The UCLA thread

Breakfast = Desayuno.
Screw rice, it’s all about chorizo, omelettes, and breakfast burritos. Out of the three meals of the day you gotta put your ratio 2 on breakfast, it’s the most important meal.

You could always make the engineer’s sandwich. 4 fried eggs, cheese, mushrooms, ham, salami, bacon in between two pieces of toasted bread. That way, you can skip lunch and most of dinner to do your work.

Or as Sloppy use to do, six (!!!) fried eggs, with all of the above, in between two buttered waffles and a side of croissants. He’d also eat an omelet on the side too sometimes.

I really missed dorm breakfasts.

I’m not surprised with the eggs. I remember a few people who ordered absurd amounts of eggs every day back in the dorms, but all that other stuff, yeesh. That guy eats like a lumberjack.

I miss dorm breakfasts too. To all the people that live in the dorms now, enjoy those breakfasts while you can. I’m sure a lot of the people on this thread will attest to that.

Anyone going to be at UCLA today? I drove down here to whoop some @ MVC2. I’ll be in around 10am-2pm just for kicks

GGXX buttons have been fixed since the start of this week.

Also, I finally started having breakfast this week. Doesn’t seem to make too much of a difference, but I do feel a bit more alert throughout the day, especially morning.

Yui is visiting LA at the moment. Go kick his ass

whatsa up guys, i hvnt been to ucla in forver. r all the 3s machines in working order? is there anyone willing to play?

Yea, I’m down to go tonight at around 8:45pm or so, if you’re gonna go.

mhmm ill keep you posted

I’ll play tonight. 8-ish.

N

Well, I started CvS2 in earnest. Everyone advised me against R4 Iori. So after about $5 of losses, I’m currently on N-Groove with R1 Yuri and R3 Iori. Considering this is my second day returning to Capcom’s six-button interface, I think I stood a pretty good ground despite how many times I tried to punch with LK, kick with LP, counterattack (guard-cancel attack) with MP+HP, and totally forgot about MK. And tried wakeup backdash. And dash-braking. That last got me lots of weird rolls that led to minor victories.

Anyway, I’d like to bitch and whine about what Capcom did to Yuri. I would like to, but no one would care, since SNK is dead.

Yuri really sucks in anything outside of A. I suggest using someone else. Wheras few people might play Ky in Japan, NOBODY plays Yuri as a serious character.

N-Groove is tought to win with, but it’s doable. Learn how and WHEN to do rush block strings, learn to roll cancel, and abuse short jumps. If you insist on playing SNK characters, Kyo, Vice, Yamazaki, Rock, and Geese work pretty well in N, as well as Iori. Nakoruru works suprisingly well too. 2-frame jab and short jump roundhouse pretty much beats anything, she just doesn’t do damage.

I miss Guilty Gear. No one plays it up here, so I’m reduced to trying random stuff in training mode for #R.

You need to come back so I can challenge you to a Ky vs Testament match of doom! There’s only 4 people to play here at XX and 90% of the time it’s just Phaethon. Heh, try out Melty Blood React or Eternal Fighter Zero. EFZ has lots of random character clones with an XXish fighting system, as Phaethon might have noticed.

Lol.

I dunno man, I have MBR, but it just looks broken to all hell >_<

Yeah, of the 2, EFZ is more balanced. Heck, you can “roman cancel” in the game. But still, we can play #R + MBR! MBR v2.009a isn’t as broken as the older versions, so maybe you need to patch your game, Yumi?

UCLA had a tekken tourney? wha?

Aside from “use someone else” was what you also said about my May, I don’t intend to use Yuri seriously. I wanted to play R4 Iori, but EVERYONE said not to do that (even the non-players, go fig…). To get an R3 Iori, I needed someone else. The only other character I had any clue on playing was Yuri. But damn… it’s like KOF95 all over again.

On the other hand, now that you tell me to use someone other than N-Yuri… :karate:

It’s funny what Guilty Gear does to my cvs2 play. I try brake-dashing and I get a running roll right into an opening. I try IAD and I get the N short jump – virtual instant overhead. Try to FD an assault, roll right through them to the other side. And hey, breaking a stock is just like Bursting plus a ghetto Dragon Install! I would like to use K-Groove so I can put my IB skills to good use, but then I can’t run into a block string.

Again, it’s not so much that I want to play SNK chars, it’s a matter of where my clue was distributed. Which is primarily Team Art Of Fighting, Team We-Beat-Up-Orochi, and Ken. In Last Blade 2, it was Yuki and Akari (no Hibiki). In Samsho, well, Rimururu :lovin:; I abandoned Haohmaru several months after the start of SS4. Ken is the only Capcom char I’ve played seriously, but that was way back in SFA2. Alpha Two. I don’t even know what to do with half of CVS2 Ken’s movelist.

:arazz:May Death Combos.

So anybody got any water?

NO DAMNIT. srligubhdxfohan

I don’t even recommend R3 Iori. He just has too many bad matchups to make him anything above R2.

Learn to use people if you really want to learn how to play CvS2…which I don’t recommend :stuck_out_tongue:

If all else fails, pick Sagat and hit C. Fierce a lot.
