The Ultimate Magnus Thread. The godlike stuff

I had such a hard time catching people and hitting them with anchor ammy but, sentinel doesn’t seem nearly as hard. This is a little off topic from mags but, is it just the people I’m playing against? Things I’m doing or not doing? What are the cases for ammy over sent when it comes to the getting hits department? During my time with ammy (basically all of ultimate until now) i constantly heard praises of anchor ammy but i so rarely saw it be effective. Even marlinpie rarely makes the comebacks against anyone half decent.

I am planning in the back of my mind that i’ll eventually switch to f champs team but im playing this team until i get my mag/doom to the point i want before i introduce someone new to learn.

A lot depends on which ammy stance you prefer. And all 3 are good. With reflector you can OS jHs with throw and confirm into qcf+H. She’s also got a slick dash under, quick overheads (box jump H even is sick in xf), and of course stance change options depending on the matchup.

Ammy is one of the hardest characters in the game. You really have to learn your shit and when to use each of her tools, or you will not do well at all. She’s one of those “thinking” characters. Marlinpie also made a bunch of comebacks at NEC with the dog. Due to the nature of doom ammy though, he tends to burn xfactor early, so that’s also a significant reason for why you don’t see many comebacks. The dog has an answer to everything basically. She has great matchups vs almost every popular anchor, and her size and throw range makes her difficult to approach. Paper negates a lot of pressure as well as counters, and jh in beads and sword stance are both amazing. You really just have to learn to use what tool. She has one of the fastest overhead games and one of the best throws, and her j. h in sword crosses up with ease. Slow keeps a lot of people from running. I could keep going on, but you really just need to learn to understand the character yourself.

Not saying you didn’t learn her, but if you are seriously unsure if she’s better than anchor sentinel, then you probably had room to improve because that’s certainly not true.

Yeah playing something like Magneto/Dante/Sentinel or Magneto/Doom/Vergil is also a gateway into playing Dante/Vergil/Magneto as a B team which is also pretty busted as long as you survive the start of the round gambit. I’m pretty sure most people who play one of these teams have dabbed a bit into the other two.

Whats good strategy for anchor mags other than throws, trijumps, and magnet blasts?

The addf plink Magnetic Blasts are actually really good for solo Mags. I’m not a big fan of them for point Mags but solo Mags really enjoys the extra pressure approach. I play solo Mags really zone-heavy since you can’t just yolo it out, you gotta pick your spots or you’re gonna get blown up.

Any major differences between light medium and heavy magnetic blast?
Wich one should i do after an addf?

Yeah I think Mags/Doom/Ammy works much better than Doom/Sentinel due to Ammy being a much more complete character than sentinel

Light comes out the fastest but the actual blast is slower.

Heavy comes out slowest but the blast travels faster.

You should be doing the plink :u::uf::f::df: :m:+:h: ~:l: . I never actually bothered to learn it since I play pad but I’m just starting to practice it yesterday. Shit is hard.

that is what i was looking for

Got YLOD’d :frowning:

Hmm, is IAD Magnetic Blast only possible with :m:+:h: dash? I plink dash with :l:+:m: so I wanted to see if 8963LM~L was possible.

Hmm, M+H is mandatory as fuck. It is the backbone of the brotherhood. it is Magneto’s strongest asset (surpassing drones), granting you speed boast, salty ass niggas, and many other perks. without it… you will not survive.

Damn. Gotta manually do that input then…on pad. ladjlkjwelfjwelf

I do it with L and M, so I don’t know why people are saying you can’t.

EDIT: Though for fastest timing you should do M+H, but using L+M hits crossups easier for me. Depends on whether you want to get it on screen as fast as possible, or use it as a mixup.

Just do whatever you feel comfortable with. You’ll get better with it with more practice, I do it without plinking and I’m on point with it(Joker doesn’t plink too). Another thing that’s important to note that if you plink it you also have to learn to input the boxdashbackward magnetic blasts without the plink method too, so might as well learn the normal way. (Plinking is essential for tridash blasts, but I think tridash blasts are ass in half the matchups anyway)

Agree… Plinking isn’t needed (IMO) I find just dashing with m+h and then doing blast works best because when u plink for a cross up it comes out so fast that it’s sometimes hard to hit a confirm off of it.

other.

I like this a lot but if they tech the other way that mixup won’t work… Try , right after the last heavy u call assist dash to the other side then do attraction so that if they tech any way they will end up in the mixup  should work very well. Lmk, too bad I didn’t put any time into Dante he’s just so so. GODLIKE lol

I guess you can get away with that shit in lower level play. M+H provides more than just plinking mag blast. telling someone to use M+L~L is…

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried when I went to the lab. sigh, to bad I use Jam/Drones.

but there’s a lot of sick shit with Jam too.

we like watching Iron Man. >:(

Any of U guys play online on xbox?
