How did you guys do? Did you get out of the qualifiers? Evo is double-elim right? I’m curious to know how you guys did. If you did get peaced out early on, was it by any famous players? They use US sticks over there too, was that difficult to get used to as the Troc has Sanwas?
Hmmm, can’t say I have. There’s loads of shitty arcades in Leeds. However I don’t bother going in most of them as they seem to be full of gamblers.I’ll have a mooch on my dinner though.
The Bowling alley one illudes me, it could be one of quite a few. Again, I’ll let you know what I find…
Oh and some one just posted in the Live forum that Picadilly in Manchester has just got a Jap 3s cab. And A3.
if there was a small but well stocked (say 10 japanese sit down cabs) arcade located in more or less the middle of UK , say for example Sheffield :xeye: do you think it would make a decent turn over of flop within 6 month ? Answers on a blank cheque are welcomed
when I say well stocked I’m talking machines with sticks/buttons that work - gameswise SFZ2A, SFA3, SF3.3 Version A (Uriens unblockables are present) MvC2, VF4FT version B (its a possibility  ) plus a few other titles here and there
I’d say hell yeah. I’ve long thought about the possibility of something like this. It would require a hella lot of time, perseverence, publicity and cold hard cash. The nasty fact is that you might have to diversify. Could somewhere outside of Central London really stay afloat for more than 6 months?
Nah got banged up at SF, not by any particular players either (i could use lack of practice as an excuse… but n/m), but came top 10 (or was it top 12?) at Tekken Tag and Tekken 4, which was what I mainly went for
The US sticks are HORRIBLE… but we only had to deal with them when playing casual games at the arcade.
Lucky for us, all the tournaments were console starting that year, so we were free to use our sanwas
I think if you based your arcade in london then you would get the most successful business, but sheffield has a lot of players too so its a great idea I say go for it!
Also are those cabs yours? If so, nice one!!! I would love to buy that astro city cab with 3s board but I know the price would be insane lol. But just out of curiosity, how much would you sell it for?
yep they are my cabs - the Naomi cab is actually now on eBay as I have a Capcom MiniCute to start work on and a Sega Aero Table to pickup next week :karate:
Sorry to hear you cant make it billykane,But if you cant make it perhaps you can spread the word around the french 3s players and let them know the tournament will be around end of may beginning of june.
The tournament will have 8 tvs and a projector for finals.
All macthes will be record and available for download
This tournament is going to be sick!
Free fake travel card and acommodation for all out of town and oveerseas players at my yard.
IMO if you were to set up an arcade, with nothing but arcade machines in it, you would go bankrupt even before the business has a chance to take off. It would be cool but not financialy viable. Your best bet to get your machines turning over some cash is if you find shops ie indy games shop or even kebab shops or social clubs/bars. This way whatever the machine takes you split 50/50 with the person supplying the venue. But most of all you are spreading the 2d beat em ups again. I use to own a games shop in East London, and I rented a SF2 WW cabinet (only one I could find) the machine use to take anything between 40-100 a week and considering the space it took in the place it was a worth whilw investment. I was happy cause I had a sf cab and was making some change out of it and it was bringing in slightly more trade, the person that provided me with it was happy cause they was getting cash too. The person I got the machine from owned around 100 fruit machines and 10-15 games cabinets which are located in different shops around london. For him it was just about going around collecting money allday from various places, I am sure the scale he ran his operation on he prob made a nearly grand a wekk tax free and prob only declared 200-300 a week or so.
