^^surely that can’t be right? that’s insane if they’ve taken them out. i really, really hope they include them in the 360 version
you know why right ? it’s because the game hasnt been out long enough to have a training mode that is worthwhile. it’s lookin like the game is gonna be good tho.
That is just weak. The fact that the game itself taught you tournament applicable combos, spacing, mind games, reaction, defense, was awesome and one of the best qualities of the home port. With it removed this just becomes another fighter home port with a worthless arcade mode, a gimmick ridden single player mode you cannot even transfer over when playing against others, and versus. Well done AM2.
Holy shit. That was 1of the best thing about VF.Why did they take it out?
Why do I have this feeling that the 360 version is going to intentionally be better than the PS3 version? Even though I’m not the biggest Sony nut, why can’t they just make both versions equally viable?
Let’s see here…
VF5 PS3 lacks…
- Trial mode
- Ability to make AIs
- Ability to transfer Customized characters/AIs on other systems for play
- Online functions/play
When it comes to patches, is Sony in charge of them or is AM2? Either way, somebody needs to add at least 3 of these things in the near future for BOTH versions (None of this “let’s make the PS3 version useless by Fall” crap).
P.S. I will be getting this game alongside a 360 when it comes out.
Well, VF5 is still good enough without the training mode to warrant a purchase IMO, esp if you already have a PS3.
However, that sucks pretty bad cause the vf training modes were the greatest for any fighting game ive ever seen.
I dunno it is hard to wait, but then I think of what else I can do with 700$ and the wait isn’t nearly as bad.
I’m just praying the port is as good or better than the PS3 one. AM2 is at the helm but is 7 months development time enough to get it right? Time will tell.
If it’s an inferior port, even slightly, I’m dropping the cash on a PS3 and the game.
Both versions do not and will NOT have online play.Period.Why do u guys keep asking for online play?It won’t happen(not with VF5 anyways).
From EMG issue 202, April 2006, page 51
EMG did a interveiw with Hiroshi Kataoka(VF5 producer).
EGM:There’s a lot of controversy among Western VF fans about the lack of online play capabilities in the games. What is it specifically about VF that you think doesn’t work well in online context?
HK:The biggest problem is the time LAG when executing techniques.VF runs at a very fast 60 frames per second, and every frame is important. We could make adjustments to ELIMINATE LAG, but if we did that, there would be no difference in the timing of various moves and the competitive aspect of the game would be runied. We ran some test in-house with simulated lag, but it wound up feeling like a COMPLETELY different game! We’ve come to the conclusion that if we EVER wanted to do an ONLINE Fighting game, it would need to becalled something besides Virtua fighter.I’m sure the players would feel thesame way.
Now, stop asking for something that won’t happen. It’s like asking capcom for marvel vs capcom 3.It won’t happen!
As for the 360 version?I’m 90% sure the 360 version will have number one and three.I can care less for two.AM2 has the time to add those extra features. Now that I think about it, I may just go with 360 version. Most likely AM2(who ever) is going to add extra items and those extra features.all in all ass fucking the PS3 version.
now maybe im stupid here, but am i the only one who sees this dojo mode (training mode). (at 2:07 u clearly see a command training mode, is it as good as vf4 evo…no idea…but it is a training mode)
Don’t know if its as good as vf4 evo. The concern wasn’t the training mode but the tutorials like they had for vf4 evo.
^Yeah, that would suck if the PS3 version didn’t have the tutorials like vf4 evo.Let’s hope for the best.
As far as i know all tuitorials have been removed all whats left is command and free training what is the contents in these modes is unkown obviously command is probably just the run of the mill do moves to a time limit, makes me laugh really do you need a command mode? surely all that info is available in free training, who knows what will be in and what wont be in the game i’m just going on what i’ve read. To be really honest i’m not at bothered really give you more of a chances to find things out for yourself , also i heard that move frame data would be included any news of that? i mean i can allways go to vfdc just be handy to have it in game, one other thing what makes eileen SO CALLED A rank? i dont see it myself of course i aint played it or use it but my inital impressions of her was " yeah interesting character but limited" i have not seen anything to suggest otherwise, oh oh one other thing does everybody have bounce combos? I seen akira kage jeff jacky ( the one i saw with jacky looked like it’s usless) pai goh, aint seen any with lion lau aoi shun
Okay, so online play is officially out. That really isn’t my biggest complaint. What I’m just not getting is why AM2 is taking out features in every new game. VF4 had #2 and #3, yet VF4Evo removed that. VF4Evo had the awesome trial mode (note how I say TRIAL mode and not TUTORIAL.). VF5, on the other hand, takes out all of those things and doesn’t add a whole lot to compensate. At least the gameplay still looks solid, the customization potential has been increased dramatically (especially with the whole 4 costumes per character thing), and the new characters look sweet. Also, these ports will be pretty much arcade-perfect this time (no more jaggies).
Can’t say for sure why AM2 did what they did with VF4 and VF4evo.Maybe they had to take certain features out to add new ones in.As we know, this isn’t the case with the PS3 version(blu-ray), so maybe they don’t have enough time to add what they wanted.Maybe we can download a update/patch some time in the future.Only time will tell.
Downloadable tutorials would be pretty hot, if that’s the case. Still kind of disappointed that they aren’t being included this time around, but I’m still hyped regardless.
I’m not sure if a link was posted up to the official site for VF5 , but here it is anyways.
vfdc is doing a contest for 5 free copies of virtua fighter 5

Well we got it solved DarkZero is more than welcome to come to my pad to play VF5 when I get it for my PS3 and we have some people that are surely gonna get into it myself included.
i’ve been waiting for this game for so long…heard rumors that it’s coming to xbox360(if someone said this already my bad).Is it true?
