RayRay is, to me, the best Magnus right now. Everybody else is still adapting, he’s on that shit already. And his sentinel is ridiculous.
I completely agree. Even Fanatiq’s and Marlinpie’s Magnetos look outdated but RayRay’s Magneto is just like FUCK THE NERFS.
Yea, its not even close imo. Fanatiq is still pretty good, but I was a little disappointed by his Mags during the last WNF. Rayray’s Magneto looks just as good or even better than it did in Vanilla
I trust that Fanatiq will adapt soon, he just needs to upgrade from those low damage fly loops. In vanilla, you didn’t have to optimize a midscreen combo damage-wise because they all corner-carried and you could just go into 4+ Hyper Grav Loops to make up for the damage but since they nerfed the reps, everyone should be aiming for 520k+ meterless fullscreen BnBs (not accounting for corner loop extension), especially since the overall individual character damage has been increased in Ultimate.
I’m unsure if I wanna change my team (Magneto/Vergil/Wesker) to Magneto/Vergil/Sentinel.
Magneto benefits from Vergil’s rapid slash either way, plus wesker can OTG and set up unblockables.
Then again, with Drones, I can go make a sandwich and still have time for a high/low mix-up.
I’d run Vergil on point on either team. Vergil gets more mileage out of EMD than Magneto does from any of Vergil’s assists, DT Rapid Slash is alot stronger as an assist than non-DT, and Dimension Slash > Magnetic Tempest is a pretty strong DHC.
The Wesker team is probably stronger as a whole but the Sentinel one will augment your Magneto more.
I finally got the Alioune loop down and can do it online rather consistently. Shit is so fucking future.
I’ve been running Vergil, Wesker, Mags recently. Basically EMD assist, teleports for both Vergil and Wesker. Pretty good ground control. For air, Vergil and Wesker both have easy combos off of air grabs into resets. I actually feel like Mags is the weakest link. Typically I’ll tag him in if I can’t finish the job with Wesker, so i have access to OTG assist for Mag’s into tempest, let Wesker heal up a bit, then use Dark Wesker.

The only thing about the Vergil/Mags/Wesker team I don’t like…
Zero… that character more or less shits on that whole team when he has a good assist behind him
I am unsure of what Zero doesn’t shit on besides Taskmaster. I still think Doom is better than Magneto on that team since Plasma Beam actually allows for combo extensions unlike EMD since the rape of assist hit stuns.
Magneto basically has no place on your team outside of character loyalty. Dr. Derp can do everything Magneto can do, only better (for the most part).
But yeah, Estaka assist is a decent beam for general use but for combo extensions, it’s worthless. My Vanilla team got fucked hard with the assist nerfs
What are the inputs for this combo
I wanna talk about something that was in that Japanese telop video but I have yet to see used… air dash magnetic blast.
I feel like we could certainly find good uses for this, as the magnetic blast is released low to the ground (if done at the right height) and hits them just before you land. It is also +22 on block so you have plenty of time to start your mix-ups before they recover from blockstun.
The motion is :u::uf::f: ( :df: or :df::d: depending on where you wanna dash) +:h:~:l: for :l: magnetic blast
so it’s just a plink dash?

I Just picked up magneto yesterday. what method are you guys using for the tri-dash short ? When i try to do piano :l::h: … nothing comes out… like you can hear it but it doesn’t hit or when i try :h: :l: all you hear is heavy whiffing.Any tips ?
I ran a 3 point char team in Vanilla too, all of whom got nerfed - Mag, Dante, Wesker. I agree Mag’s is there for loyalty, and also comfort. I never played Doom and when I try him, he feels weird. Between Doom and Mag anchoring, I actually know what to do with Mag. Also EMD prorates the damage way less than Plasma Beam. I just hate missing m.blast combos online.
The reason you hear it and don’t see is because you’re not high enough in the air after addf. Wait til Mag is at the peak of his jump then do this (Just a recommendation you don’t have follow):

The HSD on assists really fucked with EMD, it has lost most of its combo uses aside from starting them combined with teleport characters
You can go straight into st.S into MMHS or st.H xx Hyper Grav into grav loop if they’re cornered. If you didn’t start with cLMHS and instead started with HS, I’d say go for jMH Magnetic Blast L, land st.S sjxx MMHS but it seems rather inconsistent when the HSD starts fucking with it.
I actually don’t think Doom is better than Magneto on point, but he definitely got easier to use. In vanilla, I couldn’t really do his combos for shit but due to the longass time you have to convert after a j.S hard knockdown, the Clockwork/ShadyK loop is derp easy as long as you know how to tri-dash. Magneto’s mixup game is stronger and their damage outputs are comparable, it’s just that Doom edges him out in assist contribution and has the random factor of hitting you with an expected j.S that always converts to 500k+.
