The ULTIMATE, Friendly-Neigborhood, Spider-man Team-building Thread

You shouldn’t be having too much trouble against Wolvy, just space him out then use wall jumps and up zips while smartly calling assists. He will eventually get punished for chasing your character around too much. Spider sting is really good but be wary of plasma beam assist calls.

I appreciate it. I will have to be more aware of the way I play vs Wolvie to see. Either way it is good advice. This guy isn’t exactly a run of the mill Wolvie though. In fact once he starts traveling I think he is going to be a high level killer.

The problem is also that since we play all of the time, he knows how to fight Spider-Man.

Also the other problem is when I kill Wolvie he usually finds a way to bring in Wesker and play Wesker backed by plasma beam. Normally his Wesker isn’t an issue for my Spider-man but beam makes it harder. Also his Wesker is really solid.

I will have to remember all of your guys advice here though and see if I can add that to my game, if I have not been already. Much appreciated

I’ve come to appreciate my matches versus wolverine. Well that plus I’ve been talking to wolverine master a lot more . The ability to plink dash also helps and if you can can get a feel of when he is going to jump over web balls or in general having a buffered ultimate web throw never hurts either.

Can someone elaborate more about the spidy/akuma synergy?
And that hard tag thing with dante too.

I was hopping to run spidy/im/akuma as in spidy get corner, tac, kill, unblockable -》profit

I’ve been thinking of running Spidey(Web Swing)/Dante(Jam Session)/Strange(Bolts).

I used to copy Mame Spider’s team, but I’m not dedicated enough to those characters. Would Spidey/Dante/Strange or Spidey/Strange/Dante be decent enough?

I think the order is highly if you can get any kind of fof setup for two bars. I like the spidy/dante/strange better

I’ve talked until I’m blue in the face about this synergy, so I’d rather not go into full discussion about how good it is right now. Instead, I recommend reading the OP of this thread where I had detailed the synergy a while back, although it’s not updated to say everything that the duo is capable of. I also recommend going to Kookymanus’s Youtube channel and watching a few of my awful (I can’t execute a damn thing online half of the time… especially with my movement -_- matches from the Spidey 360 lobby since those seem to be the only source of Spidey-Akuma footage in the past year. I believe I first pop up in part 9, the 4/21/13 matches.

It depends: would you value Jam Session or Bolts as the more significant asset? Are you more comfortable with Strange with Jam Session assist or Dante with Bolts?

It works either way because both characters have nice DHC opportunities after Maximum Spider but simultaneously bring separate tech to the table. Off of Maximum Spider at the end of a combo, you have the option of going into Devil Trigger (I think the most optimal combo I found was Million Carats j.:s: Cold Shower-> Stinger xx Bold Cancel Teleport j.:s: Thunder Bolt Loop (QCF :s: in the air… I think that’s what it’s called), but there could very well be something better) or straight into Spell of Vishanti with Strange and then into Devil Trigger for some fun stuff.

Now for the differences, Dante brings a safe DHC to the table for Spidey, while Strange gives Spidey a happy birthday starter on two separate levels; DHC’ing from Crawler Assault to Spell of Vishanti and then XFC’ing it is always a good option, as is 7 Rings when drowning in mass projectile mayhem from devious shells like Morridoom (which is awesome because 7 Rings becomes entirely nonpunishable when Strange successfully counters a projectile and Doom will take at least 500k damage).

Dante can also be raw tagged into during Spidey’s combos for nice extension, so having him on the back may mess with your team order in that case.

tl;dr The team works perfectly fine run in either order; I have a friend who is running Viper/Strange/Dante and does well with it so it’s whatever floats your boat.

Edit: Forgot to mention off of raw Maximum Spider DHC’s: Strange can set up FoF loops while Dante gets silly combos while in Devil Trigger.

Edit Edit: http://www.youtube.com/user/kookymanus is the youtube channel to find footage of my horrid online matches.

Yeah my friends have been telling me that Strange anchor is good. I’ve never played the character till today. Weird playing a flight character with no air dashes.

Also, thanks for the info Airborne. I’ll look at the matches. I wanted to know if Jam Session hitting the opponent makes Spidey’s only option to do Web Throw into Maximum Spider.

I was going to use Hawkeye, but I honestly hate how little damage he does and I can’t zone for crap. I see there’s some synergy with Spidey/Nova and I kind of want to run Spidey/Nova/Doom. The problem is that I pretty much depend on Hidden Missiles, so I’m not sure if this team has any real lock down assist. Does anybody here know if Nova Strike is worth using as a comboextender/“get off me”/lockdown assist? It causes a little wall bounce and you can follow up with a light web throw afterwards. Also when they are in mid air after the nova strike hits Spiderman can web ball/web zip in and essentially catch them for a full combo.

Thoughts?

Spidey/Nova seems like an interesting team. I was kind of hoping Xero would make a video covering the synergy between them, like he did with IM, GR and Akuma… x)

I was taking request but then finals came around and now I’m getting ready to leave island. I have to finish recording spidey/frank/xx teams

Synergy is my jurisdiction. Xero didn’t even dent the Akuma stuff, and he hates Nova too much to talk about that. ;O

What is your yt channel?
(If it in your signature, I can"t see it in the mobile version)

Boy stop  Spidey doesn’t have all that much with Akuma. Outside of juggle potential in the corner for a web throw to the corner, and tick throw setups, and IOH setups, Akuma becomes increasingly less useful as combos go on. He’s meant to be used to get in, pairing up a better combo extender with him is pretty much a must unless you can guarantee inescapable resets.

Nova on the other hand I haven’t played with but I know he has some extenders for Spidey after web throws in the corner.

Dhc’s are meh, combo extender is meh. Assist provides almost nothing to spider-man. So yeah…

Thanks for the reply, Z. Looking forward to your spidey/frank video, and hopefully I’ll get to see a spidey/nova one after that. Please overcome your hate on Nova, lol!

Are you talking about Spidey/Nova or Spidey/Akuma?

Spidey/nova.

Well I can’t really argue with that because I haven’t tried learning this team yet. It would be a shame if you’re right though, Spidey (costume #6) and Nova (#4) look really cool, haha.

Its mainly the assist extention. Spidey doesn’t struggle for damage, but he needs assists to get that big damage. The are many assists that can help him get that, its just that some are a lot harder and more work than others.

Nova doesn’t have a problem extending for Spidey. Most of Spidey’s extensions really just include an extra web throw. It’s other assist that excel above that bar that make those extensions so much better. As for Nova he’s a good finisher to a Spidey combo as he can extend for him then tag back in to complete the combo. Unfortunately depending on the assist you choose they are all fairly limited when applying to certain aspect of Spidey’s game. Honestly, I’d choose the overhead assist as it extends combos, and sets up unblockables, though I have seen others use his wall bounce assist. Also I don’t hate Nova, I just don’t play him.
