i know right.
why are so many storm players reluctant to use Lightning sphere
Because the wrong one or the right one at the wrong time is about as fatal as a missed Typhoon, LOL! The overall risk of the move takes it out of players’ minds even where there are risk-free spots in which to use it. Just the way that cookie crumbles, I guess.
He was using typhoon a lot though so the unpredictable “oh that move exists?” nature of lightning sphere usually catches people off guard. I also noticed that if you do a diagonal-down lightning sphere it will usually make players jump up where you can throw out a lightning sphere to go straight across and get you some chip damage. Just an odd psychological thing I picked up on.
Speaking of Vergil/Storm, Justin Wong just uploaded some recent matches with him using Vergil/Storm/Akuma. If that interests you.
I like point Vergil with Storm simply because he can use a neutral assist in the way back while being one of the few characters to set up legitimate combos with Typhoon assist.
Also been experimenting with Storm in the 3 spot lately. I don’t like it, but I have to worry less about team construction and have more freedom to try new things.
I should also update this combo section, it’s kinda bare.
If anyone is interested, Justin has played alot of Storm and spent a couple hours trying new tech w/ her.
He worked (with Neo)on counters to Virgil, Storm’s movement, Lightning sphere guard breaks mix-ups on incoming ect. He was told to check out xeros youtube channel.
This was Justins response-
Justin Wong @JWonggg 5h
@GoukenRespek @GoldenBoyNeo ya I love his tech but I want to see some neutral stuff that can help my game.
the response to that was-
@JWonggg @GoldenBoyNeo yeah I hear what your saying definitely. Do you mean neutral in terms of resets/approach choices?.
He thinks Storm struggles in the neutral. do you guys agree. i could have sworn Xero had a storm reset Video but i didnt see it.
If I remember right, Storm resets are in the Storm BnB compilation. I don’t remember a video specifically about resets on its own.
I think Storm “struggles” in neutral only because she’s not threatening really. You can hit people and push them around, but they’re getting hit and only thinking “I will kill you when I reach you.” Partially because of Storm’s low damage (which makes enemies less afraid to act recklessly) and partially because of her wonky confirms (which means enemies don’t mind eating overheads if they’re hard to convert), there are many reasons why Storm has trouble in the neutral game despite having arguably the best movement in the game. She primarily lacks a killer move–even if it’s a scrubhammer like Helm Breaker or Nova j.:h:, she doesn’t have a move that people REALLY have to respect at all levels of play, so these things all embolden the opponent and they play like they don’t have anything to “deal with” on the other side of the screen.
Not sure how resets themselves play into neutral–that is about as far from the neutral game as you can get.
DAFUQ?!?!?! WHEN I SAY THAT SHIT?!?!?!
When’d you say what?
what can you say about Dios X’es way of using Storm?
Nope i never said you stated that, Justin Wong stated that her neutral was bad.
and Justin stated that she struggles not that she’s bad in neutral
I had to go back and look at your post. I didn’t notice the period you had after the question mark showing the end of the quote. At the same time there was no space in-between what you said and what you quoted so it made it look like Justin was putting words into my mouth and that’s some shit I don’t like. I deal with that enough in the military. Forgive my misunderstanding.
In other news, I’ve finally stopped trying to push Storm’s normal damage limits as I feel those aren’t going any higher. I did however record a few combos in XF2 and honestly the difference between her normal self and XF2/3 is stupid. I omit XF1 because it’s the same as her normal form except with a slight speed increase. In XF2/3 she is just a complete character. Damage is doubled seems like (I never checked the facts so if it is then yay for my guessing), her speed obviously is there, hit stun isn’t as much of an issue anymore, and her meter build is stupid good. I ended most of the combos in hailstorm but it was really me just coming up with stuff on the fly. I think if you can end in LS it would be much better as it saves XF time but I’ll be investing more time in XF combos with her later.
Here is the the link with a description on my take of the character.
Cloud805 is so good. I hope he would use Storm someday!
This up TAC infinite is starting to get on my nerves. is there any trick to the timing or am I just supposed to pause… for a very long time?
Just gotta pause. Eventually you will memorize the timing, although I am sure it varies for a few characters on the extremes of the size scale.
Air dash down do L lightning sphere then go from there. It’s much easier to time
I hope there’s going to be a final patch this year. Faster typhoon start-up please!
That was random
