Hi! Longtime lurker, first time poster. Does anyone know where Lucia’s surname comes from? I always assumed the surname Morgan was made-up by a fan, since I never seen it used before, but somehow it ended up being used on the latest Street Fighter V reveal.
I’m mutual with a Japanese Street Fighter fan on Twitter named Ryo_Redcyclone and he’s wondering where the surname came from, since he couldn’t find it either on the official Final Fight Tough strategy guide. I know Vasili10 added the surname to the Street Fighter Plot Guide as early as 2005, but he never mentioned any source.
When the most concern is the hair color. 4 thats not even the 1/12 On the cast. I don’t mind game with a whole game with most having red head as base on settings.
The thing is the settings and the role of the character and how she would be played.
While the military thing kinda lol. The others have their military as alternates, Having a dress and a karate gi isnt an issue. SF is kinda against people that works under the law, with martial arts and 90s theme. So having a military suit, dress isn’t something terrible for having 3. This isn’t Guilty Gear.
When people judge so early, and nickpick things just for visuals . Because of hair color… lol
Right, but it’s kinda nitpick. Yets the classic is still there and it’s more bland than usually even it had better colors. Because they kept it 1:1 aspect of the original. Like they did with Cody because it’s more of a nostalgia costume not the modern times.
Lol, how about Kolin aka Hellen having ice and now fights, man Lucia having flames isn’t really a question something to be confused.
She seems to be Ken’s Sakura 2.0 or Ken genderswap because judging with the element and tatsu. That kinda of perspective and analogy is narrow.
but for someone that claims to understand thats amateurish perspective, you have discussed her a lot in the thread and even giving points which makes that funny.
Tatsu are essential to fighting games as well as fireballs than uppercuts. Kazuya Mishima had Tatsu and Uppercut but they are unique and different in properties.
Her case with Ken isn’t similar as the problem of Ryu and Akuma or Ryu and Evil Ryu. It’s to cringey to force it because of having fire.
Her having fire isn’t an issue since flame are the most used effects in the fighting game than electricity and ice. Along with Fire as her original effects so having it isn’t an issue. Saying that she had just one so it’s wrong to have rest is kinda off because she had no other elemental effects other than fire. If she had another but was left off thats were it’s kinda wrong.
The fire reference is literally predominant to her than even Guy and not just because of one move. You probably never seen her at the cover.
Hi dude!
First of all props for having brown-hair-Cody as av, this qualify you as good human being
About the Lucia, watching on a wiki name seem to be " Lucia Morgan (ルシア・モーガン Rushia Mōgan)"
The wiki does’nt offer a source but mention
" For years, it was rumored that her surname was Morgan. This was confirmed with her Street Fighter V trailer."
I can’t help more aside add that for what’s worth i remember too her being called Morgan before this SFV reveal, but can’t really point since when
Cody himself did’nt had a surname untill FF Streetwise, many many years after FF1 and not canon while at it
I think it has been canonized at some point in SF
I guess with hm they wanted a surname with “T” as tribute to Tom Cody, the movie character Cody was inspired on
Yeah I prefer her as a butch stoic older lesbian type. She would’ve been unique among the cast that way instead of looking like the teen daughter of Chun and Cammy.
I think like many others SFV animations is a tribute to her FF3 ones, in this case when she got the telescopic baton (tonfa in SFV), wich was her personal favourite weapon in FF3 (each char got one)
see, downward → upward as she does in the trailer
Peter got also downward → upward but he does it with inverted arm… from “Player 1” position Peter use right hand, while Lucia use left hand as in old FF3 sprite
The issue here is that Capcom starts to distance SFV’s new character to a more serious vibe, like G, Zeku and Menat it’s like teen titans. I have pointed this issue with Zeku before.
I mostly agree with the criticism of her more like jolly than the previous incarnation, she better more matured and serious.
So probably her character from being stoic became jolly to fit the vibe the current game environment and settings. Same thing as Cody from a tragic character to a more vibrant version.
I see no real bad consequence with that for newer characters or others that weren’t set to appear in SF3, but her being more vibrant and jolly doesn’t really make her not okay with her
character because the current settings of Metrocity is more vibrant that what is was during FF3. Right.
Actually whatever criticism of her character is just average and isn’t terrible. Unlike what Decapre had been badly judge of. Lucia can easily fit any SF vibe whether the tone would be shift she can adopt because of her role.
She flexible character like Mika and Laura because her motivation isn’t against or connected to any organization or a particular person(or her just lightly connected to other sf characters). unlike Chun li and Cammy that has more serious background which hard to shift tones.
It’s not, do we feel bad there are some that had similar comparison in SFV but it’s not.
All I can say with people having misconception of Lucia as a clone of Ken because of fire effect. We still didn’t have a female that is into fire and her character can improve if ever she resurface again for future titles unlike clones. Her moves isn’t clearly shoto inspired right? Chun li and Cody has a spinning kick move too.
Laura isn’t genderswap Blanka right even she ended looking like female blanka that has rolls too in a different manner.
I just noticed that at the end of Lucia’s CA her opponent literally explodes. Pretty nice.
I agree that for her default and battle costumes they went for really generic designs (there’s an overabundance of cops/military guys in the game), but at least it looks like the nostalgia costume will be pretty dope.
Yes, I’ve read his concern that Capcom (and Disney!) could’ve canonised a fan theory or idea. I’m slightly concerned by this as well, but unfortunately can’t help you as I lack primary sources. Vasili10 doesn’t seem to like to post in this thread anymore, and his last post in the forums dates back to last December. Maybe @Lord_Vega or @Doctrine_Dark could’ve something useful regarding this matter. Any written Capcom source prior to 2005 would do, I think.
I feel so bad for Ono. I hope it wasn’t something that he would get into trouble with his higher ups if this isn’t something like a stunt for a surprised, because I actually I don’t expect something more than average stuff.
Imho even just brown eyes does wonders at give her a bit of visual separation from cammykolinfalke
She actually looked much tougher
about her clothes, her design was correct as it was
She was on not-uniform mission, and that was essentially the style of FF days Metro City streets, she dressed in a way she could look of some street MC gang
Her canon normal work look* was showed in FF3, was pretty normal/modest
She got a bit of Robocop’s Anne Lewis there
The thing is that’s the default skin tone lighting for likes her if you would compare to the likes of Cody. She’s not darker than Cody by default. The sprite art fits the color palette of the game FF3 but the current color palette of SFV is more bluish and pinkish in hues. it’s a common trend of lighting and color combination. That is even used for video rendering nowadays.
So making her directing colors closely to the sprite would make her definitely out of place.
The environment, aesthetics and the base color palette of the game. It’s not just as simple like that because these are the main reasons you need to consider. That would be okay if that was just for a game-art not for in-game 3d models.
This is why color palette are important that I mostly discuss and mentioned in the thread.
When your working with stuff like this in a creative industry your part of a team and with restrictions and limitations that are need to be considered.
