I decided to drop Dante because I honestly didn’t feel like learning him. Jam Session is good but his DHC options are terrible so now I want to go back to my old pairing of Spiderman/Ryu back in MVC 1 and 2.
Does Spiderman/Ryu have decent synergy? I also run Doom, so I’m not sure if I would go Spiderman/Ryu/Doom or Spiderman/Doom/Ryu.
Yes, I realize Akuma is clearly the better option for Spiderman but I don’t really want to use him because I don’t really like Akuma as a character. But if Spiderman/Ryu sounds terrible then I’ll use Akuma if I have to.
I’m not seeing why people say certain characters have bad DHC synergy with Spidey when they don’t. Crawler assault DHC’s cleanly into Million Dollars. Maximum Spider DHC’s into Devil Trigger with a spinning state for him to combo off of and either kill or su do have et up reset situations. They are very good together with very strong DHC synergy. I can understand not wanting to learn Dante. I’ve been putting that off for a while until recently.
Spidey and Ryu do have synergy together. Not as much as Akuma but it’s still there. I feel your team would be better with Akuma on it since I feel he’d be able to take advantage of missiles better but that’s my opinion.
Skrull stone smite is one of the best combo extenders for spidey. Sentinel would make a great anchor cause drones is probably skrull’s best assist (unless you’re fighting morri). strange bolts, doom plasma beam and task arrows too.
So I was definitely considering switching teams a couple weeks back. But I really hit my stride with this team. There was a tournament in Denver this weekend and I took 2nd place. I even had a lot of moments where Rocket Raccoon clutched the set for me in the last game. I really like this team and I feel it is the right one for me. I just gotta make sure I am ready for EVO.
Nice job Bees! I agree I think your current team has a lot of synergy and really makes people respect the log since you can convert off of it from pretty much anywhere. Plus you can get some really nice combos with either assist. I used to run Spidey/Iron Fist (rising fang)/Doom (missiles) a while ago, and it worked really well with spider-man on point, but I let go of Iron fist because once spidey was done, Iron Fist couldnt do much. I think it was a bit similar to your current team because I had missiles and a wall bounce assist that covers a lot of space. The only difference is that you really know how to put in work with the raccoon, where as I didn’t know what I was doing with I.F. The other team that you were considering was Spidey/Doom/Strider right? I think that is a really nice team too (It’s my main team) but I think what you have with Spidey/Doom/Raccoon is too nice to let go. If you weren’t that great with Raccoon then it might be another story, but since you can get real comebacks with him the team composition works out really well.
So you’re planning to go to EVO? Sounds awesome.
Oh, and were any matches recorded at the tournament?
Thanks Desk, I really appreciate it. The stream was recorded but it is really pixelated because the connection at the venue was awful.
I could link some of them here but it will be hard to tell what is going on most of the time.
Edit: I talked to the TO and he might have some of my stream matches saved to the computer that wouldn’t be pixelated. He is going to check and if he has any I think he is going to upload them.
That’s a shame that most of the stream was most of the stream was messed up due to bad connection. Thanks for going through the trouble so we can watch some of those games, It would be nice to see some of them, especially the grand finals. I’m just curious, how many people entered the tournament?
I think it was somewhere between 20-25 entrants I cant remember exactly though. Also I did terrible in Grand Finals. I was already nervous a lot on stream but I choked in Grand Finals and lost 3-1 to a player who has won every marvel tournament we had in the last year.
The guy I went up against is also my training partner and I lose to him all of the time in casuals as well. I think I let the anxiety of that plus the pressure of playing on the livestream get to me. I just have to make sure I can do better next time. Either way, thanks. XD
He runs Wolvie/Doom(Beam)/Wesker. Wolvie always gives me a hard time. I don’t understand how he is only the best character for the first 10 seconds because for me, he is the hardest character to fight against no matter how long the game is going on. I guess it could be Wolvie beam that is that hard though.
Sounds like you are spending way too much time on the ground putting yourself in situations where you are forced to block/guess. While I understand the threat of drill claw xx dive kick you want to take in the air and be ready to fight from the air. The moment you block a beam you have to wait for wolverine to make a mistake. At the same time if you get pressured into a corner it’s the same thing plus the fear of unblockables
I will have to pay attention to my tendencies next time I play him(Which will most likely be soon because we play most days of the week)
I also have a hard time avoiding throws so I usually try avoiding staying in the air too much. It is just that insane rush down makes it hard to do anything, or so it feels like. Regardless I will try being in the air more. Also I need to not drop kill combos with Rocket Raccoon out of nerves. That lost me at least one match in Grand Finals.
Oh trust me I understand what you’re saying. I have a high tendency to want to defend against everything. While this does increase your defense it makes you susceptible to other things. Once I isolated that issue I realized I was becoming more susceptible to air throws but then I started defending against that a lot better by recognizing when it would come which in turn also improved my runaway as I so had to also pay more attention to left right mixups upon landing.
It’s just a bit of advice you may already be doing it but I thought I’d offer all the same.
