If you want a nice extension with disruptor assist here’s what Airborne told me:

The best time to use that is after web swing MMS imo because the extension can’t be used later in the combo.

Yeah, see that’s a problem for me. I’d end up using my ground bounce way too early and probably won’t be able to do as much afterwards as I would if I just didn’t use it. Disruptor is pretty much only a neutral assist for Spidey, and while it helps it’s not necessary for him.

It’s really not that early for the ground bounce. Here’s the full combo that I use:

Hmm, ok I guess I misunderstood what you meant earlier. That’s a little better, but why do you bring up TACs/resets? Is that the only thing you can do after that?

No you can also do another web throw into MS or crouching H xx L sting xx CA. With my team, spidey/mags/doom, i can go for a cool UWT setup where i hit them with H while calling missiles then i do UWT. If it catches them then one missile gets out and you can do L web throw right after the UWT animation cuz that one missile hits. If they hit you out the missiles will hit them and if they throw you the missiles stop most characters from getting a combo.

EDIT: I completely forgot to mention this, if I am close enough in the corner I can dash up and do a spider-sting~bite to get on the other side and then call missiles to get 2 more web throws.

Yeah, that can be a good setup. Also, if you’re afraid of the opponent hitting you, web throw to corner into backdash H xx UWT puts you at the maximum range so you cover all air techs and can’t get hit out by normals. However, like most UWT setups it doesn’t stop airdash/double jump characters from getting out of it and some characters can even get out with a vertical traveling air move(Spider-Man can actually get out of his own setups using air H web ball, lol).

Yeah you just gotta be careful which characters you try UWT resets on. You should only really try it on characters that have no air options

i’m getting pretty good on this new spidey combo and I feel like it changes his team builds because the damage output is pretty high with really easy extenders. You don’t need missiles or dante that much anymore. I feel like you can almost use any top tier helper as long as it gives you extenders to kick that damage over a mil

I wanted to see what people though about spidey\coon\xxx. If you’re good on the spidey web throw loop, you can kill for 1 bar while buidling one. Then you can tag into coon, boulder, land mine, tag spidey back in, unblockable\guaranteed guard break. It MIGHT be the closest thing to an mvc2 loop so far for spidey. the whole trick is to kill them in the corner but that’s not very hard to do with him.

log trap or twice shot for assist?
if you can do the web throw loop 10\10, does it give spidey access to more team chemistry options?

Wait, explain that RR setup. What makes it guaranteed? The way you described it, the setup uses 2 raw tags which takes up quite a bit of time. Also, RR’s unblockable setup relies on the opponent having no air options, just like Spidey’s UWT resets. Can’t most top tier characters just air dash out of there?

Edit: Nvm, you don’t have to answer that. I went into training mode myself and figured it out. You can DHC immediately after the kill into Mad Hopper, rocket skates xx boulder trap then hard tag Spidey back in ASAP so he can get a :m: web throw out for the incoming character. If they block, they eat the unblockable. I’ve messed with stuff like this before, but that specific setup is pretty legit. Only issues I’m seeing right now are that the window for the web throw is tight and I can’t think of a good 3rd character for that duo. Dante?

Also, I’ve been testing out the Spidey/Magneto/Doom team for the past week or so. I’d say THAT is a flowchart team if I ever saw one. The web throw loop with that team makes unavoidable 300%s possible(and without it you can still just TAC for a 66% chance of the same thing). I’m still not sure if it’s worth it to run disruptor though (I’ve come up with some pretty cool uses for it, but they are all very situational and end up limiting Spidey’s combo follow-up possibilities a little).

Is there a reason why not many people use Dr. Strange as a partner for Spider-Man? DHC synergy is pretty good, and Bolts must be a good pressure tool

It’s not a bad partnership. I think it’s just one of those duos people don’t like to put together for whatever reason. Spidey/Doom/Strange is a very solid team. But I guess since both Spidey and Strange can do better on other teams, it hurts the possibility of seeing someone run them.

What would you guys say are the top 5 best teams for Spiderman?
One is obvious.

I disagree with number 1. I just don’t see the synergy between Spidey and Vergil besides an extra web throw in the corner. Rapid slash is neither fast nor is it all that easy to convert off of and it doesn’t give spider-man any vertical coverage.
I’m not sure what the top 5 best spidey teams are but I’ll give a list of which teams I think are better than Spider-man/Doom/Vergil:
Spidey/Mags/Dante
Spidey/Mags/Doom
Spidey/Dorm/Doom
Spidey/Doom (beam)/Strider
Spidey/Dorm/Akuma
Spidey/Iron Man/Doom
Hell I think even Spidey/Dante/Akuma could be a better team but I’ve never seen anyone use it so I’m not sure.
Even though the DHC guardbreak tech is somewhat of a gimmick, I think it should still not be overlooked. I might be biased because the second and fourth teams are teams that I use, but I use them because I think they are very strong teams.

