Hey cableHViper I’ll be coming down on thursday to visit a friend, saw your post that you play mvc2. I’ll probably be in the arcade around noon til like 2. Is there anyone else that plays mvc2?
Course load is catching up with me. I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to GGXX any time soon, at least during peak hours. Then again, the only other known GGXX regular in here is MTP, so this message is of dubious utility. shrug
i got class from 10-2 tues and thurs… any other times? =/
also, i dont know if the person in charge of fixing the equipment checks here anymore (if ever at all), but BOTH marvel cabinets buttons are in damaged condition right now. also, check to see why extraneous movement of the joysticks on the 1P sides of both cabinets cause for fierce punch or fierce kick to randomly fire please. thanks!

Where da machines at yo? I walked into X-Cape today to find CVS2, one of the MVC2 machines, and SC2 gone! :wow: Through second hand info I’ve heard that supposedly they’re selling some old machines and moving some of the games into different cabinets or something, but can anyone confirm this and/or know more? I really hope CVS2 isn’t gone for good… >_<

I talked to the guy who repairs the machines today and he said that CvS2 will be back, but as a small cabinet…You would have thought that they would have put CFJ in a small cabinet since nobody plays it…but oh well, I guess it’s better than no CvS2 at all.

I scoped out the arcade at 7pm-ish.
CvS2 is indeed in a small cab, as is the “less-broken” MvC2 (i.e. bad-screen MvC2 is still there). Looks like all the “good” big-cabinets were sold off; as an acceptable side-effect, this spares GGXX’s cabinet (damn screen won’t degauss right; I’ve seen the tech degauss the thing at least six times and that blotch in the lower-left corner WILL NOT GO AWAY :lame:).
Speaking of GGXX, since it still remains in one of the last three big-cabs (the other two are the bad-screen MvC2 and 3S), it’s now up against the wall (where big-CvS2 used to be), and should be getting better showing/exposure :woot:.
Maximum Tune 2 has been brought in. Yay, another Initial D clone. :rolleyes:
Beat-Mania (“DDR for drumset”) also showed up.
In case people still don’t know, CFJ is on rental/lease, so no one can mess with it except the absentee owners (I’m guessing the upstream provider… “On-Campus Entertainment, Inc.” or somesuch). One of the reasons that CFJ is so (mechanically) broken is because the most the X-Cape staff can do is power-cycle the thing; they can’t get into the machine to adjust it (as in, no keys). Virtua Cop 3 was likewise in on a similar basis, which is why it so suddenly disappeared.
What I still want to know is wtf Ranger Mission is doing in there. Seriously, wtf.
I’m hoping this set of change doesn’t spell the end of X-Cape. Our sister campus, Irvine, shut down their arcade for good last quarter :tdown:.

You guys should keep practicing and play in some tournies. I heard that Harry Potter got into ucla so you’ll have some great mvc competition and he also plays a lil cvs and 3s.
The reason why uci’s arcade got closed down was not for lack of money or anything but renovation. It should…be back after the student center is rebuilt which will be a while.

when’s the best time to go for some cvs2 or ggxx comp? I’ll be down in LA for a couple months and I’m frequenly in the UCLA area. Thanks in advance.
Weekdays 10-3 typically while school is still in session, over the summer I’m not too sure. CvS2 people show up randomly between those hours. For GGXX I’d say around noon is the best time?
