The Ultimate Magnus Thread. The godlike stuff

What would you guys say is the best means to convert off Jam Session if the opponent is hit in the air or grounded?

@Zuchi: Look at everything that me, Aerial and Kanta have been posting lately, take that shit in the lab and do some research. If you quit now you will be forever called a pussy. No magnet for you.

@Synikal: Either one you can dash up and, if in the air, try superjumpin uf j.:h: adf j.:h: MagBlast:l:
or if he’s grounded just :s: j.:h: adf MagBlast:l:

Experimentation my friend.

To suggest I haven’t been experimenting is insulting. I was simply looking to see what others were doing.

Limbo is one of the best players we’ve ever produced in Ohio. Good to see he’s wrecking peoples shit in wherever this threads location dictates.

Hey guys,

I’m thinking of picking up Magneto as he seems really strong, but i’m a little intimidated by all the variation and apparent difficulty of his combos.

I play Doom at the moment and can do pretty much all of his loops, like the Clockwork and Buktooth stuff and I was wondering how big is the leap between Doom and Magneto in terms of execution? Are they in the same ball park and would the skills I have with Doom translate over to Magnus?

Apologies if this is in the incorrect location!

@Synikal: I was kidding lol Wasn’t meaning to insult you at all broseph. Let me know how jam session works for you since I was using weasel shot with magneto.

@Brightside: I’m still salty about that shit lol

@Escrya: No you’re in the right place my friend! If you’re trying to pick up Magneto and you need info on the basics, then please check the first page of this thread.
Also what team are you trying play?

Good shit Blood, I really got to hit the lab soon. I’ve been having a damn identity crisis, trying to figure out who should be my point character so I haven’t had much time to mess around with Swagnus in Ultimate. Think I’m starting to settle with Dorm though, so I should have time soon.

Magneto’s combos are a little bit more difficult imo, but not by much. The most important thing, though, is to learn how to move around with him. He doesn’t have FOOT DIVE to open people up, so Magneto has to work a little bit to open people (granted its easy work :)). I suggest you just learn his basic fly loop, then Magnetic Blast (aka Alioune) loop, and then finally Hyper Grav loop so you can squeeze in some extra damage and meter gain at the end of your combos.

Then after he’s done with those he can work on resets for even more gdlk damage! ^^

Oh yeah how did I forget about Magneto’s ridiculous reset ability

Doom has as hard a time as Magneto opening people up. Footdive isn’t meant to blow people up, his trijump is, and his dirty ass cross-ups that are impossible to react to.

Combo-wise, I find Doom basic as damn. And he does a lot ore damage, and builds more meter than Magneto.

wait, what was the question again? ^_^" Magneto fcking rocks, and he’s definitely worth the trouble.

Yo, blood, SWAG has been stolen. You and Kanta come up with some sick shit.

P.S. I have food in my belly, but I’m not full yet. I need more POWER!

If any of you guys want to play me online, then feel free to add Lawless77 since i’m at my friends he’s letting me use his 360 n shit.

Thanks for all the tips guys, pleasantly surprised how helpful you all are!

@ Settai: i’ll totally start learning those asap, it’s cool to have some direction on what to work on! I’ve also got the bible to help too but the combos in there don’t seem as effective.

Probably gonna end up rocking Mags / Wesker / Doom or something to that degree. Thinking wesker’s OTG into Tempest as a combo ender, see a lot of folks using that. And Hidden Missiles to help cover Mag and for use with mixups. But of course if you guys have any advice on that direction i’d definitely take it on board!

I’m sorry yall but i can’t fuckin play marvel anymore. I’m just a fuckin fraud who keeps losing to the same bullshit captain ryu wesker team this one asshole i know always plays and always fuckin exposes me and i’m getting sick of this shit man i really am.

i want to keep playing, but i need some tips to not get as salty

You want tips to not get salty at marvel? Try playing SF4 for two years, with Seth, when you’re getting random’d out by stupid-ass bullshit in tournaments because you have 750 health and the reversal window is ridiculous.

Then you come to Marvel, and no matter what happens you won’t feel as salty as you did in SF4. Ever.

I just have so much fun at this game, because there is so much labwork to be done, there is so much sickness to execute during a match, there is so much salt to inject directly into your opponents veins that I can’t drop it.

You just need to play to be disgusting. That’s what I do at least. The saltier my opponent is at the end, the happier I walk out :stuck_out_tongue:
Don’t drop out bloo!

(Also, going to actual tournaments, especially for you guys living in America, is something that has to be done. You need to live the hype for this game, it gets you hooked and you just want more of it, every time.)

Dude I’ve been playing Akuma/Sagat for the longest fuckin time lmao

Also me and some friends plan on going to a tournament next month so I’ll be testing my skills in actual people who play as competitively as I do. Trust me man, I love me some humble pie.

Zone them? You use sentinel and I don’t think that team has something to bead drones. Maybe tatsu idk. Catch them in drones and addf L like 5 times. Well cap just is valnurable after shield slash I think. if its too close. stay in the air, fly and plink dash S.

Seth is freakin cheap easy to use. dive kicks, sniper, vortex, teleports, command throw, alright normals etc. He’s not like dhalsim where he needs to hit with well placed limbs.

You will feel absolutely salty then play modok esp when starting out with him. He has slow normals that are very deliberate. His st. L or cr. L are not that good. He has no herp derp tools. He can’t chicken guard which means he’s subjected to high lows. Wrong push block then your dead because the slow normals come out except st. m? At least magneto has rufus + overhead pressure and great mobility. Sure Modok has addf or adf M and addf or addb S (which has a small low hit box still alright) but they have blind spots. Mag’s and anti air modoks j. S. Modok has a huge hit box on top of that. Modok can cancel normals into cubes (needs spacing) but he eventually commits and it gets him killed or blocking. Magneto can cancel into flight or mash cr. L. Also modok has trouble against top tier threats. magneto has OS addf aduf H throw. Char like ryu, cap, deadpool and Seth from ssf4 at least are straight forward characters to use. Overall Modok has rewarding abilities that keep me playing him and the game like cube combos, 1 hit kills, gimmicks, jamming bomb resets.

If your feeling salty then you should take some potassium.

Seth is anything but easy to use, against decent players. If you play shitty people all day, I see why you might get that idea. But these aren’t the SF4 discussion boards. Though I’d like to know what the fuck is a sniper. I’d think it could be his j.HP, but hey, they removed that.

Magneto requires a brain to use well. Difference between him and Dr. Derp is night and day.

If you can do Dr. Derp’s combos, you can probably do Mangoneto’s fly combos and magnetic blast swag without much effort.

Movement is a completely different beast though.

These are the combos that I use in matches. They consist of combining magnetic blast, roms and hyper grab loops. I had many more to show but I wanted to keep it short. Oh, and sorry about the quality. Anyone know how to convert video so that it doesnt have those shaky scan lines?
