Have to agree. VF3 shat on all competition for years after it’s release…VF5 looks good, but not by such an insane margin.
Still waiting, Sex…

EDIT By the way, the game’s sound if definitely not finished. Listen to Vanessa’s voice, some of the samples are new, sme are the old VF4 ones. Mixed and matched it sounds really weird. After listening to other characters’ voices, it seems there is a mix of old and new since all the samples are not done. Same with the hit SFX.
OMG I’m quitting Smash.
No, seriously though, I just finished watching the Vanessa v Shun matches and that shit looks sick. They really sped up the gameplay and the game looks SO MUCH more fluid than VF4. It’s kinda like SC, but even more so and less glitchy looking.
I want this game now.
Hate the fact that Vanessa’s new voice makes her sound like a stupid lil’ white bitch though.

(no offense to you all you stupid white bitches out there)
Wolf has the fucking ANGLE SLAM…jesus…! oooohhhh rawr!!!
Who cares whether or not it’s not as visually impressive as you may have anticipated for VF2 & 3 were released over a decade ago. The game still looks killer. Does it not look & play better? I think you’re jumping to conclusions too quickly as the game hasn’t hit home consoles (much less, you even playing it). People need to stop living in the past & learn to move foward with times.
Really. Trying to argue that VF5 isn’t as breathing as VF2 or 3 were in their prime is like saying that RE4 isn’t as impressive as RE2. Besides, you shouldn’t be basing VF5 on soley it’s look, but rather it’s play.
He wasn’t really arguing about it’s overall quality, he was noting that the overall advancement (graphically speaking) isn’t as overly obvious as the other titles were back in the days of VF2 and 3. Those games in their time were leaps and bounds ahead of everything else (the VF series has always had a knack for for it’s impressive visuals). VF5 is still a damn good looking game at this stage, but these days the leaps taken are getting much smaller and more subtle than they used to be. Not a bad thing at all, but at any rate, it was just an observation on the subject of it’s visuals alone; he even said he wasn’t dissapointed with it.
Everyone in here is already pretty aware that the play should be nothing short of nice as fuck, so there’s no point in discussing that too deeply until someone’s played it. =P
Hey guys, this is the El Blaze in those clips… I’ve written some lengthy posts over on VFDC but decided write a little here too…
Glad you are enjoying the movies… The game looks even better on the high res Lindbergh… The dedicated cabinent looks -slick-… It grabs the attention of everyone who walks by in the arcade…
For me, the game feels a bit faster than VF4… There are new wall staggers (which look a bit like Tekken’s) that can lead to really damaging combos… This, combined with the stages with half walls, makes positioning your opponent against the wall even more important for a killer combo or a quick ring out…
The known system changes include a new dodge system which includes “defensive” and “offensive” dodges… You can get a new side crumple from a successful offensive dodge which can lead to major damage combos…
El Blaze has movement options not available before in the series… For example, if an opponent blocks one of your kicks you can hit P+K+G to kick flip off of them to safety… He can also run over downed opponents and through opponents attacks… On stages with walls he can run into a wall and bounce off of it much like a professional wrestler “runs the ropes…” A lot of people will find him fun to play as…
What’s “rockin’ hard”? 'Cuz nobody really fucks with those games outside of tournaments
What’s up SuperG. HOT DOG~

El Blaze is now my favorite fighting game chararcter ever. Even more so than Aoi, SNK characters and GG characters. My little bro’ says he sounds like Buzz Lightyear but I still love it.
Cygnus: thanks for the vids!
So what exactly is VF.Net, and VF TV, and all that junk?
(I appologize if this was touched on already. I only had the nerve to sift through 4 pages. SRK is slow.)
VF.net is just the place where all the info for players’ are stored. Through your account you can change your costume, items, preferences, etc. The coolest new feature is saving matches through vf.net. You can save 1 match a day per arcade, is you choose to save a 2nd match in the same day, it will overwrite your 1st. Then through your vf.net account, you can render the replay into a direct-feed video, which is what all of these matches so far are. Word is it takes 3-4 hours to render, but when the traffic get busier, it can take up to 3 or 4 days.
VFTV is a match replay/channel display that sits at the end of the cabinet setups. They will play previous matches with commentary and stuff. I think they show other stuff there too.

Thanks for the info.
Just watched Jacky Vs. Akira. Man, this game is just blowing me away right now. I can’t believe how sick it is looking. Those voices though, lol, where are they finding these voice actors? Jeeez…
Where were you guys in the ver. C and Evo days? At this point it looks like VF5 isn’t going to be vastly different from VF4, so y’all might as well get a copy of Evo and start getting a feel for the game now. Sure, the graphics are nice, but have absolutely nothing to do with the amount of enjoyment you’re going to get out of the game in the long run.
As one of the few remotely dedicated VF players in the US, I’m pretty skeptical that anyone from SRK will actually get serious with this game. It seems so fashionable to praise VF for its perceived “depth” or whatever nonsense, when barely anyone displays an actual understanding of the game and no one here bothers entering tournies or getting a local group of players started. I mean, if you guys don’t enjoy it, then that’s perfectly fine, since it seems like the only reason people pump up the game is to sound intelligent or fall in line with the forum consensus.
I play VF because I enjoy it. Fuck tournies.
And how would liking VF make you sound smart anyway?
Not everyone knows people willing to be serious with VF, so not getting a team of guys or whatever it is that you’re suggesting might not be possible. The game looks beautiful and smooth. It doesn’t need to be vastly different because Evo is already great as is. Did it ever occur to you that people praise VF because it’s a good game? Not everyone knows as well as some pros and “serious players” but we know it’s a fantastic game. And for the record, “Getting serious” isn’t required to having fun, so no, a lot of us won’t because there’s no reward for it. Everyone doesn’t have the privilege of convenient competition.
Another good reason to pump up the game is from the reputation of AM2, which is pretty good if you look at it. They haven’t failed us so far and there’s no indication for VF5 that they have now. You can’t really get mad at people for liking what they see and connecting it to the gameplay of VF4; it is the same franchise/provider ya know. If you’re as dedicated as you say you are there’s no need to use the phrase “perceived depth” like VF’s deepness is some stupid grade-school myth. Not to mention calling the game shallow would be downright stupid, so don’t even go there.
It’s almost as if you dislike the game coming out and can’t understand why others like it. Fighting games are kinda dead so it’s nice to see someone who still cares (AM2). I think that’s the root of a lot of this enthusiasm that you think isn’t justified.
Uhh, what do you even mean by that? Does entering tournaments imply that I only have something to prove and don’t actually enjoy the game? Don’t be so prickly and self-righteous about it. Tournies are pretty damn fun too. You should come to one before making that kind of judgement. I promise we won’t bite. I mean, that’s the thing – if you showed up at a tournament randomly people would take automatically take an interest in you. The VF community is always starving for new players.
Well, because people think it’s “such a deep game”(again, without knowing a damn thing about it, or after having read sirlin’s yomi article).
The other problem- how many VF machines are out there, in places that people would play it, to have comp? How many US arcades got Evo?
Evo’s a great game- but I only got to play it competitively against a better player once, and that was in tech school when I had a rotation of 100 people come in a week…
Ironically, the best way to get VF comp might be to hit anime cons if you’re not near an arcade- most cons would have VF in their game room.
