I’m sure they just let AM3 use their technology, since both arcade divisions are owned by Sega.
It’s a misconception that any character is “cheap” in Virtua Fighter 5. There’s always a solution, it just happens to require one to study the game.
Truth.
Although I wish that same knowledge was applied to every fighting game, perhaps there is - just difficult to discover potential flaws.
I’m currently lacking 2% items for Wolf, but everytime they hold a freaking tournament the price is only emblems… Retarded further I guess you have to participate and win, so the chance of getting that item-price from a tournament is doubled.
To lazy to check, but where does Vanessa rank among the tiers again?
Vf5 is tired shit
its the same game as vf4
tired shit
You’re tired shit for posting tired shit. Funny how life works, huh? Fucking troll…
…welcome to green motherfucker. Time to change that sig of yours.
Think I said it before, but I prefer to think in matchups. But Tier talk is always sort of fun.
Here’s the latest Tougeki tier list for VF5:
S: Eileen, Lei Fei, Kage, Pai, Shun
A: Brad, Goh, Jacky, Lau, Vanessa, Wolf
B: Akira, El Blaze, Jeffry, Lion
C: Aoi, Sarah
And I gotta admit… as much as I love Aoi, she is a lot of hard work in VF5. It’s fulfilling though
eeew my two fav females are bottom
atleast jacky and my past player vanessa are A
i was hoping eileen would be bottom tier, means making her good has already been done, i guess on the bright side sarah will be more fun to use against good players
Me and Kaminari Oyaji over on VFDC are putting up a ton of Sarah resources for new and returning Sarah players.
Check it out: http://virtuafighter.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/160078/Main/10962/#Post160078
So Vanessa is top tier? I saw Elieen and wanted to select her because her moves seem unusually fast - but I think I’ll try out Vanessa first.
the best character in vf5 is takarashi
everyone else is gay
Goh is ranked higher than Akira and Lion?:wtf:
finally picked this up. i’m really liking it. i picked el blaze just 'cause he looks fun. this game makes tekken look like a kids game haha. oh, awesome guide…great job on that.
my friend just got it today and i must say it is badass. My boy brad is a beast in this version. does anyone have advice on how to get a brad that isnt totally offensive. Seem to be having some trouble in mastering his slipping moves.
Oh and did his ducking and slipping movements have the puches tacked on in VF4 cause i dont remember them?
I just discovered Goh this weekend, and I must say he’s great! Glad to see he is upper tier, although I’ve a ways to go b4 tiers mean much to me. :looney:
Akira and Jeffrey are my other favs. Not too keen on their tier placements, though.
Speaking of which, I see the tier seperation, but what kind of handicap are we talking about here? Like 30 health between each tier?
Unless you’re trying to learn Aoi or Sarah, you can pretty much ignore tiers when choosing a character. Seriously.
The top tier characters have slightly more abusable stuff that you should learn about (Shun’s sabaki out of his backturned stance, etc), but it’s not like so-called ‘b’ tier characters are at a serious disadvantage.
I agree with CK in that… You shouldn’t really have much of a huge struggle with any of the characters unless you’re playing Aoi and Sarah.
Akira and Jeffry still do very well for themselves. Especially Akira, but it’s very critical that you mix up your mid attacks and throws. Attack too much and you’ll be dodged and handled easily.
Actually, I think Sarah is decently accessible, but her issues show up with higher level players, but she’s still alright imo.
With Aoi though, it’s an upwards battle from day one (definitely was not the case in VF4:Evo). At an early level you’ll probably struggle with a lack of range on her attacks. You’ll have to be very careful. And you just can’t pile the pressure on with her elbows like you could before (outside of PPf+PP).
If you do want to learn Aoi though… Learning to play range is counterintuitive traditionally, but I feel it works in VF5 for her. Setting up her b+K can yield some decent rewards. If you know a low attack is coming (like you are almost certain it’s coming), f,f+K is your friend which can lead to a very easy combo followup of d+KPP. ff+P+K is also a decent ranged attack. And Aoi has always had a good supply of throws that she can mixup.
Aoi is still a character that can apply lots of pressure moving forward, but it’s so situation specific it’s hard to learn now.
My notes on Aoi makes it sound like it’s easy to use her, but it’s very very hard in VF5. There’s a lot of “if this hits, go for this–but if it doesn’t hit, definitely don’t do the followup or you will get killed.” If anything, she’ll really train your focus if you’re very serious about using Aoi.
Don’t forget though, there ARE a lot of really high level Sarah and Aoi players out there doing very well for themselves, even in the highest level play of Japan.
I’ve yet to try Sarah Byrant, but I’ve played with Jacky on numerous occasions. Mostly kick combo’s and basics - I fair well against the cpu but not quite against an actual person. I’ll toy around with him later on today to see if I can learn some advance techniques since he’s always been a favorite of mine.
As for Akira, same thing. Just more execution than comboing’ though, Akira involves a more expert approach to the matter.
I only play Wolf.
Though I had to try out the Jacky vs Jacky juggle.
Sadistic Knee -> b+K+G -> P -> b+K+G -> P -> b+K+G
Thank god it doesn’t work on all weightclasses.
