The Ultra Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread

I like the idea of desperate moves. The red life and that. it worked great in Fatal Fury and KOF.

Being rewarded for losing is dumb, and so is not being able to use your coolest moves because you’re winning.

I’m pretty sure the comeback mechanic will continue to exist anyway.

It’s not being “rewarded” for losing. It’s giving a chance to level the field.

If you’re a bad player, the Desperate Move will be useless, anyway.

Also, in many fighting games, getting hit also builds the super gauge. Isn’t that being “rewarded for losing” too, in some form?

If you get access to a cool flashy move that the winning player doesn’t, I consider that a reward.

Not really, because landing hits usually builds more. Which means the winner and the loser are getting the exact same reward, but the winner gets more of it.

If your “reward for losing” is getting LESS of the same resource the winner is getting, it’s not a reward.

I still keep the custom combo idea instead of a unique power up like ala V-trigger because what I had in mind was more on a team-based game instead of a one on one fighter.

They are probably working a way to ditch this.

Agreed. I wondered what they would do next, MVCi’s infinity-storm was kinda better than SFV V-trigger.

If we get Rose in season 5, we may finally lay to rest her Alpha3 ending as it will likely be retconned. I suspect her new ending will be an amalgamation of all 3 Alpha endings to setup SF4 clearly.

Rose coming according to everyone and everyone is sure about it, Like you ever wanted and believed, she probably would die like you expected.

Hah, hah. No way. It’s worked great so far. It catches that casual audience.

Ooo boy. I did further research about the “Lucia Morgan case”… And stumbled upon this archive of the Shoryuken forums from 2001-2002, where @Ultima reposted a long series of “facts” he claimed to have picked up from the message board of cammyfan.com.

Posted by Ultima on 09:24:2001 04:26 PM:
I figure it’s time to repost this. This was taken from the message board on
www.cammyfan.com. A lot of it coincides with what you say Clay. Almost word for
word at times. Did you post this over there by any chance under the name
“Kyokugen Master”?
[…]
60. Lucia’s(Final Fight 3)last name’s Morgan.

So this factoid was already known here back in 2001. @Clay then replied:

Posted by Clay on 09:24:2001 10:24 PM:
Ultima: First off, thanks for the correction about Q’s skeleton. I don’t play
him often, but I must have made a mistake. Next, I haven’t ever been to any
message boards at cammyfan, but I swear that I have seen some of the info that
you posted somewhere else before, any ideas? Some of that information is very
interesting and it does sound very accurate. Do you know the source?

Ultima replied (emphasis mine):

Nope. It’s third hand information. First it was posted by Kyoguken master over
on www.cammyfan about 2 months ago. In it, he quotes a friend named “Saiki” as a
person who can read Japanese and who translated stuff for him. He’s reporting
all of that from memory-
He posted it there, and then it was posted here on SRK.
Since this thread was brought back up, and you said something that were almost
identical to the original www.cammyfan.com post, I thought I’d re-post (I saved
a copy) and see if you had anything to do with it.

If you’re looking for the source, I think you’re gonna have to head over to
www.cammyfan.com and post on their message board and ask.

Ok, so… The original info about Lucia MORGAN came from Saiki. Why am I not surprised? I just hope there IS some source after all, but in the meantime I must clear Tiamat’s name and shift the suspect on Saiki about Lucia’s last name.

(Revised Cammy, Chun-Li, Ryu and Ken incoming; I didn’t forget :stuck_out_tongue: )

Ok pardon me if I am somewhat misunderstanding (its all getting a bit too convulted for me), so…that means Capcom canonised Lucia’s last name from a fan?

Basically, YES. Unless it turns out that Saiki had a reliable source, that’s exactly what happened. (And thinking about it, it could even be that Kyokugen Master did invent himself the name claiming that it came from Saiki…)
Around 2001, Kyokugen Master wrote in the board of cammyfan that Morgan was Lucia’s surname, claiming the info came from Saiki, along with a number of other unverified “facts” that at this point we should RECHECK ONE BY ONE. GAH.
The fact then ended up, still unverified, in the Old Plot Guide. So much so that Vasili questioned Tiamat about the matter, and Tiamat admitted he didn’t remember the source. Still, the fact remained untouched in the guide, and ended up in the English Wikipedia. From there, it crept into the Japanese Wikipedia, from where Capcom very likely took it.
Of course Capcom would now claim “No no, it was ‘Morgan’ since the very beginning!” if questioned, as Ryoredcyclone points out: even if it was a lie, it has been now canonised, so the whole affair is rather moot.
The power of the net, indeed.
It now dawns on me that the whole Ingrid affair could have to do with the Old Plot Guide: basically, UDON writing her as a capricious deity in SFxT just because she was described as such in the old plot guide, and from there in ALL the English websites about Capcom, even if Capcom Japan never imagined her character as a goddess. Who knows if Capcom saw that comic and questioned UDON asking “Excuse us, WTF are you doing?”.
And maybe - still MY OWN UNVERIFIABLE speculation, remember - maybe they conceived DARK Ingrid in a late attempt to save the whole mess by blaming the Pandora on her, who knows. Not that they did any indication pointing to that; so even this hypothesis remains my own wishful thinking, just because I’d want to save her.
Who knows what other tiny factoids were canonised in such a way, however.

