The Ultimate Magnus Thread. The godlike stuff

im pretty sure it works on all non heavey characters like shehulk, nemesis

I really need to learn the j.S grav loop

hey so i practice magneto for some time today and im starting to interested in him. i think i would like to learn him but idk where to start. i already learned his basic fly loop and im gonna work on his beginners bnbs. however even with combos i still need to learn “magneto” if you get what i mean. so what should i focus on with him as a character?

Learning movement. Sorry, no time to explain fully now, but that’s the most important thing with magneto, imo.

excatly how do you “move” with magneto. i play doom so im good at tri dashes. is there a certain way tho with magneto?

Moving with magneto comes over time. The more you play him the more you “connect” or learn how to move around with him. Its not really something you can teach someone…its something on the fly that you do as movement. Kind of hard to explain but hope that helps a bit. Basically the more you play with him the more you’ll learn his movement.

A good way to learn how to move is to literally play tag with a friend in the training room.
Chase your friend down, hit him to tag him, when he’s it, you run. If you have the luxury of doing this for a few hours, you’ll pick up on his movement relatively quickly.

Anyone have a basic/intermediate TAC for Magneto If I exchange down?

After a downward TAC; j:h: adf j:h: qcb:s: j:h: addf j:h: add j:h: qcb:s: j:h: s:h: xx Hyper Grav etc i think you can shorten it depending on how high you are in the air

does anyone have any tips on doint the j.S grav loop?
I just can’t figure out hte timing. do we input it faster or sj higher than j.H loop?
is it a specific SJ direction?

I lost in losers semis too…total record being 4-2. So how did you beat remix mayho? I ended up losing to him in my pool and I could identify what I was losing too–bullshit xf guard cancel with wesker and the vergil magneto mixup. People are telling me to just jump when hit with that kinda situation but just want to clarify if there’s much else I can do.
Also, tips for that J.s loop if any are appreciated. Like does it matter what direction you air dash?

Don’t go for blockstrings if you think the other person is going to guard cancel you. The other option is if you have the reaction, just mash the fuck on snapback when you see that Xfactor.

Aside from counter Xfactor, and snapback, I’ve heard that instantly going for a throw is a viable tactic against the Xfactor guard cancel. Haven’t tried it myself, but I’ve had it done to me successfully.

Shoutouts to the Mag forums, and shared technology. I forget who posted this, but THANK YOU for, f.H buffered into force field at start of match. Going chest to chest against Hulk at start of match, and then punishing Hulk with force field or throw is so satisfying. And completely fucks up ur opponents confidence. A timid Hulk is a dead Hulk.

Oh, and I’ve started using forcefield against projectiles with great effect. Lol, saved my ass against anchor Arthur yesterday. Props forcefield guy!

Oh word you were in Aaron’s pool (FR RoachKing). If you watched his match with Remix you should be able to see remix’s weaknesses, primarily he’s too hasty at throwing things out. I pretty much bullied him with Wesker on point but most of all play patient against him, once Wesker died I did more of the same patient disruptor teleport cross up game with Akuma. Out matches often ended with Magnus vs Magnus, with or without XF, so it was a lot of baiting and movement. I did notice that Remix doesn’t really know how to deal with MagBlasts. Hope that helps. our set was 3-2, was mad I didn’t do better cause I play with Aaron and the other GA killers, and Aaron 2-0’d him and 2-1’d him in tourney lol.
You can catch one of the Remix/Aaron matches here http://www.twitch.tv/funkyp/b/310637120 at the hour 15 mark.

I remember that match. ROFL I wish someone had filmed his popoff. Just the start of it was the funniest moment of FR, watching the kid puff up after the win and stare down salty Remix. That kid was a God for a brief moment.

GA land of namco games, pop offs and peaches

I don’t know if you figured it out by now, but here’s a few tips:

  1. Buffer the SJ behind the hyper grav (HG loop 101 right there)
  2. SJ up-forward to retain proximity to the opponent. Again, 101.
  3. Air dash DOWN. This boosts your landing speed.
  4. P-link the j.S. In other words hit MH~S (or any other combination for dash)
  5. Hit st.H as soon as you land.
  6. Cancel st.H as soon as it hits.
  7. Don’t get too happy just because it hit and forget to go back to 1)

TY sir, figured it out, but thanks nonetheless
