So did you play in the tournament at all? I had a bye round 1 and went 2-2. I think I finished 5th in my pools.

As for the arcade room, the majority of the people at the 3S cab were old 3S heads from NC.

Dunno if you guys are interested but did a magneto discussion on my youtube with darchon25 and ninjalink. Basically instead of just tiering him we went over 10 attributes and scored each one out of 10. we have done others and are looking to do more with other people on. so if your interested hit me up on youtube. if you got any suggestion on how to structure or make these better let me know as iam still new to this podcast thing.

Hey guys, im new to magneto and I’m a pad player. Any tips on how to plink dash, general movement, tri dash magnetic blast, and grav loop? I can move decently and do fly combos and basic blast combos but I wanna step my game up.

How I plink dash is I use my thumb to hit M an H an do it rapidly this might not be as helpful but it works for me.
Tri dash magnetic blast is new to me.

Hyper grav loop, When the victim is caught by the grav buffer the superjump up to make it easier then you air dash down with air H then stand H( you want the stand H to look like its slapping the legs) follow that up with hypergrav L. Use L+M for the dash. For Nemesis after Hyper Grav do sjup adf M H land stand H as the standard version doesn’t work on him.


Changing the layout of buttons will help. I do type A layout with L2 as L+M and R2 as M+H
Hopefully some of this was useful. There is a lot of useful information on all pages of this thread and the combo thread with answers to questions you might not have and questions you do have.

I also use two OBDs: L2 as :m:+:h: and R2 as :l:+:m:. To plink dash, I do Circle into R2 (:h:~:l:+:m:). I’ve gotten used to this, but if you can’t get it down I believe X into R2 or Square into R2 is easier; you just have to remap R2 to accommodate. I tri dash with L2 (:m:+:h:) so I can easily tri dash :l:. I also use L2 for plink Mag Blasts, both the box dash and the tri dash versions.

L M H A1
s M+H S A2

I’ve tried a lot of configs and feel this is very strong for the characters I use. Left S my thumb for Zero while charging, top row allows charge switch, xfactor with left four buttons.Bold cancel stuff for dante on either side. fly loops mashing the OBD. plinking has to be done naturally though.

If you’re on pad, here’s the optimal magneto config:
L,M,H,S
A1,A2
L+M , M+H

and that should be all you need to play him perfectly on pad.

Some gross tech –
You know how you can cancel blockstun in the air with hypergrav and cancel the hypergrav into air tempest?
Well you can also cancel the hypergrav into a dash if you have 0 meter.

So yeah guys, cancel airblockstun into a 1frame throw (plinkdash OS throw or double tap the H after dash).

This is really strong against meaty setups that use chains that leave the opponent in grab range similar to when you decide to xfc cancel grab. The input I’m doing that I found most consistent is…

qcb+L > M+H > H

The second H has to be pressed right after the M+H for the throw to come out. I’m gonna test to see whether or not xfc grab baits like the ones wesker does end up causing an untechable grab in this situation as well.

I read the dash-cancel trick from Mixup’s post on the stream thread. I still haven’t found a way to cancel into dash even with meter. I read somewhere that maybe a frame-perfect two-button plink would work; don’t know if that’s true. I haven’t tried using a direction dash instead of a button dash, that might have potential as well. Although less probable, something related to the unfly input nullification glitch might make stuff work; it’s something I thought of but haven’t found the time to test yet. I can’t test right now; if you want to confirm or debunk stuff, please do.

I was the guy who speculated on the plink dash. The idea is to plink it on the frame that special canceling runs out. The engine might not even work that way.

Stick dashing won’t trigger the dash as the mechanic being abused is the button dash leniency. If you could do a regular ground special into stick dash then the mechanic could be used here but I don’t know of an engine feature allowing that.

I’m working on a programmable controller project so in the next week or so I should be able verify my idea on plink dash with meter.

edit: You can plink into dash on the frame after the special input window closes. Using a OBD button for the plink gives you more time, like 2 or 3 frames. Hard to do. worth practicing against specific setups like incoming though.

has anyone applied yet the thing where if you have no meter you can airblock input 2145 then another direction and ATK+ATK to airdash out of blockstun (if you have meter this gives you tempest out of blockstun)

I use the tempest version now and then. There are situations where it’s useful. Mostly to get magneto out of trouble.

It’s godlike if you have Mag/Vergil because of “instant” swords or Mag/Zero because… Zero.

The GuardCancel xx Shockwave punishes aren’t too good though, even though they’re possible, they’re “too hard”.
