Spider-Man and Vergil are not that bad together either cause of Rapid Slash assist . I was thinking of making a team consisting of Spidey,Vergil(rapid slash),and Doom(missiles). Think this would be good? Or should I change Doom’s assist to Beam since spidey can otg and do beam into it and it’d also help out Vergil a bit better than Missiles?
I believe the former would be pretty strong; Vergil’s Rapid Slash serves as a great space controller while doubling as a combo extender and Doom’s Missiles provide great lockdown when used correctly and… well, you know. It could also be used somewhat as a bit of air control, something that Rapid Slash isn’t quite capable of unless you’re talking up to the peak of Spidey’s normal jump.
I would say that it’s a matter of preference when it comes to choosing either Plasma Beam or Missiles because although Plasma beam is an overall better assist than Missiles, Missiles just does SO MUCH for Spidey. Also, I’m not quite sure about this because I don’t know too much about Rapid Slash, but I feel that Rapid Slash and Plasma Beam together would be a bit redundant, and would therefore not prove to be quite as versatile as Rapid Slash and Hidden Missiles.
Like I said, it’s mostly a matter of preference.
God, I’m gonna have to learn Doom someday… it pisses me off just thinking about it, but it feels like it’s inevitable since I’m going to have to write that summary up sooner or later.

if you can play vergil ( i can’t lol) vergil with missiles is super super fun. at least imo. just keep them locked down for ages, and missiles is a good combo assist and just wrecks a lot of teams that don’t have an assist to deal with hidden missile calls in the neutral game.
hmm I see I see.I tried to do this combo with spidey earlier and it goes cr.L,cr.M,cr.H xx L.Web Swing,j.M,j.M,j.S,st.M,st.H xx M.Web Throw,Web Zip otg in Rapid Slash,Web Throw,Maximum Spider…I feel like I could do more before Maximum Spider. =/ idk .

Creating my 3rd reserve team for fun and just wanted to know what you guys thought of the team. Spideys my favourite marvel character so I was thinking something like Spidey/Ironman/Dormammu or zero/spidey/Dormammu or spidey/vergil/Ironman. Would any of these teams be effective?
Spidey/IM/Dormammu is my secondary team, and it’s actually very effective if you run repulsor blast, due to the fact that there’s a lockdown assist, a space controlling assist, and a 1 Bar, 1 Million Damage combo for Spidey. The combo still allows you to finish with Crawler Assault, and gives you the chance to DHC to proton cannon for some stupid huge damage for just 2 bars. Dark Hole assist also grants Iron Man a lockdown assist for his super scary high/low mixup, as well as combo extension along with Web Swing assist, granting you stupid high damage just from the Modified Krispy Kreme BnB.
I don’t know about Zero/Spidey/Dormammu, mainly because I’m not sure if those two characters would grant Zero the assists he needs to get the stupid high damage off of any hit confirm. It could be decent though, I s’pose.
Spidey/Vergil/IM could be pretty decent with Rapid Slash and Unibeam as the designated assists, but I’m not quite sure if it would be wise to run Iron Man on anchor unless you’re confident enough with him to reverse OCV people without X-Factor.
spidey/im/dormammu is kind of cool. i prefer dorm second in this just because of the maximum spider->stalking flare shenanigans, and dorm with a beam assist is scarier than ironman with any assist

zero/spidey/dorm, the only good things about this team are that it has zero on it, and dorm as an anchor i guess. people here have various opinions on spidey second, mine is that he isn’t good. he doesn’t provide flexible dhc’s to get the first character out OR to finish combos sometimes, has overall poor assists, and i don’t think his crossover counter is worth it. that being said, spidey/zero/dorm makes a bit more sense if you want to put spidey and zero on the same team. however, if you want to play zero, why not go the whole shebang and have jam session assist? zero is a for srs character.
spidey/vergil/im can work i just don’t like ironman overall here when you could run taskmaster, hawkeye, magneto, even doom for horizontal assists.
in general i don’t like ironman and spidey on the same team though. they’re two specialty characters that haven’t seen a lot of tournament success because of a few reasons: they require higher than normal execution to play, and they can’t often do what they want like a top tier zero/wesker/dorm/morrigan/mag/wolv/dante/doom/vergil/etc
Hi Hello. I have been playing with spider-man for a while and I love everything about him but I can’t seem to find a proper anchor. My original team was SM/Ver/Wesk but I realize how much I suck with Wesk so I decided to change the team completely now I have SM/DP/?. I’m feeling Verg because his rapid slash assist since it can extend combos and you can Web Throw M after the assist connects. Any thoughts of other anchor other than Vergile?