Holy crap, that’s quite a tale regarding Lucia’s surname. This is pretty wack, also this happened before. At first I thought the guy in Q’s ending was Richard Burgman, but you pointed out he’s the PR guy and not their superior. In an Udon guide, he was shown in there and listed as Richard Burgman.

I imagine that type of thing wont happen anymore cause of double and triple checks by the lawyers.

A work by a 3d artist named Anton Lavrushkin, but I LOVE this design and wish he was an actual character for season V! Sad he’s not real, sad he’s not real. I want a character with an awesome fro like that, also seeing someone a bit more lean and less SFVBuff is a nice contrast.

That character model has better proportions than literally the entire cast of SFV

Ow man! You really dug up that information! Cammy Fan… 1999, 2000… Brings back old memories. That’s when I started to look into message boards for SF story. I started with Gouki’s Page of Whatever, GameFaqs, Cammy Fan (the webmaster, Stefan99, was such a nice guy) and then, around 2005 to 2006, I stumbled with the Warrior’s Fate thread when I was looking for Ingrid’s story transcript.

Now, about that archived SRK forum… One of the things on that list that Ultima quoted from “Kyokugen Master” was copy/pasted in the old plot guide… The info isn’t wrong, but the (supposed) original poster “Kyokugen Master” isn’t mentioned anywhere in the guide.

Well, Cody’s surname, Travers, came from FF Streetwise. There’s the possibility that it came from the Final Fight Tough manual or even one of the Gamest issues covering the game. I tried looking at AAC and Capcom Illustrations (Gamest Mook Vol 17), but there’s nothing about Lucia there.

That was one of the main reasons a new plot guide was started from scratch by bakfromon. Specially after Vasili claiming tha both Gouken and Gen were… “zombies”. :man_facepalming:

Wait. Wasn’t Ingrid meant to be a goddess since her creation from the cancelled Capcom All Stars game alongside D.D. and Rook? Now I’m confused… I though that the big mistake on her Zero 3 storyline was Capcom making a mess between Ingrid being the owner of a catalyst that fueled the Psycho Drive in the jap verstion, and the owner of Psycho Power itself in the US version.
About the UDON comic, was it released in the jap version of SFXT collector’s edition?

Nice! No hurries! Thanks a lot!

Rose Zero 3 ending already have some elements from Z1/Z2 endings. I doubt they will even touch about the same soul subject. Probably we will get a ending like Zero Cammy leaving a big “WTF happened” on our faces. A pity. They could have bridged it with her SF2 story, with Delta Red finding her with amnesia in a landslide during a stormy night.
I’ll be more than satisfied if they explain WHAT Vega/Bison got back from her body (I always believed it was his part of their soul) on her vanilla SFIV ending…

Looks like KOF character

Looks like if Afro Samurai was a Borderlands character…

Don’t like it, seems out some western game rather than a SF character

Give me him, proportionally built as G but taller

repping Jet Kune Do as Fei Long’s disciple.
Fun thing will not even need to fight like Fei at all, since Jet Kune Do encourage find your own form based on your characteristics and he will be totallly different than his master

Btw would love get a char sporting the afro, design wise it instant create a recognizable silhuette and is something iconic/cultural, perfect for SF
It’s something they considered since SF3SI concept phase days too

He’d be another KOF knockoff like Remy, Ingrid, C.Viper and another one that i can’t remember atm.
If i wanted KOF characters i’d boot up CVS2 or a KOF title.

I forgot to add your other skinny boy italian maggio to the earlier list. Imagine all your character request SFV happened then you called it diverse and perfect “5th street fighter”, while ditching final fight characters.

Wow an trying to add an odd one lol to make it seems not about skinny boys and hating those that had vags that you usually mentions. I like that SF4 failed concept character too to be someday in SF than all those other skinny white haired or fancy hair boys you repeatedly cried for years in the various threads for a skinny boys but…

Last time you had issues with Makoto because she is wearing a Karate Gi.

You even relate shoto to makoto becaùse of the karate gi.

Besides from shilling for the fake leaker claims and his dùmmy account, like shilling for the venice stage also, what else is beneficial adding CA2 to 40 plus characters?
