The Ultra Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread

True just because they’re military it doesn’t mean they are competent to lead, but Guile has been getting promotions and upping rank and charged with investigating SIN and other issues, he’s no longer going rogue for Charlie. At worst, he could defer to Byron as he’s a close ally and his superior.

My point with this is what makes Karin especially capable of leading a strike force against Shadaloo or other military powers? She can fight hand to hand no doubt, but strategy, coordinating troops, leveling risk, etc are a different game. I get the game has super powered martial artists with a heavily anime flair, but still, her being the total leader doesn’t make sense to me. In alpha 3 she was defined by being a bitter rival to Sakura and she grew into a level-headed young woman with a massive company under her watch, why can’t Guile change as well? He’s been involved in the SIN investigation and the events of the Black Moons before he even knew Charlie was back. Correct me if I’m wrong, but in SF4 and 5 he’s not going rogue like in SF2/alpha.

Some Capcom Vs SNK musings I felt like writing about.

Chun-Li and Kim both have a certain line towards villains that I thought was pretty cool.

Chun-Li says “Surrender” to the following: Bison, Balrog, Vega, Rolento, Akuma, Shin Akuma, Geese, Vice, Raiden, Iori, Orochi Iori, Rugal, God Rugal. Chun-Li doesn’t say anything to Evil Ryu.

Kim says “I can’t forgive you” to all the above, including Yamazaki (he has a special intro with Chun-Li) and Evil Ryu.

I like how Chun’s line carried over to MVC3, where she has a similar opener (“That’s enough! Surrender now!”) to all of the villains.

Strangely enough, Vice has a unique quote (“Your screams will be heard”) to Cammy, Evil Ryu, and Akuma. I never understood why she said this line to them, but then it made me think about her in KOF. Vice really hates Saisyu. This stems from her difficulty in brainwashing him during the KOF '95 era. She even spits at him in her opener in KOF 2002.

Cammy’s in “Doll” form, so she looks like a victim of mind control. Evil Ryu comes off as brainwashed with the whole, “My blood commands me to destroy everything in my path” point of view. Akuma is more leveled than both of them. Funny enough, in MVC3, Phoenix noted that the vast powers Akuma possessed were taking control of him. So my theory here is that Vice is reminded of Saisyu when she sees those three. That would explain why she wants to tear them apart.

I was always under the impression that Bison and Geese hosted the Capcom Vs SNK 1 tournament since they were the last bosses. It was actually a combined effort by the Masters Foundation and the Garcia Clique. Somehow Geese or Bison jacked the tournament and made it so the actual tournament winners would arrive at their venue. Joe and Dan ended up winning the tournament somehow.

Capcom Vs SNK 2’s tournament was another joint effort by the two organizations above. This time around, Rugal and Akuma decided to confront the winners (incomplete version of the story) instead of joining. In the complete version of the story, Akuma and Rugal clash, destroying most of Osaka.

Match of the Millennium also followed the tournament format. This story was much more fun to me because it had the Bison and Geese Alliance. The main motivation was to lure the strongest warriors into a trap in hopes of changing them into brainwashed warriors. They used the Psycho Drive to unleash Ryu’s Satsui no Hado and Iori’s Orochi Power. This concept stemmed from Alpha 3 where Bison was attempting to bring out Ryu’s Satsui no Hado with his Psycho Power.

SNK Vs Capcom Chaos didn’t follow the tournament power. It was mostly about everyone doing their own thing.

I really like to analyze the story within these games. It always has me notice something that wasn’t apparent to me before.

Dude, during the Osaka Final Battle stage, I used to wonder how many might have died in the destruction. A few blocks were destroyed, there was flames everywere… then, during the ending, the japanese April O’Neil mentions that there were only 5 casualities… ONLY F*CKING 5!!! I really think they forgot at least two zeros after that five…

Unfortunately, there isn’t much to cover… Just like most of the crossovers of that time. But the special intros against certain characters were awesome. I really would like something like that to be in Super SFV.

Thanks @Midgardsorm! Amazing as always! I’ll add it to the guide as soon as I can!

Akuma was interesting when he had no clear backstory it’s not really just him destroying bison but him having interrupt battles. In the early alpha game he also destroys everyone designated final boss.

Bison was interesting during the whole alpha, not in SF2, it’s not the about him chasing Ryu. It’s a out him being a villain wanting new vessel a warriors body to handle his psycho power.

Sagat is alredy okay his just like Alpha Ken already in a different variant in terms of story standpoint since present Ken has changed for being more in family and a father then with Sean.

SNH should never be a cased with anybody(that include Sakura) other than Akuma and Necali later as the game story progress.

Kage like I said before in previous threads and here did a decent job separating Evil Ryu to Ryu from every aspect from gameplay and story. He eliminates the possiblity of recurring Evil Ryu clone so no Evil Ryu anymore in the future that makes Ryu redundant and obsolete. His both storywise and gameplay wise.