When you have missiles as an assist, you need to have some other assist for the neutral game because spider-man can’t properly protect Missiles and I just don’t think rapid slash is going to cut it. It’s too slow for him and spider-man doesn’t throw out enough durability for it to be somewhat protected and safe.

Number one team will be any team that can fully utilize Spidey’s potential with little sacrifice. At the moment that team is still Spidey Dorm Doom. Any hit is able to turn into death pretty much and they all work well together. After that would probably be Spidey Mags Doom/Dante followed by Spidey Dante Hawkeye.

The whole thing is opinionated though as no one reaches for a teams full potential instead of the brain dead shit.

IMO Spidey/Dorm/Doom is sort of a false shepherd. The way it makes you approach the game is ultimately not good because you end up overlooking the fundamental stuff that makes a team competitive. It sounds good and plays well at first, but when you run into a team that actually has neutral assists it becomes hard to do what you want. I had a lot of success with that team online since very few people used the right neutral assists and I could basically go in and do whatever with Spidey knowing that any hit would kill the first character and bring in Dormammu with Stalking Flare so I can do more flowchart zoning the rest of the time. It’s a good team, but not a good Spidey team imo since Spidey is providing more support for Dorm than the other way around(you’re likely to never use Spidey again after the first combo into Dorm). Any character with a proper neutral assist made the team look pathetic, since Spidey is essentially going in solo aside from the situational missiles call. I’m liking Spidey/Mags/Dante for number 1 since it actually gives Spidey neutral and it’s the first Spidey team I’ve used where I felt going for resets is worth it(I’ve found ways for Spidey use JS the same way I used Cold Star for layered mixups, I can use it for UWT resets to make them safe, and both Magneto and Dante have air-tight resets of their own). It’s got tons of cheap tech and most importantly it makes Spidey better at scoring hits which I’m starting to realize is ultimately more important than damage in this game(ironically you were the one who originally argued this to me Xero).

See that’s why Spidey Dorm Doom will sit at number one. It’s not reset heavy meaning less gimmicks to rely on, it has various ways to approach that can be changed up on and takes things from other neutral based teams. Still have access to guard breaks and Dorm still has plenty of use with Spidey which if you played the team you should already understand that. Dorm can also switch Spidey in there just the same as Spidey can get Dorm in. You just get more overall for Spidey using that team as opposed to others. Don’t get number one mixed up with ease of use they don’t go hand in hand.

Hello Spidey thread.

I’m trying to get my brother to play Marvel with me but he’s pretty picky about characters. His favorite character seems to be Spider-Man, but I’m pretty ignorant on his optimized team besides the MameSpider Spidey / Doom / Vergil. Unfortunately he’s not a big Doom fan. Other characters he’s interested are Wolverine, Akuma, Vergil and Morrigan. I was wondering if there was a Spider-Man team in there with synergy, seeing as it’s highly unlikely he’ll play without one.

I’ve seen Spidey / Akuma discussion, and Spidey / Vergil discussion, but I’m pondering what third character I stick in there that he would like, that is unfortunately not Doom.

Resets are not gimmicks if they are strong enough. Some of the strongest characters in this game have no answer for a proper UWT setup, and for everyone else there’s the assist tech glitch with JS. Also keep in mind that most of the airdash characters who can escape have low enough health that a simple BnB into DHC will kill them, so even non-optimal combo extenders will do the job. Spidey/Dorm/Doom has many ways of getting damage, but it’s no team Nemo. It still has the same problems killing from throws and scaled starters that every Spidey team has. While Spidey can always provide a CC or anti-air DHC for Dorm, there are only a couple situations where putting Spidey back in is the best course of action for the team. With Spidey/Mags/Dante putting Spidey back in is a part of it’s synergy. Mags having the option of getting a guaranteed guardbreak using Spidey is better than anything Dorm can get from him(and I’m including Dorm’s guard break which is not only much more difficult but not a guaranteed kill like Magneto’s). I’m having trouble understanding how Dorm/Doom helps Spidey more when the one thing they don’t help him do is score a hit, which if Spidey can’t do makes the benefits irrelevant. If not having to do resets is all you’re looking for, then Doom/Ammy also provides good damage options and uses of meter while providing a better assist for opening the opponent up.

See the only ones who feel it doesn’t help score a hit are the ones who have problems opening people up to begin with. Everything you keep saying the team does. With the exception of the grab glitch all UWT resets can be escaped period. Again with Dorm backed by Spidey, one you should be using Web swing, it gives you left right still and makes block strings better than his other two assists and increases Dorms output damage overall. Plus web swing catches people trying to get in and pushes them back out but don’t think I’m saying that it’s better than a beam. Throws scale yes we know, yet if I have the meter I can kill or have various ways to TAC, obviously not guaranteed, but unexpected all the same. Very few teams that support Spidey get that option without the opponent already being hurt.
