im gonna disagree with you on Dr. Strange phantasy, no disrespect. I find that Strange volts assist helps keep Spider Man in pressure mode and if used right can be and extender for Spidey too. Also Strange with Arrow assist is damn good for his teleport game. The only thing i dont like about that team personally (Spidey/Strange/Hawk), is if spidey goes down and you’re fighting a rush down team, your Strange and Hawkeye game better be tight b/c Strange normals are sub par compared to rest of cast, but x factor Strange and Hawkeye are no slouch.
in general hawk would be a better second member (safe dhc out instead of spell of vishanti is my priority) and there’s a good amount of spiderman/hawkeye tricks (check out my post on the first page). strange in general is a sub par character in this game, i feel like he needs a team focused around him to really do work, otherwise he’s relegated to an assist character with his unique assists.
he’s sub par in every slot, first second and third. if you put him second, you’re looking for a dhc punish to xf1 kill, which isn’t that bad, but it’s a limited option because he doesn’t offer much else in that slot
yeah, i see your point. i can agree with you on the fact that if spidey is in trouble the only way out is combo dhc and not a raw dhc. But i have a problem phantasy, im Avenger (before the movie hype), i using them on a team, but i ran Spidey/Strange/Iron Man for a hot minute, and the chemistry was semi there but i was having problems getting spidey out, so I dropped him from that duo of Spidey/Iron Man. Currently browsing the roster of Avengers on the game for better chemistry. So far Spidey, Nova, Iron Man has done me wrong so far.
Note at all. Problems you may have though is that strange isn’t easy to play and he doesn’t have a safe tag option. Strange’s supers work well with MS since it DHCs well and can counter moves that beat MS (dive kick, meaties, projectiles). I don’t like EoA as his assist to extend combos because it scales your damage really hard. I’d prefer bolts with him with your other char having a combo extending assist, unless your anchor is Magneto/Doom beam.
in terms of avengers, im not a fan of playing hulk, but spidey/hulk/whoever (probably sentinel or another good neutral assist, or vergil lol) is not that bad. hulk (gamma wave) gives access to extra web throws and gamma crush dhc for big damage, and hulk w/ drones is solid
Hello Spider fans, I’m fairly new to shoryuken (lurker turned poster from all this wonderful wealth of information), but I read through this whole thread, and I’ve been wanting to try out Spidey/Nova/whoever(akuma for now) and I’ve seen Airborne post about how great spidey and nova are together, but I’ve yet to see any real explanation as to why there are so good together.
I’d love to see an explanation, but what ive been working with so far has been Spidey(web ball) /Cap (shield slash) / Akuma (tatsu). After reading through this thread im definitely interested in spidey/nova/hawkeye or spidey/hulk/whoever but i really love Nova as a character and would love to try and make it work, i just need some ideas on how they work together because im really at a loss. anyway any help would be most appreciated! Thanks guys you inspire so much to play spidey expecially you xero, NM represent!!!
well nova’s centurion rush m assist works for any character with decent mobility and fast/long reaching low attack and can be used as a combo assist. in general it’s pretty good. other than that there’s nothing specific i see (other than multiple great color matchings)
airborne is the one who posts the most about it.
i would suggest drones as the third for that team tbh

Spidey/Nova/Doom is what I really want to play, but I’m worried about lacking an OTG assist ala Wesker’s shot. I can use Doom missiles for web throw pickups, but other than that… I’m wondering if it’s worth sacrificing the close-range otg for a character I really enjoy. Thoughts?
Spiderman has a close-range OTG, you do a :l: Web Swing xx :df: Web Zip cancel super fast and it should work out.
I will always say missiles aren’t for Spidey. People always disagree but Spidey/Dorm/Missiles is a dormammu team with Spidey as point. It always will be imo. It’s pretty difficult for Spidey to protect missiles and even when he does he’s better off something else. Missiles almost always ends up being used for Combo extension and in a team with Dark hole he doesn’t need two combo extension assists. I’m using Spidey/Dorm/Mags right now with Distruptor and I’ve been getting some good results. Disruptor is a really snipe tool for killing there assists. Missiles and Drones will die to my disruptor assist which I think is something that’s more important for Parker. Also I can hit confirm off of all of my Disruptor mixups. It’s not a hard as people make it seem to convert off of disruptor. And to top it off, in my opinion level 3 x factor magneto is a better character than x factor level 3 doom.
The hard part is when spider dies I’ll have too actually learn how to use Dormammu. haha Dormammu with Missiles is pretty braindead but without an assist like that you really have to be good with the character.
I love dorm now, So i will never drop Spidey/Dorm anymore. I really really like magneto so I doubt I’ll drop him either. This may be my end game team. It’s all based on Spider-man with 2 other REALLY good characters that support him really well and are super strong on their own…Exactly what i’ve always wanted.
Now time to level up my dorm and mags so their up to par with my Spidey.
Missiles work mainly as a combo extender but can work as a neutral pseudo lockdown. You just have to do SJ height assist calls. You’re probably doing it wrong if you can’t keep Doom safe.
I’d have to agree though that Spid/Doom/Dorm is a team with a weak neutral. As for Dorm without missiles, Dorm and Mag EMD is just about as lethal.
Hey all. Long time reader, first time poster here. finally joining the bandwagon.
Anywho, it seems i have quite a different team composition from a lot of others here.
I’m running a solid team of Spidey(web ball) / Dante(crystal)/ and Akuma(tatsu)
i play a very rush down Spidey and these assist keep most of my blockstrings safe as well as extend combos when needed.
Any thoughts on this combo?
Spidey really benefits from Dante hard tag combos for that extra meter and wall bounce use.
Makes for some great options to use multiple crawler assaults if needed.
Dante was always a solid teammate for Spidey. Richard N. was one of those players who made the combo look good because of his long Dante combos from sting bounce and web throw hard knockdown. Problems some may encounter would be Dante accidentally hitting the opponent after the sting bounce.
I tried to use Vergil as second with spiral swords DHC from MS but Vergil’s stinger seemed to lose the wall bounce property after a long combo. Somewhat like Jill’s arrow kick. Dante’s lucky to still have his wall bounce stinger intact. Dunno if it’s just me though.
I’m in the middle of my spidey team mid-life crisis haha. I’m struggling right now to find the right anchor for wither my spidey/ iron man team and spidey/hawkeye. i know there are plenty of spidey players who use these duos. I know Doom and Dorm fit the bil, I’m really trying to find other characters to use. Any ideas?

Im glad someone bought up Dante my team is Parker(webswing) Deadpool( katanarama) Dante( jam session) Ive never seen the the raw tag set up with Parker and Dante and was wondering if anyone had a link to a video or can tell me how its done? i figured it would be the same way you raw tag into doom
you could go for Parker(whatever) Tony(unibeam/repuslor ) Sent(charge) strider works on that team as well.
As far as Parker and Clint go i can’t think of anyone else to put behind him but Doom. When Parker dies ( God forbid) you’ll still have a strong zoning team just sit at the end of the screen shoot arrows and call missiles it pisses people off and forces them to do things they don’t want to do if they don’t know how to play the match up.
You can do the raw tag from a first ground bounce sting and a web throw hard knockdown. Check my sig link, I have one from a web throw.
