The Ultra Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread

Honda to me never changed much as vibe, i remember him having a bit of goofy side
Dude was SF facepainted fat guy, fighting in a bath house, had his silly human missile move, a Flying dive butt and did the 1000 slaps… ever had fun aura to us kids, him and Sim

Not directly ingame but related media had Honda on the smile side too… in SF2tAM was like that, both SF2 manga and cards even had comedy moment of him going perv on Chun Li lol*

Blanka have sense to go in ever less feral mood (and trigger It only when Is actually needed) the more story goes on, he left savage jungle Life years ago

Talking about Blanka i think his SFV command throw may have been invented for Necalli, some concept sketches show Nec having a ground and pound move
I like It on Blanka, but Nec imho needed It more to add some spice to his moveset

*I guess the joke back then was him doing the hug throw on Chun (only female back then) doing the face dive on her boobs

I really like that 2nd Honda. I always like it when he has some kinda robe.

This is one of these i was thinking about

I remember another similar too

Also in SF2 manga iirc there was a scene where during a Honda vs Chun he catch her, but as soon she realize he’s enjoying it too much she get the classic anime-girl-pissed-at-perv rage boost and throw/defeat him lol

Is that from those weird Korean comics?

I think that the manhua you’re thinking of are from Hong Kong?

Anyway you reminded me of that SF3 one where Sean demolishes Urien and the CVS one where all the characters are in heaven and Zero from Megaman is one of Gods angels.

The Kanzaki manga had that scene.

Hahaha I used to own that. Ryu making out with Chun, Sagat scalps Sagat.

Better storyline than Shadows Fall.

Don’t @ me.

Yeah, I think a balance of friendly and feral works best for Blanka. Like, not overly cuddly, but have him be a chill, likable guy as he is now, have him be badass when he fights and maybe in his post-SF2 days, have him try and put on a “ring persona” (probably at the suggestion of Dan) for fighting, but eventually have him settle into doing the Blanka chan thing publicly. Still have him intense in fights, but he’d still have that appeal where, in real life, you’ve got kids loving monsters and stuff. He could be the savage fighter, but still beloved by the audience, so to speak.

Making him purely serious never worked well for me. The subversion always seemed to have longer legs for any potential series and make him able to grow easier.

Also agreed, never really saw Honda as serious. Though I tend to remember his characterization from the SF2 manga and SF2AM where he’s boisterous and more energetic like Cestus said. I can’t remember how we was in the early, game-only days.

That part of that comic was in an issue of EGM I had for some reason.

Goddamn I miss video game magazines…

Man, that shit was too much for me as a kid. Go into the pharmacy, look at the magazine/comic section.

Holy Shit! Street Fighter comics.

Open it up, see this:

The 90s were a different time.

The way I imagine Blanka, and I did since SF2 no less, is that he is friendly with people. So he’d spar with Dan and be chill about it, he’ll joke and play around with Sakura, he’d have a nice dinner with his mother, complete with table manners gags… but if he where to get into a serious fight, since he is a Street Fighter after all, he’d be pretty damn feral, like in the SF2 Animated movie where he is trying to make kebab out of Zangief. If it were a tournament or something he probably wouldn’t go for a kill or anything… but if say some Shadaloo soldiers came to attack him or his familly and friends… let’s just say you wouldn’t tech his neck bite forward throw.

Think of those videos of people who raised lions.

The lions are all fuzzy and cuddly with those people… but would you really wanna make that cute lion mad?

That was the first time a comic made me angry. :triumph:

I wonder why Capcom didnt vetoed that storyline beforehand. The curious in me whishes that would happened (no Ken killing/scalping) so the cómic could’ve continued, just to see some more whacky stuff lol.

He wasn’t scalped. Sagat cut his head off, put in a box, put it in Ken’s convertible, and ran the car through Ryu’s dojo. Ryu thinks Ken is pranking him, finds the box, opens it, and sees Ken’s head. I only read that crap once and it is scorched in my memory.

Likely because that’s not how the licensing deal worked.
