should jump the gun and rule it out, though most people have.
Wouldn’t matter much anyway though since 360 is MIA in Japan.
Different factors, ParryAll. About the last pic comparison that is.
- Different time of day is portrayed in the game.
- Sun positioning changes the lighting in the game. Sometimes it’ll be really dark, sometimes really bright. I personally like this.
- So yeah, it is sort of a bloom lighting effect that happens depending on the above two factors. In a way, the game’s atmosphere changes moods, but slowly. You notice it match to match more than anything.
In a way, it’s sort of like what Shadow of the Colossus tried to accomplish by haviing the camera be more “camera-like” in that various lighting conditions can change what you do end up seeing. Instead of seeing things like a human eye and making rapid adjustments with aperture, it has a more “cinematic” effect with lighting changes getting exhagerated.
Also, in the PS3 version (and I assume the 360 version also), you can choose between a sharper or a softer look. Personally, I prefer a sharp look. But some people far prefer a soft look, especially on super vibrant displays.

Version C of VF5 will be released the 7th of May.
Gameplay tweaks? I honestly got no idea - not even a guess.

Toyed with Sara finally, I didn’t find any issues that weren’t too extreme. Very playable, but there’s better on the VF5 roster - that I’m certain.
And everyone else who isn’t shelling out 6-700 bucks.

Version C for the arcade was just released in Japan, here are the changes.
Highlights for the lazy:
-Kage’s stance semi nerfed
-Shun’s sabaki-of-doom nerfed
-Pai takes a MASSIVE nerfing
-Aoi apparently better
-Lau apparently better
That kinda makes me happier that there was changes made

Is it me or didn’t pai get a nerf in one of VF4s revisions? And now this?

Well she was top 3 (arguably #1) in Evo, got slightly toned down in FT but was still super strong. In VF5 vB she is even stronger than Evo, because she has such big damage from 2_6p CH which went from throw counterable in 4 to unpunishable in 5. Her P,K was given a +4 on hit like the other characters with good P.K’s (her’s was disadvantage on hit in 4, she was not one of the characters that needed it, having the best -13 punisher in the game along with a 11 frame P). With her fast P it made it pretty much guaranteed on sidekick stagger. Along with already being a strong character with every tool.
And she still has everything that makes her strong, so uh idk why this is a surprise to anyone.

ah crap not this version garbage again. PS3 users are stuck w/ (B wasn’t it?) and 360 is gonna get C with no way for PS3 users to be able to update other than buying another rerelease (that’s if they do rerelease) for 60 bucks. Not another GGXX scenario 
Also the 360 version is getting live features while the PS3 version doesn’t have a hint of online anywhere. Although it might be possible that they can release an addon on PSN like they did for Sonic but I don’t know if Sonic had a built in online infastructure already.
Anyways for 34.99 I don’t think I could go wrong w/ VF5 anyways, it’s a great game although I’m having difficulty adjusting from the arcade version to the home version, having to relearn nearly everything again.
Does anybody know what sites/forums that have extensive info on VF5? I tried virtuafighter.com, but it’s practically dead there.
