spidey/dorm/wesk is good until you have to play zero, then it’s bad until you kill zero

Im curious what do you mean by his “strengths”? Of the characters you listed spiderman by himself has the tools to deal with their shanenigans without the need of an accompanying air control assists.

Also what is the setup your talking about? Sounds interesting.

While I do agree Zero is a bad matchup (not that bad TBH) He is only really a problem if he has sent drones backing him up. Doom missles is manageable and assists that help with his rush down abilities forces the Zero to approach which is what I want anyways.

In my opinion, Spider-man’s greatest strength lies in his mobility, where he is able to soar all over the map going “willy nilly”, as he tries to find a clean hit (along with being able to keep the pressure going when he gets someone locked down in the corner). Generally, people with strong air control, such as the ones I mentioned, are able to either prohibit him from going “willy nilly” or are able to just render his moveset useless by either out-prioritizing his projectiles that promote his mobile style or just beat out every aerial move (except the somewhat situational web swing). Actually, I would have to say it’s because of characters like Spencer that I prefer an air controlling assist. If it weren’t for our amazing c.:m:, I would probably detest that MU with a burning, fiery passion.

I prefer doing it on a soft knockdown, but it’s possible on hard knockdown as well. Basically, you want to call your assist while the opponent is waking up to set up the unblockable. Instinctively, the opponent will try to chicken guard which is where the 50/50 comes in, and that’s where the 50/50 comes in. Since I run Centurion Rush, Spider-man needs to be grounded for the low complement of the unblockable, leaving me to use UWT in case the opponent jumps. Although my 50/50 costs meter to perform the mix-up, I actually have time to react to the opponent jumping to punish them and is leads into some of our strongest combos. My guess is you should be able to create a just as efficient 50/50 in the corner using Wesker’s gun shot, in fact I actually stole the idea after watching Masta CJ one time LOL, but you will have to be weary of people ready to tech the throw, as well as characters with invincible hypers, such as Joe or Spencer.

I would say that Zero with Jam Session is far more annoying. I’ve actually grown quite accustomed to fighting against Vajra and Hidden Missiles, but that assist is so hard to deal with! @___@ Not only does it lock you down when you’re stuck in it, but it forces you to stay put so you don’t run into it.

one of the benefits of having triple arrow assist [taskmaster atm] is that he helps sometimes clear out jam session
doesn’t help vs vajra, and will randomly help vs doom [only if i call taskmaster slightly before they call missiles since the missiles still go off, and doom just takes some damage]

but yeah those 3 + log trap are essentially the main things. hulk up assist and other various up assists have messed with me a bit too.

Hey, I can’t decide on a team and I wanted your guys opinion on this. Also I had to make a new account, I’m not new by any means.

I play Spidey, Dante and Doom comfortably. I can play Sentinel and Strider decently and don’t mind playing them more to learn them.

A couple teams I’ve been messing around with are

Spidey/Dante or Doom/Strider Spidey/Dante/Doom Spidey/Sent/Strider Spider/Doom or Dante/Sent

Execution really isn’t an issue for me, so not worrying about execution I was wondering what you guys think the best team would be.

While I realize that Vajra is potentially a top 10 assist, I really am not too comfortable with the idea of Spider-man using it…[/S] Actually, I might have to test how effective Spider-man can be with Strider now… hmmm. Well, if you decide on Spidey/Dante/Doom, I’d suggest going to Plasma Beam instead of Hidden Missiles so that Dante can do work with it and have Dante with Jam Session.

