I’ve been using Spider with Hsien-ko and MODOK and it’s been hilarious.
I put Spidey on point and cover him with MODOK beam assist. Once I have two meters, I land a Maximum Spider, DHC into Hsien-ko’s armor, relaunch from the end of the Maximum Spider, Air tag back to Spidey and swing into another Maximum Spider if I need it. If I miss the relaunch, I just hard tag to MODOK and frustrate the opponent’s with his range and the Hsien-ko assist. Such a fun team.
I’m not sure whether to pick up Iron Man or Dr Strange as my anchor. Currently play Spidey(a)/Thor(b)/Arthur(b), but I need an alternate for Arthur
Both of them can extend Thors combos. And xero, I know you’ve found some good spidey/IM combos. But Dr. Strange seems like he is better suited as an anchor, and I can still get 1 web throw + MS after a zip OTG with Eye of Agamotto. I originally picked arthur because I wanted at least one derp character that could just chip the opponent out if it came down to that, but I feel that the combo potential, and the ability to hold the opponent in the corner with these assists is too good to pass up. Thoughts?
I wouldn’t go as far to say that Dr Strange is 100% better than Iron Man, but Dr Strange is far easier to pick up than Iron Man. Iron Man is proving to take *tons *more work than almost any character in the game, so much I may have to become known as “that one Iron Man player” for a while instead of “one of those Spidey players”, lol.
It also appears that since no one is really repping IM besides Alukard that we, the Spidey players, may have to do a lot of innovating on our own. Life’s hard.
I’m an old iron man user but I never really was much of strange fan. I am looking for another character as anchor though besides Doom. Spidey has the potential to hit for over 900k with most assist in the game. Over a mill with some and that’s all with one or two bars using only one assist
I’m itching to put Felicia and Spiderman on the same team, however I can’t help but feel how terribly weak they would be together. Both of them need some sort of lock down assist or beam assist to help with the pressure and once that third person is killed they they don’t have much to help each other.
You can run my team! ;D Nova is a grown-ass man with some grown-ass man damage and INSANE mix-ups. His assist is also an unblockable setup, an indefinite ground bounce when the opponent is aerial, and it’s perfect for Iron Man, who prefers a mid range assist. The main issue I see with Iron Man being in the middle of my team is that it’s hard to DHC with him if I don’t have the opponent in the corner; I have to cancel Proton Cannon before the last hit, and that’s a freakin’ nuisance.
EDIT: Cerei, you can make it happen; just get a character with a strong space-controlling assist that can anchor well. Good examples would be Taskmaster, Hawkeye, Doom, Magneto, etc.
They can actually help each other quite a bit:
Run the team as Felicia/Spidey/Anchor
-You should be able to DHC Dancing Flash into Maximum Spider
-Web swing assist is incredible for a mid-range assist, since landing a clean with it, provides EASY pick-ups. Call it while doing a normal block string, but cancel into Cat & Mouse for the neato left-right mixup.
-If you end up with Felicia in the middle with Spider-man after your DHC, the second hit of Rolling Buckler counts as a low-hitting attack, or you can now use Sand Splash to OTG, due to its new buff. Hell, you could possibly even use the Cat Spike assist just to ground bounce aerial opponents for an easy pick up
-This would be a funny idea: Maximum Spider, DHC to Kitty Helper, and while they’re falling, start EX Charging for free meter gain, then Toy Touch when they hit the ground for that nice mix-up. It wouldn’t be much (maybe about 480 or so since it takes about 2 seconds for them to hit the ground, depending on the height), but meter is meter!
Interesting, but my point still stands. If my anchor dies early due to a plethora of nonsense in this game, I can’t see them putting up much of a fight against that can control the stcreen well. All of your ideas are really only applicable at close range and Spiderman, if I’m correct, can be knocked out of webswing rather easily.
Lol, my post became a scrunch. If you’re worried about screen control from the anchor dying, you can always try out Web Ball as an assist, with Sand Splash for Felicia’s. Web Ball puts the opponent in an aerial state, which will allow an airborne Delta Kick to ground bounce the opponent. Sand Splash hits OTG and is a 3 durability point attack which isn’t *too *bad as an assist with 42 frames of startup.
Yeah, I freakin’ realized it when I Webbed someone while calling Nova’s Centurion Rush assist. Nearly flipped my shit for half a second LOL… Hmm, that gives me some crazy ideas for a combo video. 7 MORE DAYS ARGHHHHH
Would you consider Skrull’s Tendizer as a good space controlling assist? Right now I mainly use it for lock-down, crossup, and a nifty UWT reset all done with Spiderman.
Hmmm… Good question. The only issue I have with Tenderizer is that it appears to have a blind spot on the ground right under his fists. I think Orbital Grudge would be a better assist to use because it not only has some space control, it has super armor and can knock the opponent down. That’s a sort of thing that I would have to attempt to apply myself before I could give a straight answer. Tenderizer is outstanding when it comes to locking an incoming opponent down, while Orbital Grudge sorta looks like a mini-Lariat.
Damn. I keep forgetting to check. Does web ball assist still not let them tech? Considering running him with Wesker and was thinking web ball assist and edge would make for a decent reset. At least when they patch out that grab teching nonsense.