What do you guys think about my current team Spidey/Nemesis/?? and who do you think it will fit better as an anchor and assist, Hawkeye or Sentinel?

tbh i like hawkeye on there better. too many big characters opens up some bad matchups.
I would probably agree with Hawkeye partially because of Phantasy’s reason, but also because becoming strong with anchor Sentinel is actually a lot more work than usual. Although Sentinel Force is one of the strongest assists in the game, offensively and defensively, Hawkeye is just overall a better anchor in most situations. I would suggest switching between Nemesis and Sentinel if you really want to run those two characters.
Nemesis has some crazy synergy with Spider-man, where you can THC with them while being able to combo afterwards (I believe Justin Wong gave us a nice sample of the synergy between those two…). Also, clothesline rocket is a great combo extending assist, as well as some nice space control due to Nemesis’s massive size.
While Sentinel doesn’t have very strong DHC synergy with Spider-man after Maximum Spider, it is very possible to raw tag into Sentinel after a ground-bouncing Spider Sting/Spider Bite, allowing Sentinel to not only land :l: Rocket Punch xx Plasma Storm but allows him to even Tiger Knee a :l: Rocket Punch into the Hard Drive loop! Oh yeah, and Sentinel Force is one of the best assists in the game. /redundancy
spiderman/dorm/wesker is pretty terrible
It was far better in Vanilla when Spider-man still needed an OTG assist. However, in my opinion, Spider-man needs two things when looking for assists:
- Lockdown
- Air Control
And while Dorm can support the lockdown, Wesker doesn’t help establish air control so that Spidey can either force the opponent down to the ground to start his rushdown or hit confirm off of it connecting.
While I still think the team can be effective here in Ultimate, it’s your team, Brightside, so are you wanting to change it to something that helps draw out Spidey’s strengths further or are you wanting to find new ways to make the team work? We’re here to help. ;D

naw I was actually just messing around lol. I’m too lazy to learn new chars and I think it’s still a really effective team given it has a few flaws (but what team doesn’t?)
While I agree he does need an assist to help with lock down I don’t think he necessarily requires one for air control at all. With angled webthrows/balls he can easily control multiple angles of approach and more importantly when they are coming down you have a srk which forces block situations. Wesker is really just preference for me. I like the ability to mess around with unblockable setups on both spiderman/dorm and he acts as a simple but effective combo extender so I can go into C.A with spidey or relaunch with Dorm.
Lol, I feel that. My reasoning behind having an air controlling assist is because there are actually several characters that beat him in most air-to-air situations, and while there’s plenty of ways to avoid said situations, I feel as if it will promote Spidey to play more on his strengths, thus making the match more in his favor. While Spidey does have some of the best anti-airs in the game (c. and :l: Spider Sting come to mind; but let’s not forget
/:h: Web Throw, any standing normal, and, of course, UWT), his air normals are not preferred in matches where the opponent has freakin’ gigantic spatial coverage on their air normals (Iron Man, Nemesis, Ghost Rider, etc… On top of that, people playing those characters generally have them paired up with Strider Vajra or Doom Hidden Missiles), prohibiting Spidey from a simple air dash j.:h: or web ball xx web zip j.:h:/j.:s:.
Nova is a preference in the same way for me as Wesker is for you, but Centurion Rush also provides air control and grants me one of the scariest 50/50 games in the corner on an opponent: having to guess between eating an UWT or an unblockable. You should be able to actually option-select a 50/50 for your unblockable setup with Wesker using j.:h:, now that I think about it… =P
Idk, maybe I’ve just grown to be so accustomed to having air control backing me up since I learned how GODLIKE Repulsor Blast is as an assist.