I guess I could just write how each character helps Spidey out and allow you to make a decision based off of that:
Dante:
-Jam Session gives air control, lockdown, and combo extension
-Can raw tag into Dante after a ground bouncing Spider Sting->Spider Bite can do a large combo with Dante for massive damage and a total meter build of 2 bars for one combo
-Million Dollars is a great DHC after Crawler Assault, especially with Happy Birthday situations
Doom:
-Hidden Missiles + Spidey. 'nuff said. However, Plasma Beam is an overall better assist for Spidey due to its massive versatility for space control, lockdown, combo extension, etc.
-Can sort of do something similar to Dante’s shenanigans with raw tagging after a ground bouncing Spider Sting->Spider Bite, except it’s not as reliable due to spacing issues
-Sphere Flame is a great DHC after Maximum Spider and Crawler Assault, while Crawler Assault is a great DHC from Aerial Photon Array
Sentinel:
-Sentinel Force is obviously a top 5 assist, mainly due to its insane lockdown, space control, combo extension, etc. It’s just sick.
-You can raw tag into Sentinel after a ground bouncing Spider Sting->Spider Bite to avoid the DHC mishaps from Spider-man to Sentinel. From here, Sentinel can either do Rocket Punch xx Plasma Storm and DHC back into Spidey or even Tiger Knee a Rocket Punch and go into the Hard Drive loop!!!
-There seems to only be strong DHC synergy from Spidey to Sent when starting with Crawler Assault, granting Sent a Plasma Storm or even Hyper Sentinel Force and then Plasma Storm in the corner. From Plasma Storm, you can DHC into either Maximum Spider or Crawler Assault, depending on the time at which you DHC
Strider:
-Vajra is a tough assist to deal with, especially for characters that work at the super jump height (Trish, zero, etc.). Spider should be able to get some decent damage off of a Vajra knockdown, despite Web Zip OTG scaling the hell out of damage usually.
-Running Strider on anchor is almost like running Phoenix; you gotta stack dat meter, bro! Luckily, Spider-man is capable of dealing high damage through meterless combos and his resets are actually something to worry about! Backing Spidey up with a lockdown assist will ensure that he gets enough hits in to provide Strider with meter.
-Due to the randomness of Legion, as well as its somewhat mediocre damage, there really isn’t strong DHC synergy between the two, even though Legion is the perfect kind of hyper to DHC into after both Maximum Spider and Crawler Assault. Although you may not encounter this arrangement on a common basis, I guarantee will you have to deal with in some matches.

Honestly, you should be able to create a viable team with any of the 6 possible combinations spawned from this pool of 4 characters, but I would advise to stay away from anchoring with Sentinel unless you are ABSOLUTELY COMFORTABLE WITH HIM.

I apologize for this post being longer than intended, but I just got done playing Marvel for ~4 hours and then played two games of LoL not too long after, so I’m a bit mentally exhausted from over-thinking stuff, lol.

spidey/doom/strider is really cool. you fly around and confirm off of strider hits.

spidey/dante/doom is cool. you do combos into devil trigger combos. if you like combos, this isn’t a bad choice.

sentinel is okay but he is the worst character out of the ones you listed. if you like drones play drones. if you don’t like drones no point in playing sent.

Hey, I’ve been a long reader of this blog. I’ve been trying to construct a team (with spidey on point of course!). I’ve decided for my second character to be Chris Redfield with his gun fire assist. However, I’m struggling to find the right anchor. I definitely think I need some air control assist, but I’m not sure who to choose. I’m not too big of a fan of doom so he’s out. Any ideas? Any reason in particular for Chris second? Their DHC synergy isn’t the pretty.

In any case, for air control, you may want to think about Rocky or Dante. Those are the main two that will give you the best air control. There’s rapid slash vergil if you want more horizontal push back to fill the screen.

Trish and Happy Trigger Deadpool are options too.

If you’re looking for air control, you have quite a few choices:
-Doom (Hidden Missiles)
-Iron Man* (Repulsor Blast)
-Rocket Raccoon (Pendulum)
-Dante* (Jam Session)
-Strider (Vajra)
-Dormammu (Purification)
*- Not generally recommended to throw on anchor, due to either difficulty of use with X-Factor or is far better off with assists, so it may require you to change the order on your team if you decide to run them. (I’d advise throwing Chris on anchor on this team)

HAHAHA Thank God, i was scared id have 2 replace nova. I have always been thinking of picking up spidey but i’ve always been to lazy to learn him. I was wondering if theres any videos out there that show the combos i should be doing. From snooping around the spidey forums i can def see that spiderman and dooms missiles are bffs.
Edit: i also forgot 2 ask, is there any use for web swing assist

Yeah, my two favorite characters are Spidey and Nova, so I had to make sure there was something that worked well between them! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Web Swing works as backup space control, granting the point character a very nice pickup. It’s hitstun scales too drastically for it to work well as a combo extender, although it does have its uses in that area.

You just contradicted yourself man. Web swing is easily his best assist for controlling space and getting people the fuck up off you. It’s obviously no Haggar assist but when used correctly it will push tri jumpers back allowing yourself room to breath. It also doubles nicely as a combo extender. It also grants a nice amount of float stun even after longer combos though the timing will be shortened towards the end.

What I meant as backup space control was that it’s not the best space controlling assist, but it works well in that manner. Gimme a break, bro, I was tired as crap last night. XD
