^How is VFDC dead? Just because we don’t have 9 million topics in our general discussion?
There are a ton of posts in both the strategy and in character specific, people are still translating Black Book strats and frame data and command list for every character is available, as well as general combos if you look.
Also you should look for competition in your local area via the match making forum.
well compare it to either this board or tekken zaibatsu and yeah its pretty much barren. i got some alright info but considering how long the game has been out there should be a lot more players. i suppose the lack of arcade and the 600 dollar ps3 is to blame?
i play eileen btw and if you look, the biggest thread is 3 pages long
Your right, VFDC has hardly any info on Eileen. She is new and not too many people are keen to learning her. I’m hoping they put up translations of her coverage from the Black Book soon.
On the other end, the other new character El Blaze has lots of info.
It’s available for import, you can get it at Amazon JPN.
It has a TON of info both practical strategy, indepth combos, tactics, input from the best players in japan, frame data, and of course and freakin awesome DVD.
those were the two closest matches i found when i put in virtua fighter 5 (in japanese) It seems from the review on the 2nd one (white book) they loved the dvd which I think they said that there was a tournament on it. The first book’s reviewers loved the books and basically said that there was everything in there including detailed explainations (w/ pictures) about the two new characters as well as strategies and stuff like that.
Although before even considering purchasing it I will see if I can find out if they are for Vers A or B and if there are any JP sites out there that already has this info on them. Many times I run a Yahoo or a Google search on a JP game I find a site that has extensive strategies and lists unlike American sites/faq’s.
The most important information in the book that is not found in any English book is the frame data. Luckily, VFDC’s Myke has been kind enough to keep us up to date with frame data from each version of VF5. While it does not have ver. C yet, give it time, it will be there.
awesome. While browsing through Japanese sites, I found these. The first one has data for C (it says C, A and a link for both) so I suppose C is also for B, or A is also for B, whatever. It’s not complete yet, but the command list is all there, from what I saw, the frame data is too. There is also some strategies and combos for certain characters, while other characters has nothing. I’m checking the next site now.
command list is the first set of character names. the juggles/combos are the 2nd set of character names and the last set of character names are strategies but unfortunately like every other site it’s devoid of info. At least they got juggles.
How do you like Vanessa? Her fighting style kind of reminds me of the Rolento type guy in DOA…which is weird, because VF borrowing from DOA is the polar opposite of what I am used to.
I am now beating all sorts of over 10th dan rankings…but haven’t found the one I need to move up from Master.
^ You need to defeat 5 10th dan opponents in a row to get a higher rank once you reach Master. If you lose once to a 10th dan before graduating you get demoted back to 10th dan.
Everyone thinks this is pretty retarded to have this procedure early in the ranking system. It is pretty tough to get over a Master rank in Japanese arcades.
They had something similar in VF4, but it was to achieve the top and final rank (Champion) and once you reached it you could never lose it.
Try looking here or check out the Midwest forums here on SRK.
10th dan only. :razzy:
Also when you do promote past Master, the rank system splits into three groups depending on your overall win percentage. I don’t know the ranks by name in English but here are the ranks in Japanese. Kaiden = Master rank
Winning percentage less than 70%:
Kaiden - Kousha - Meijin - Meishou - Kenou - Kensei - Kenshin
Winning percentage between 70 and 80%
Kaiden - Tsuwamono - Tatsujin - Toushou - Touou - Tousei - Toushin
Winning percentage higher than 80%
Kaiden - Mosa - Tetsujin - Bushou - Buou - Busei - Bushin
Sorry to inform you,but from all the looking around I did myself, there really isn’t a strong or dedicated VF5 scene in Chicago right now. It’s mostly because the arcades that are still around in the city don’t have any cabinets or just can’t afford them, along with the fact that it’s only out for PS3 and not many people even bothered purchasing the system.
The only arcade that I know that even has a VF5 machine is over at Gameworks in Schaumburg,IL which is not only out of the way for a lot of city players but puts a good hole on the wallet if you don’t have a member pass.
As for meeting up at someones place,I haven’t seen any posts on the virtuafighter.com forums mentioning anything since Jan/Feb 07.Hopefully the 360 release will help the community grow since it sucks not having any consistent competetion to help improve your game.