Kage even cleared out the Akuma haunting Ryu Telephathically and subconsciously because those were ridiculous unless that’s Bison and Rose forte, unless Akuma would became Oni.

I don’t mind Akuma dying or fully became Oni later, I have said this before rather than him killing characters. Because everyone routing for Akuma badassness is mostly all into Oni.

Capcom just need also to stop making villains trying to convince or making Ryu special. This is coming from a Ryu fan. People are already hating SF: Ryu adventure, not because of Ryu really becoming something else but because they didn’t like it of being about Ryu anymore. Ryu should remain as is where he was.

SNH was overly used story, Ryu should already surpass that and SF3 Ryu is the better Ryu backstory. Yes the most interesting was Alpha Ryu but that was teenager Ryu. People dreaming of Ryu Mastering SNH hoping he would perform better in future games will be just frustrated because that is not how a fighting game is especially for a character like Ryu.

Also avoid making convulted and complicated relationship like parental and etc. It would ruin. Akuma and Ryu wasn’t a thing during alpha other than an a single OAV. That would just destroy Ryu and Akuma appeal.

Popculture characters doesn’t need climactic and closure stories anymore in a fighting game. Let new SF stories be progess by focusing with new characters as the spotlight while the iconic characters are just behind the scenes or being met by new characters.

Got snag some SF Ryu from my flea market escapades in my recent HK vacation, I don’t understand their language thanks to a company escort here. I was suprised that this stuff were Capcom licensed. I was expecting that they were unlicensed stuff. My vacation ends next weekend.

I used to know this was part of the manhua or chinese manga/comic promotion according to another website but i kinda surprised that those stories were Capcom licensed.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but we only learned that Karin leads those ninja chicks in SFV. This may have been put there to show she could lead… What kept them from giving us a panel or two in Guile’s story, showing us when he’s leading, say, ten soldiers to take a Shadaloo base? Heck, why not Cammy? She leads Delta Red. Why Karin? Like some guy above said, it’s fanwanking. No matter what people say to defend Karin being a good fit to lead, it will always be out of place when we have the likes of Guile and Chun-Li. And let’s not forget Urien’s quote to Chun-Li in 3S about how SHE put an end to that organization, not Mary Sue.

I mean…he IS the one in the Air Force. Makes sense for him to be the pilot.

Leader Karin was pathetic

I mean you want give Money? Great
Offer your Pink ninjas as support? Fine
Hire some minor characters? Good

But see vets like Guile, Chun etc fall under the anime leader gurl gimmick as if she know better than them was ridicolous lol

I think Saisyu is one of the best Boss SNK ever designed, he can stand next to Geese without shame

Saisyu is one of the best “Older master” character types around. He’s so boss

The only explanation I can come up with Karin being the mastermind behind the World Warriors’ plans in regards to the chess pieces and preventing Bison’s plan is Bison messed with her property so shit got personal, and for whatever reason she’s well informed about other fighters’ whereabouts (see the character story where she encounters Oro himself), so her intel network allowed for better coordination who travels where

Yet I like chin gentsai more as an old master in KOF

Or Karin is an insufferable Mary Sue that has to be ham-fisted into the plot and fuck anyone’s desire for logic

I always found it a bit weird that despite being such a vital part of the plot, Robert wasn’t playable, could imagine him having a special intro with Ken.

Real rivalry should be Ryo v Cody, Robert v Guy and Ken v Kyo (fiery guys), Terry v Ryu (Main character boss vanquishers)

And, of course, K v Alex (newcomer heroes match up) and Iori v Sagat (old rivals of main characters square off)

I’ll go

Sagat vs Krauser instead,

Then Alex vs Gai Tendo or Tisoc.

Felicia V Athena
Alex or Falcon V Rock

Cammy doesn’t lead Delta Red. She never lead them.

Yeah, sorry about that. My mind leapt to UDON comics and Delta Blue. Anyway, my point is, anyone but Karin was a good fit to lead the team at that point.

I don’t have a problem with people thinking someone besides Karin should have lead the team in ASF. I do have a problem with people thinking Guile, Cammy, or Chun Li should have been in charge. None of them have been a leader. Make a real suggestion for a replacement. Guile has shown the propensity for going AWOL when Shadaloo is involved, Cammy’s ice cold efficiency melts away whenever Bison/The Dolls are involved, and Chun Li is only in Interpol to get Bison. Every time Bison is out of the picture, she leaves Interpol. Three characters that have their judgment thrown off by Shadaloo, shouldn’t be leading a mission to bring down Shadaloo. Having a NPC like Byron Taylor lead the mission would have been a better option than Guile, Cammy, or Chun Li.
