yup
http://www.twitch.tv/torontotoptiers/b/307548890 this is a stream of the last tournament i played in. The games i got on stream were at 15:45, 1:19:30, and 1:25:05(the next match). I’m open to any tips, suggestions, critique to my play as I just want to level up
I’ve been trying to do the basic:
j.S, cr.H, s.S, j.H, ADD, j.H, s.H xx L Hyper Grav, sJ, ADD, j.H, s.H xx L Hyper Grav etc etc
My problem lies after the first Hyper Grav, I super jump and dash down, hit the two Hs but the next hyper grav doesn’t connect because they’ve fallen too close to the ground already. From what I can see on various tutorial videos they hit the standing H under the opponent’s character and they get caught by the hyper grav while falling. Any tips on how to judge how high I should be jumping? Or am I not hitting H fast enough while dashing down?
Someone please offer some advice so I may advance from Fraudneto to Swagneto.
Hope two assists are fine by you!

wireless pads (including stock PS3 ones) are BANNED! No discussion! At battle and brew in a 20 man tournament random pauses happen atleast 3 times! Multiple that by 20 per day and that equals a huge headache during tournament play. Get you a ps2 pad or take the battery out of the ps3 pad so it will only work when you plug it in. If you are caught using a wireless pad at FRXV you will be disqualified
I may have some old ps2 pads for sale on the cheap at FRXV, but that will be a 1st come 1st serve.
Just a heads up for any pad warriors planning to make the trip.
Yup!
As someone who is considering Magneto and does not want to be free, I have two questions. How hard is Mag to use and how does he normally fare against Zero?
Even though you can do simple shit with him like LMHS xx Super, to do his combos, mix-ups, movement, resets etc takes quite a bit of time to get down. He’s actually not that hard to figure out if you’ve been playing Versus. games for while.
And in my opinion, I think Magneto v Zero is 6-4 Magneto because of how efficient Magneto is at consistently gaining meter while having high damage output on Zero as well being able to cover horizontal and vertical space on the screen, which Zero needs.
Only few flaws in that match are that his super/trijump downback is too slow, if you don’t move around in the air fast enough, then Zero will be all over you.
I personally think Zero v Magneto is one of the most back and forth matchups in the game. I dont think I can say its 5-5 because depending on the circumstances it could be 6-4 to either character. Basically, if magnus has meter or an opening mixup, he has a massive advantage and if Zero gets you locked down once and controls the air you won’t be able to move.
i just wanna say that on this last note, you should wavedash backwards instead
Well that only works when the other character doesn’t shoot plasma or is buffering a move/assist. I still do trijump downback for mix ups off of drones/missiles.
EDIT: to Sabin41(can’t access my inbox atm): I haven’t been using Haggar as much lately as I’d like, but I do plan on playing with him sometime later today to do some experiments I have in mind concerning the team of Magneto Haggar Doom
Okay, I’ve been doing some versus games for a bit. Yeah I figure the mixups and resets are going to be the hard part to get down.
As far as what you were talking about with Mag vs Zero, that’s kind of what I was thinking. Mag can control airspace pretty well between Shockwave and the attraction/repulsion.
So the way I’m thinking of running my team is Taskmaster(H. Shot)/Magneto(Disruptor)/Doom(Missiles). Task is my point character and builds solid meter and carries you to the corner quite easily with most of his B&B combos. Mag’s assist provides a good horizontal coverage while Missiles cover the vertical. Magnetic tempest will make a good DHC from the majority of my Taskmaster corner combos and I can always TAC to Mag to continue the carry to the corner and build enough meter to finish off with a Gravity squeeze.
On paper Mag backed up by Doom missiles, with attraction and repulsion seems like it should be able to effectively control the screen and frustrate someone into a position where I can punish bad buttons.
That being said I have to try a lot of these things out, still waiting on my xbox to get back to me after being repaired :/.
Is my analysis right and have you seen someone try that before? Also there is a sweet combo I like with Mag and Doom missiles, lol.
Did you ever finish editing the vids?
almost
Yo, does anyone know how to get consistent auto correction j.S? I can only land it 5/10.
what do you mean auto correct j. s?
Tri Jump S cross up
Step 1 - Superjump UF over a character’s head
Step 2 - (Not sure what the correct timing is) dash DF j.S
If you do it at the right time Magneto will (auto correct) backdash S. you can even do it up close(SJUF, ADD, J,S)
I’ve been trying to learn that shit for a month now. I can only get it perfect in the corner.
when u fight a zero that does lighting buster cancel crap, the match up gets increasingly difficult.
anyone got any anti vergil strats? tri jump offense is really risky against this guy because he can just launch on reaction, it is so dumb.
mag blast was once an awkward motion to me but after so many matches of mag blast zoning and mag blast combos it is as easy as QCF moves. KEEP GRINDIN!
